  1. WOW with clearance like that you could really show up the guys with the lift kits. I bet you wouldn't even hit on smooth gravel roads... I hope Zap and Qman see this....I wouldn't want you scaring them on the trail.... Seriously though...darn that low...if I ever make it out that way give me a ride... Matt
  2. stick shift all the way. Just remember your car is a SUBARU not a chevy truck with a 454 and 411 gears.... basically take it easy and don't over do it.... I had a legacy stick AWD once that had over 200k on it and I used it to pull my VW beetle around and my friends fiat spyder. Slow and easy is the key here and always anticipate braking.... Matt
  3. Fix the car!!!!! take what you can and get the damn thing fixed...it is so nice and rust free (for God sakes it is a turbo man...don't let it die such an early life) here in PA I could see $2995 on a lot. Matt
  4. from my experience subarus are horrible in the winter for gas mileage and the automatics seem worse to me too. Matt
  5. If you can get away with it go for it....I wouldn't fail you for it if I knew I could get away with it... I personally would just stick with the old "I didn't know officer...I just put it on and didn't know any better" Just because I have a PSI license doesn't mean I am a car nazi. As for the rest of the post....that is a lot of money for a lift kit. Did you talk to John (mudrat) and see if he can hook you up? Matt
  6. its not streching the meaning of anything....there is a 4" rule and that is what it is. Matt
  7. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In PA you can have a "body" lift. It cannot be anymore than 4". Also I know this because..... I have a PA state inspection license. Also aux. lights are not illegal and do not have to be covered up at all times UNLESS they are on a "roll bar" or a high mounted "light bar" As for Pa's underware being too tight....HA!!!! were beyond that....were well into a wedgie now.. Matt
  8. I'm in Lancaster county....but I will be in Meadville for dinner tonight....Does that count I too am a steelers fan. Hey Los: are you a Pitt student? Matt
  9. if need be do a 2.2 conversion and scrap the 2.5 alltogether.... Sell a 'yota or 2 to fund the project... Matt
  10. The price is too high. I was quoted by a local subaru mechanic (independant) $1200 and by my local dealer (subaru) $1600-1700. Don't sell the car....just find someone else to fix it and keep on going.... Matt
  11. I totally feel the same way and could not have said it better. Hope you are well Laura....time heals all wounds.... One less gen 1 in the world... :banghead: :banghead: Matt
  12. Your wrong....You can do it and make it last...the guy on here known as "subaru brat" had one on an RS and it went over 100k before he sold the car (he traded up to an STI). If you want to do it to tow....that in my opinion is another story. I don't care what anyone says....towing with a trubo is a bad idea. Matt
  13. When I had my 02 legacy OB it said AWP on my ins. policy. The car was stated: 02 Subaru Outback AWP so I didn't know what that meant so I figured it was "all weather package" maybe indicating that my car had the heated seats and all that crap (which it did). don't know to be honest but....there is my shot in the dark. Matt
  14. Lucas has nothing to do with your clutch slipping or not. The clutch is a dry plate (or darn well better be) and the oil hopefully will never touch it (if it does you have other issues). As for slipping and not slipping....lucky you...keep driving and when it gets worse then replace it. save your money and run it till it really slips. Matt
  15. I think this is what you are talking about....sound like a sweet car to me if it is still available. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=28889&highlight=outback Matt
  16. Drive it first!!!!! Look for half a$$ed repair in spots where it was fixed and ask if they have "before" pics of the car. I personally would do it if I was looking for a WRX (and was watching ebay myself at one time for a WRX wagon). Lastly look to see if it has an aftermarket BOV (blow off valve)...this will indicate that most likely a kid owned the car and beat on it. Just remember that the resale value is severely reduced with a repaired car but if you are planning on keeping it so what. Matt
  17. Sell that tranny to the dude who wanted to buy it for $500....then you have a $50 parts car or fix it up and sell it....or what the heck fix up both and sell them and get a really nice car for the wife (they seem to like that). Matt
  18. If you have an idea when you are going to the dyno please let me know.....I would love to see this and maybe make a few pulls in my OBS for sh%$s and giggles. I'm about 30-45 min away from them.... Matt PS: Good work as always kevin.....
  19. know what really sucks.....I want an xt-6 (and here is 3 of them) and I even have a rollback i could use to get them....but I have no place to put them untill I could part them out/make a good one.... double farts. Matt
  20. Something seemed strange to me too with that brat.... Lancaster Co. REPRESENT!!! (sorry had to do it) If anyone wants a brat from this area....talk to benebob about his grey brat that I would own if I would't have bought a new car last month.... Matt
  21. Kevin: When I was in NC back in Nov. WJM stopped by the motel to see me and the wife. He was driving his Rx with a c-bomb on the back. I believe my exact comment to him was "that sounds f'n sweet. Wow that sounds f'n good" If the guy at autozone doesn't want you to buy it....go to another store. Screw them. BTW, I thought c-bombs were like $15. Do it damn it.... Matt
