  1. Yeah they usually are pretty tough. Maybe it's just all dirty inside:grin:. Good luck! So any progress on the coupe??
  2. I personally say its a waste of time but that's just me. I've always said that "rust never sleeps" so I would put that on the front burner if possible. If it isn't taken care of fairly soon, it's just going to get worse. I have actually never seen one rust that bad in that area, but that's because I live in Mains so we have all the rust on the underside of the body! In reality if you tear into it and fix it, it shouldn't actually take too long.
  3. Nice buy anyway, I like the wheels on it, I like the black on red
  4. Sweet! I'm jealous! Definitely post pics of the project!
  5. Looks good! Is that the one that subaruguru had for sale?
  6. Should be able to drive out the pin where the hole is in the pic, then soak it with some PB blaster and then try to work it apart
  7. I say definitely pull everything off it and thoroughly clean it up and repair any and all rust you can find. Try to weld in patches if needed and use as little Bondo as possible because that will just allow it to rust further. It is definitely worth saving. So I would park it and take off anything that might be hiding any rust. Good luck!
  8. I've seen a lot of people using the weber. I personally have the fuel injection conversion done to my Brat so I can't help with specifics
  9. The Brat/ EA81 does not have a timing belt or chain, it is all internal gear driven.
  10. Lookin good! So did she make it home under her own power? And any new news on the tranny?
  11. I haven't registered yet either. I'm still trying to figure out if I'm coming down alone or not.
  12. I can get one for about 125 before shipping but mysteriousXTC has first dibs on it. If he passes then I can get it for you.
  13. These write ups bug the crap out of me! It seams like they all have about the same amount of useful and factual information about the car....which isn't really any! They do a very slight amount of research, and then throw in their own opinions, which most of the time are from people that no little or nothing about cars! It's too bad because it then gives others bad impressions about the car!
  14. Be careful!!! Is the pulley a metal one or composite?
  15. 84 and 85 Brats are the same as far as parts go, so it should be fine to ask for either year
  16. Yeah it was well below zero here last night and now it is only 10 above. There were a few places in Maine that hit -30 to -40 below last night with out any wind!!!
  17. Yeah I think you'll have to drill holes and through bolt the rear differential stuff!
  18. Sounds pretty much right! And you will keep learning, this place is full of knowledge!!
  19. Looks good Brian! Can't wait to see the progress!

I had a 4500 on my Brat and it always worked effortlessly to pull me out, and even a HD 3/4 ton GMC once! But yes it was a little heavy
