  1. The factory roll bar, front push bar, and flat spoke jackman wheels are worth taking the whole car for. It looks like it also has a factory option rear bumper upgrade. I'd even bet the sunroof was added at the dealership. Looks like this brat rolled out of the show room floor w/ every bell and whistle that could be bolted to it. Too bad it has been used as a punching bag, and not allowed to rest quietly. However it looks pretty solid and dry, just a ton of cosmetic problems.
  2. When in was a teenager you could pick up a vw bug anywhere for next to nothing, those days are long gone. Unfortunately the same transition from a throw-away car to a collector car is fully under way for the pre-legacy era subarus. Lucky for us the subaru cult following is much smaller than the vw cult, so I do not foresee prices for classic subarus ever getting in the range of the old aircooled vw's. a sign of things to come: https://www.mecum.com/lots/KD1216-266453/1979-subaru-brat/

  4. Thanxs for the tip, I'll take a look at it this weekend.

  6. So my 1986 EA82 Auto FWD is having ignition problems again. The strange thing is it only occurs in the morning. I have to twist the key around 20 times before the starter connects. Afternoons are fine, starts right up first twist of the key. Also starts right up after stopping after running. I replaced the ignition a few years ago, when I had similar issues, but it was happening all the time. I have multiple ignitions and starters in my stash of parts, but I'd like to get some opinions before I tear into my steering column again. Anyone have similar symptoms ever?
  7. Whats up with the wallpaper treatment to the Bedcap? I guess the PO was going for that country home vibe, or maybe he dated Martha Stuart?
  8. Like so many trim pieces, they were designed to be pressed on at the factory and that's it. They were never designed to be taken off, repaired, ect... These cars were never intended to be restored. If you do find a donor car to grab the drip rails off of, they will also most likely be destroyed in the removal process. However.....every problem has a solution. I have fixed drip rails by fabricating my own attachment hardware, I also beef it up for attaching cargo rails. You just need to get creative.
  9. common problem, I ended up switching to a different dizzy. If you don't have another dizzy , you could try to wire-tie the screw.
  10. Interested in how the HD axles work out for you, what brand are they? Dig the Tron side stripes on your rig.
