Can Someone Come To My House And Help Me?
wentz912 replied to jj421's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you genuinely think that's hard at the age of 16, you are SCREWED when you get older. Wait til you have a "real" job. My dad is 48, diabetic, knees are shot from falling out of airplanes, shoulder's all jacked up from being shot, and he still runs me into the ground on occasion. -
Can Someone Come To My House And Help Me?

Bring your tools and your parts and take advantage of all the knowledge AT WCSS and get er done. OR buck up and use the same can-do attitude that got you to finish the axle on that bumper! Have a little faith, you might struggle a little bit, but I bet you can do it. -
Well, new struts are on. Heard the right rear brakes making terrible noises the other day so picked up some new goodies! That's right, found BREMBO rear XT6 rotors. They're not really all that fancy, but it's cool knowing I'm stopping with Brembo now. Also got the five spokes put on and the 17s listed in the classifieds if anybody reading this is interested. Next up is to find some new rear calipers then it's onto the front to upgrade that end. Also need to figure out whats going on with the front, wheels wiggle like I've got wheel bearings that are going bad, but they don't make any noise and spin fine when I break them down to the hub. Can't get the axle nut any tighter either. Maybe the XT6 outer stubs are too long for the EJ knuckles and I can't get the proper bearing preload?

In like flynn! -
Well my new struts showed up today. Will get them swapped on as soon as i'm back on day shift schedule!

Well, was tooling along to go pay rent today when the drivers side t-belt idler gear decided to leave the vehicle! Awesome, got a hold of a buddy to cannibalize one of his spare motors for said idler gear until I can scrounge up some new ones.

Thanks man. I'm still undecided on the way they look. Cant get quite enough sidewall for my liking. Thinking about stepping down to some sixteens just to get some more meat.

Well, as of last night my 98 2.5RS struts are on their way from Rock Auto. Wasn't sure what all chassis would share common struts with what I have currently under the car, so I went with my gut feeling on the baddest/slickest factory car that I was confident shared a chassis and thus suspension components with my donor car.

If I still have them, a picture of my pugs will make it as well as a tote of all the little random stuff i have picked up along the way

Having some problems with my front end as of this afternoon. Hit a bump, and on the next one felt/heard a very loud, violent clunk/bump. Had it happen three times in a row before I got pulled onto the shoulder. Low and behold, my left strut has decided to become overly acquainted with the pinch weld on the front inside of the strut tower. I'm guessing the noise I was hearing was it clicking back and forth over the pinch weld. Anyhow. Not sure how the strut moved itself closer to the body like that. Had a problem with the spring not being rotated in the seat properly before. Will check it out once I get the wheels off in the morning. Should probably buy some new struts anyhow. These 97 outbacks are super crusty, and are worn to the point that I can here them coughing and wheezing everytime they move.

You mean they aren't supposed to do that? Mine always have in both my 86 I used to have, and the 85 I have now...

Simply magnificent Nico! Thanks for showing us just what can be done with these great old cars!

5.5 inch wide vs 6 inch wide rims
wentz912 replied to djellum's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you end up with another 6" wide one, just make sure that the single skinny one ends up on the rear. -
Yup they are the original matching set off of my 85. Looking forward to hearing from ya?
-
If you're interested in a full set, I happen to have a set of wagon wheels with center caps and decent tread 185/80-13 non studded winter tires. Excellent tire size for a DD sube. Tall and skinny-ish.

WOW those 225s are WIIIIIDE! What happened to the JDM STi wheels?
-
I have two that look like the silver ones. I'm up in Kelso. Come get them if you want them.

Jealous of the green machine's touring roof. Also curious if your headlights are clear-ish instead of all refracted like ours our. Maybe it's just my late night eyes...
-
They don't look all that low pro in the pictures, bout the same sidewall as the first pic with the snow flakes. Then again, sounds like they were stupid wide.
-
Get any pictures of the rear set up?

I was asking about the six spokes. I've got 17" wrx alloys on my gl wagon right meow and they're a little much for me...
