Yeah we try to stay off the trails during mud season because it is real bad and people get angry when ruts are made! But seriously can a bunch of people come up here!!

They are making 14" wheels now and I think that there are actually some that are DOT approved, but I do think that the backspacing will be an issue

I can measure mine tomorrow. They are a pretty big pattern. But you'd have to spend the big money and get the expensive wheels so they would be strong enough

Just a question but why did you pull the t/c when you pulled the motor?

Man you guys are picky!! I paid 2500 for mine and then I had to weld in new floors and then the year after I had to put new rockers in it, and a new wheel well! That is not structural damage! It would be a lot easier to fix then mine was! If you don't think so, give it to me and I'll fix it! I'd love to have one that was even in that good of shape! You guys are spoiled out there in the west! I know that it isn't perfect and it's gonna need some work but if it just gets done then it will be fine and last a long time as long as it is taken care of properly.

You could take them someplace and have them sandblasted, and then repaint them

Yeah I do have to say that it is mostly oil that is leaking on mine but there is definitely coolant as well

Mine is leaking externally and it causes a bunch of problems and I assume it will eventually for him. Mine heats up sometimes. And even after adding the conditioner several times now, the leak has gotten a lot worse so that it loses enough coolant so that I have to check it every couple days. Yes it is very expensive, which is why I regret everyday for giving the 2.5 a chance. I wouldn't suggest replacing it yet either. I would suggest keeping up on the coolant, and watching the temp gauge religiously!

I have seen a few that have started to leak at this low of mileage. The phase II externally leak coolant as well. I'm going with head gaskets

If you go into the storage area in the hatch and remove the four rubber plugs on each side, there will be four 14 or 17mm bolts under those plugs, remove those and slide your bumper off.

It only works for a short period of time after they have started leaking. It didn't help mine at all.

My phase II 2.5 is leaking oil and coolant out of the HG's as well. I'm my own mechanic.

Between the shiny spot and the rusty spot. I know it doesn't look it but that's where it should come apart. This is the kind of stuff I always have to deal with living up here in the rust belt!:-\ Good luck!

Yeah compared to most of the old vehicles I see that are restored it's really not that bad! You should have seen mine when I started! It took a lot of work and welding but it's pretty much solid now. And I know you guys have all seen ettev's Brat! And cobcob is going through it right now. Your Brat is structurally sound! It's just a few places and if you take care of it fairly soon, It will be fine and no one will be able to tell the difference!

I still say that since it has a good body other wise, than you should save it. But I would definitely address the issue ASAP. If not you can send it to me with out a motor or tranny!!
