  1. A couple things come to mind... A dragging brake, a caliper, or inboard parking brake. If an automatic, is the 4th gear/OD still working. A injector thats stuck open.. Clogged exhaust You have pretty much covered the basics, and there really isnt much else I can think of..
  2. Wish I had seen this thread sooner. I woulda gone up and helped him.. Or at least to come home with a new subie..
  3. Old post for sure... I wouldnt buy anything subaru from 1998-2003. And my local Subaru dealers agree with me. Its what they call the GM years. Where GM kinda told them to skimp out on certain things to save money. I am so glad that GM no longer has anything to do with Subaru. But the problem is, Toyota scares me even more... I love the body styles of the Legacy from 2000-2004.5. The 2005+, I am not sure of yet. I like the newer foresters, from about 2004 up, but this new 2009 forester, I hate with a passion. I got one as a loaner car while my tribeca was in. It did not like the high speed interstate driving. If you had to make a sudden move on the interstate to avoid something, you would probly wreck anyways. The rear end just dove right out on me. I barely missed that semi truck. What surprises me about it is the new forester is built on the 00-04.5 Legacy frame. It should do much better than that.
  4. Oh great, just to mock me, the board doesnt let me edit this post, but every other post I have can be edited.. SHEESH!
  5. Well, I had to do some computer mods. The thing only had 195 HP from the factory, it was so underrated. So yea, everything under the hood is factory, just a new flash on the EEPROM.
  6. To much oil bypass can create a sooty deposit on the Cat. Which in turn causes it to fail. From my understandings, this is why Sub has a dual cat system. So there isnt as much oil buildup, and the cat can heat up and burn it off, befor it gets burned on..
  7. Heathen? Its factory original, except for some computer mods in the EEPROM. But anyways.. I would normally agree, but last year, driving the same trip, at the same speed, and it was MUCH colder, I got 21.2. This year, 18.9. Something I am going to have to keep an eye on..
  8. I hope I am sensing sarcasm there... Always hard to tell thru the interweb.. Anyways, I think something along these lines might be going on with my Tribeca.. I have been driving mostly on the interstate, and I am only getting roughly 18 MPG. I should be getting at least 20, if not 22. But the dealer says there is nothing wrong.
  9. Maybe I should change that a bit.. My McLaren powered Pontiac Grand Prix.. 3.1 TurboCharged intercooled engine, pushing roughly 410 HP/393 TQ (non-stock).
  10. More efficiently yes, but they also burn more gas. Because the air is so dense, the computer has to offset the density by increasing the amount of fuel used. The feeling that cars have more power when cold is true, to a degree, because the BTU level inside the combustion chamber is now at a higher, more efficient level, thru both higher gas levels, and the density of the air. Turbocharged cars, like my McLaren love the cold air, but hates the traction that snow gives LOL..
  11. Ok, I have to ask. I had a 84 Subaru GL 2 Wheel Drive hatch. The car would always pop out of 3rd gear. Your reference reminded me of it, whats the deal?
  12. He said he had a 2009, and they discontinued the hill holder feature... Dumb, very dumb of Subaru.. Along with dropping the Baja..
  13. Didnt realize how much space the older AC systems took. Part of the glove box, knee room, what else?
  14. You can buy my Tribeca in June.. Thats when I turn it in on lease.. I think it will be at 15k or so.. But there are better optioned ones on ebay for the same price.
  15. Nice looking sedan, but this is for my wife. And with her being 4'10" tall, she needs power seats.
  16. Gotta be a 2000-2005. Power seats are the issue here, and the 99 and earlier models dont come with power seats. Gotta a link to pics? I guess I can take a look at it at least.
  17. I have been looking for months for a 2000-2005 SUS.. The earlier models seem to be easy to find.. Damnit..
  18. My mom has a 94 Soob Legacy LS Wagon AWD. Its got this push button operated suspension, where the car raises up about 4 inchs. The question is, how good is this system, and if something fails on it, is it worth replacing, or replacing the whole system with standard struts? Any other info would be nice too..
  19. 06 International... My last truck was a 04 Volvo... and was 1000x the truck this Intertrashinal is. EDIT: And when I say truck, I mean big truck. 18 wheels, 80,000 lbs, etc...
  20. Flywheel, a junkyard clutch to use as a core (since most parts stores charge for a core), or if you have one lieing around from one of your VW's. And I think the rear cross member is diferent from a auto to a manual.
  21. I wonder if it could be a bad center section as well. When it was towed for being parked to long, I wonder if instead of flatbed towing it, like a 4x4/awd subaru should, they towed it by the front wheels, leaving the rear wheels to spin, and do something.. I honestly dont know much about the awd system of the Subaru, but I know in my Pontiac, if towed without all 4 wheels being off the ground, it will toasty fry the tranny.
  22. If this is a street legal car, and you go thru safety inspections, you might not (and will not in Missouri) pass a safety inspection with a glass fuel filter.
  23. In your photobucket album settings, you will have to change it to "make public". Once thats done, let us know, and we can veiw the goods..
  24. Well, my subarus are all doing good so far. But the Ice/Snow/Moisture got my VSS to go bad on my truck, so now I only have 3 gears, reverse, 2 and 1. Considering I have a 10 speed tranny, thats now quite enough..
