still don't do that if a cop stops you just explain to them that MA doesn't issue temp tags at all and your just trying to get it back home to get it registered and stuff and show them the paperwork that way they know that you just bought the vehichle and are just trying to get it home and they are nice about that trust me on that cause when we got the OBS the temp tag kept falling off the rear window and then we would get stopped mainly cause of no tags and after reviewing the paperwork they let us go

and trust me that IS better than the shadetree method

sounds like me with my 83 a guy I work with had it and was talking with him all the time and also offering to help fix it up and all then one day he calls me and says he wants to sell it and asked me what would be a decent price for it, well for me I thought he was just asking so he can put it up on the emp board at work or something then when I said about around what he paid for (450) he turns around and asks me if I would buy it for 150 bucks and now I have it even though I am having issues with it still I am improving it from where it sat when I got it

Need advice for EA81 engine
bajavwnsoobnut replied to edrach's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I didn't know that EA-81's had Timing belts lol. So Ed might want to do that compression check and possibly a leakdown test to see if it is the HG if not I would think that it could be the intake manifold gasket is leaking. Either that or if you have weberized it it could be one of the carb gaskets is leaking. Oh yeah don't worry about the waterpump and oil pump unless they are leaking also considering we have the "phantom" timing belts lol. Hmmmm makes me want to check on the clutch belt also....... and oh yeah also the blinker fluid too........ -
k new is usualy better than 25-30 years old and thank you for your time since I forget to say that and again thank you

ok since it's been sitting for a year here goes, change plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and airfilter for plugs and wires get NGK trust me as for the hesitation and dieing drive it somemore after tuneup to get the crap out of the carb it might work the shimmy should be just the tires but the tire replacement and alignment is a good idea as for the auto that is sometimes normal cause of that is known as the slushbox among other names lol but might check the fluid levels after warming it up and with the motor running or else if you want to convert to stick that can be done somewhat easily just need the parts and time to do so

Noobie questions on my Subaru
bajavwnsoobnut replied to rabbit_39's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well if it's the EGR solenoid then might just get a replacement from u-pull it or any of your favorite JY's around here so that your DEQ happy cause I havn't gone through yet but by the sounds of things they do a visual check on things on anything newer than 79 so might leave the EGR alone and try the solenoid first and if need be stop by richies shop and talk to him even oh yeah where at in P-town are ya? I'm in Milwaukie myself and you might have seen me runnin around ya never know and another thing Welcome to the Board -

nope just the gen 2 wagons and brats that had turbos had auto's when the gen 3 vehicles came out they came in manual form also or should I say many types of manual form -
k the door jam weatherstripping is the same as your 76 and in fact the same for any and all Gen 1 vehicles (stage 1 and 2) so that should broaden the search a lil bit and the rear hatch is the same for almost all gen 1's too for the wagons except the 74 and older "tailgate" wagons

Yeah both Emily and Rick are nice people I have talked with them for a few years so far when they are online just ask Emily about her flowers she is very knowledgable about those too That's maybe why they have been in business for so long now cause they are honest and right to the point about all things -
could it also be the diaphram in the vac advance unit on the disty?

I forget the site but yes you can fit either one of those motors into the 914 cause the guy that has the site that I forget fitted a EA-82T into one then went and wedged a ER-27 (2.7 flat 6) into the same 914 and you hafta remember the 914/6 which had the 911 6 cyl in there so yeah I would think you have the room to fit anything you wish into one of those lil cars
