  1. I like my factory sub. I even sold my Bazooka so that it didn't take up cargo space and I like the overall sound of it.
  2. That isn't what he does all day....he is a rocket scientist!! (seriously) Hope to see it a carlisle next year....maybe you could autox it?
  3. they had a used 04 rubicon with 4k on it. It was $25K The sticker on this one was less than that one used. I really didn't want a 4.11 rear diff gear either. This is going to be a 97% street pounder so a rubicon is a little too much in this instance.
  4. I think #2 is a relay that switches the lights from DRL to regular use.
  5. I had no prior notice that anything was wrong. I topped the coolant off at about 6k (it was down just a shade) and I did an oil change at 9k (about 2 weeks before the trip) and all was well. I did have some smell of burnt coolant but I never really looked into it. The only reason I opened the hood in VA was because it was coming from somewhere and I was praying it wasn't my car. The gauges always stayed in the right spot (i had the $600 set in the center of the dash too!)(which had an oil temp gauge in it i might add). This car was mostly driven by my wife and had never been on a trip that was anymore than 100 miles from home till this lousy trip. It never really got driven too hard.....my wife works about 3 miles from home and with lousy traffic and hitting all the red lights it is still only about a 12 min drive. As for the additive: Ben is right. It might fix the leak for now but it will come back eventually and most likely it will clog your heater core later on in life. They never issued the recall for my car but maybe they should have.... BTW, this jeep is really cool in its own way....and it has one thing that no newer subaru has or will ever have.....LOW RANGE!
  6. do it and report back. I think it is a possability but i am not the most familier with lifted soobs.
  7. Yes! but....a warranty would not do you a world of good if you have to be home for work on monday. I most likely could have even got a rental car from them too but....who would want to go back to NC in a week or so just to give back a rental car and drive home another 8 hrs. It isn't a secret that subaru has some HG issues. I just felt that when you spend that much it sould go a little further than 10 k before a major brakedown. I cut my losses and got out early. Oh well...it isn't like I sold them all.
  8. -we got home at about 4:30 yesterday. - There was traces of combustion in the overflow. It was a HG for sure. - Ben: I'll give a call this week sometime...or you can give me a ring at your convience some evening. Cool score on the rabbit - if you mapquest the trip to Concord I think it is quicker on 95 and 85 that it is on 81 and whatever else you use. (as long as you can get through the DC area ok) - I'm still bumed about the forester.... I could just scream
  9. I dropped the damn thing like it was a hot potato. Here is a long story condensed to a very short bit#$ fest: I left my home on Friday morning to go to Concord NC (outside of Charlotte). It is about 500 miles. I got just into VA on I-95 and had to stop to take a leak. So did my forester. I noticed my coolant overflow was filled to the top and dripping on the ground. I left anyhow and went on my pi$$ed off way to Concord. I called my local dealer here to find out that he along with my suspicions think it was a blown HG. KEEP IN MIND THIS THING HAS 9800 MILES ON IT. That is right....9800 miles. Soooooooo I decided right then and there I wasn't going to put up with this lack of quality any longer. I have to be at work on Mon. morning and I really didn't think it was going to make it home. So I left the damn thing in NC....and bought a Jeep. That is right I traded my beloved xs forester on a Jeep. I got one heck of a good deal on a 2005 Wrangler X. I'm not going to lie to you all.....i am sick in the stomach about ditching the forester. I busted my a$$ to pay the thing off (2 months ago) and this is the thanks I get. Nope not anymore. Mark my word if my 05 OBS does this to me I am going to raise holy hell with subaru and maybe just stick to older MORE RELIABLE subarus. Its time to wake up Subaru.....can you hear me now?????
  10. geeeezzzzz maybe I need to do a little shopping when I am in NC this wknd....or I could stop by at about 1AM and borrow yours....(J/K) Sweet car dude! I think I would drive that one and beat the sh@# out of a not so nice one if you can swing it.... totally a 5 out of 5 bananas for you.
  11. I don't buy Mobil. it goes through my car like pi$$ water. Mileage always suffers for some reason.
  12. exactly what he said.... too bad your so far away....
  13. if you can't find a baja up there come on down.....you'll find one here i'm sure. There was a nice stick that was up in northern NJ a while back at a Dodge dealer... price was really good too! OTOH, you know if you upgrade you are going to take a chance of getting a less reliable vehicle (2.5) than what you have now. Welcome to the world of rod knock and HG's I love my 05 OBS but to be totally honest....I wish I would have kept the 95 I traded on it and just fixed some of the small crap and did a lift on it like the W. Coast folks are doing.... New car/newer car depreciation is a bi#$%
  14. had a prob with my old 02 LOB so i started using 89 and it went away. The dealer told me to do that once in a conversation with them about other issues. I said the book says 87 and he said....I know but... From then on all I use is 89 in the cars in my sig. (except the xt because it doesn't run...)
  15. I never knew there was links out there.... thanks Qman!
  16. WOW! it never ceases to amaze me the knowledge i learn from this board....
  17. I've looked and looked but I can't find the pages that have the pics of the different styles. help? TIA.
  18. I had an EA-81 do that to me once...it was the fact that the alt. had moisture in it (snow) and it was messing it up. Once it dried out it was fine though. Got a wet alt.?
  19. I have a PA inspection license: You will fail. There is no sticker issued for a 2 week period or anything like that. Fix your car then go get it inspected...otherwise you could get charged twice for the inspection (if you take the car and leave and bring it back later to get it to pass)
  20. Your gonna love it! I know I love my 05 impreza! Congrats. I give it on a 1-5 scale a 5 banana
  21. it was super good time.... Don't worry subie94 I don't think this will be the last of the parties.... hopefully.
  22. finally home (1:15am). what a long crappy drive...but it was totally worth it! Paul's pics are pretty cool but I always seem to have a dumb a$$ look on my face.. Keep the pics comming folks..... Sorry Michelle broke the crapper...
  23. If everything goes well..... I hope to have my newly aquired xt there next year. We did have a guy who was with the MG group park his XT6 with us but I guess he left before it got in any pics. Ben had his 6 there on fri. evening but had to let it home on sat. so he could drive the truck with the SVX racer on the trailer.
  24. We'll bring mac salad, potato salad, and a 12pk of soda. Cool?
