  1. Don't replace the tank unless it is shot. just clean it out on the inside..... Matt
  2. Since you don't have a digi camera don't worry about the pic. it isn't that big of a deal.... When you do the filler neck you might want to plan on removing the tank. The strainer in the tank most likely has rust crap all over it and is most likely to be strangling the fuel pump which will sooner or later die. Like I said...don't worry about the pic. does that car even have any rust on the body? Wow that thing is cool. (I always had a thing for the 3dr) Matt
  3. An NP-203 is FT4wd BTW. Had one in a 76 jimmy once. I love the 203... Matt
  4. hey sid did you see the brat forsale along 30? frame is not so good. was over for dinner in york on sat. night... Matt
  5. your car does have a hatchback but it is known as a 3 dr. a hatchback is totally different then the car you have. Just a little FYI. Also, i like the car...looks good and clean. Also since you are in BC I assume your cars speedo is in klm as opposed to mph? If so send me a pic if you can...i never saw one in metric. subeman@aol.com Welcome to the board! you will find a bunch of good stuff here and a bunch of good people out on your side of the country. Matt
  6. Whats so wrong with Pa.. welcome back.... where are you at in PA? For that matter where are all the Pennsylvanians at? Sitting pretty in amish country.... Matt
  7. hey subylover: those cars of yours are really nice....I just looked at the pics... I guess stuff stays nicer in Fla. (as long as the huricanes don't take them away...) Matt
  8. For anyone who cares.... Skip set me straight....this is a former car of his....not the one that I had... Sorry again for the hijack.....super sweet car still. Matt
  9. Skip: unless you had a turbo xt that one isn't yours. The only one I know of that you had was an XT6 that you sold to Dennis....who then put wrx rims on it and then sold it to me....who then took the wrx rims off and put them on my OBS and sold the xt6 because it was making funny motor noises (knock?) and the FT4WD didn't work at all. I hated that car..... now someone in the York PA area has it... sorry for the hijack..... matt
  10. as the subject says....why? jonofscio has this in his profile.... why???? what does this do???? am I missing something good???? Matt
  11. just as nice as when Dennis had it... but cleaner... I wish I could have got a ride before he sold it..... Matt
  12. Somebody get the vin off that thing.....I bet you could carfax it and find NY,NJ,PA,or CT in its past.... I see those trucks fairly often....they usually have wooden beds. :-p Matt
  13. "For the real test, compare pulling a stuck vehicle out of a snobank with a manual, then do it again with the auto ... ditto the stuck vehicle." I really do disagree but if i could I would take the challenge... Maybe since our snow here is more of a "wet" kind as opposed to the nice powder in the west that might make a difference too. I really need to see MT in the winter....sounds like fun! Matt
  14. I would rather drive 60 in fresh snow than 35 in the "ruts" anyday....as long as you know where the road is.... I'm sure many of our Canadian friends are used to this too! Matt
  15. I have a stick and love it. If you can drive the stick then get the stick. Matt
  16. H6 is nice but requires Premium fuel. H4 is pretty good to me in power. H4 has t-belts which need peoridic maintence. H6 nope! H4 is better on gas (which is cheaper because you can use reg. unleded) Honestly it is a toss up in my book. But, since it is a subaru it is a good choice. Me: I bought an 02 back in 2002 brand new and got the H4 but that was only b/c I demanded a 5 speed. If I could have bought an H6 with a sick shift...who knows.... BTW, the engine is Horizontally opposed not a "V" hence the "H". Matt
  17. I did this years ago.... First and foremost the "pin" you broke is a special metric bolt that you most likely will only find at your local dealer. It is $10 If you try to get the piece out or your mechanic tries and fails or screws up the caliper bracket it will cost you like $80 or so from the dealer. Here is what you do. Try to get it out or have the mechanic try. If you fail go to a junk yard and get another bracket. Don't be surprised if you have to buy caliper and all...(I did) but it will be much cheaper.... even the subaru dealer told me to look for used parts...he said it was nuts to order and pay for the new parts. Do NOT skimp on that bolt. It is metric threaded and hardened. When reinstalling use anti sieze on it too! (because of it being hard to find on a sat. afternoon I keep 2 on standby) Do what the person said about the wood in the caliper and limp the car home of to the garage. Save the money on the tow..... Side note: a rebuilt caliper doesn't come with the bracket....atleast the ones I have bought didn't. Good luck, Matt
  18. try and wedge something in the lugnuts to the ground. Cursing helps too.... Also, maybe you can put something on the wheel and pull both bars together at the same time. Matt
  19. wanted to add to my previous note.....a bad fuel pump (or one that isn't working as well as it should be) will cause problems like this too.... Also, if you put a new "Y" pipe on (where the cat is) replace the rest of the exhaust too. A cat can disintegrate (did I spell that right) and plug up the rest of the exhaust system.... then you spent all that money and the car will still run like @#$% Matt
  20. if your cat is bad your performance will get very slugish. As for prices that sounds to me like highway robery....go to an independant pipe shop and see what it would cost to make it for you. Matt
