  1. thats a Mark 8 (VIII) sorry for being a car nerd... Matt
  2. if you check on ebay sometimes you can get genuine subaru filters really cheap! I bought a bunch once and with shipping they were each less then a fram at walmart. Also, the factory filter that is on the engine is smaller then the one that you will use as a replacement...this freaked me out once and I thought I had the wrong filters....a call to the dealer made it all better. For those who don't know...the orig. engine filter is small and looks like an auto trans filter. strange stuff in my opinion. Matt
  3. super nice! the first pics kinda looked like an air suspension that was dragging rump roast really bad. This loos so much better now.... I'll be keeping an eye out for you later in the week....gonna be in Concord on thurs. till early sunday morn. look out for the guy in the black Passat tdi Matt
  4. If you didn't already think of this.....you might want to go hit some trails that you know and look around a bit....most likely a bunch of punks who just wanted to go off road it and might have ditched it in the woods. Good luck dude....I'd hurt them badly..... Matt
  5. how far are you willing to go? My garage guy is located in Denver PA just off the TPK @ the Reading interchange (old exit 21) if interested let me know.....I'll give more details. Matt
  6. I agree totally with mattocs and this other guy. You never did say what kind of subaru it is....if it is a legacy or legacy OB at 12 gal your light isn't going to come on....it is going to come on in the last 2 gal. of its useable amount..... legacy tanks are rated at 15.9 BTW. Matt
  7. the other 2 point straight up (verticle) not straight back (horizontal). You will need a small (stubby) phillips. Matt
  8. super easy.... take the cup holder thing out and the ashtray too. There are 2 screws behind the cup thing and 2 above the ash tray. (put the car in 4th gear for some room to work) the trim just pops off exposing the screws for the radio...you should be good after that.... Matt
  9. not trying to be a jack but are you sure its empty? I've already thought that I was super low and infact was only needing about 13 gal in a 15.9 tank (not enough to make the light go on) My OB really had to go super low before it went on and as for my impreza I can't say that I have ever seen it on. There is an adjustment on the SU which might help it get a better reading but honestly I wouldn't screw with it just for the sake of a light. Matt
  10. is your gauge accurate or not. I know akira's problem very well but I really don't follow yours.... My 02 OB that I had was really slow going up after a fill-up but there was never a problem. Is your car an impreza or a legacy or???? LMK, Matt
  11. the sending unit in the tank is bad. I fixed the one on my 95 impreza about 3 months ago. Parts were roughly $80 and it took me about 1/2 hr to do it. You can access the tank from inside the car (you don't remove the tank). If it is a sedan I don't know if you have to pull the seat but in the wagon you lift the carpet up in the back and tada the access holes are right there. once the cover is off start the car and unhook the electronic conector and when the car shuts off you continue to remove the hoses and all the nuts that hold the SU and fuel pump in. When you order the parts have your vin because they did use different SU's over the years....and don't be afraid to wait...mine took 3 days to get in. Also, contrary to what others have said on here....my impreza only has one SU. Other subaru's do use 2 though. Got questions....ask! Matt
  12. Yeah the "6" was there... Would have stopped if I had time but I had a bunch of stuff to do in little time.... Matt
  13. Happy b-day Josh!!!!! Matt
  14. where did she get the car anyhow???? Where does she live in relationship to you? i haven't been to her house yet. I went down your street tonight but I didn't see her xt. I did see a really nice brat though....you know charcoal grey and needing a new tire.... BTW, nice GT. Matt
  15. I'm not too fond of Walmart either. Read an article in a Union paper once about walmart....I stay away as much as possible. I've known your neighbor before she was ever your neighbor....I used to work with her at Wilbur Choc. (I'm still there...she isn't) If your ever in the Ephrata area go to Tire Consultants and check out what they have....I usually get a pretty good deal from them on stuff. Tirerack.com is a great place too! Matt
  16. I bought some tires out at the Walmart out on 462 in lancaster a few years ago for the hatch I had. They were some generic Douglas tires but they were great in the rain and snow. My buddy has some on his samarai at work and he likes them too!!! Did you consider going with pugs maybe???? Some 14" with some nice meaty tires.... BTW, I talked to your neighbor the other day...she told me about her "new" XT Good luck, Matt
  17. If you like the wrx but the maintence/added costs of ownership scares you why don't you look into a 2.5 RS It is almost identical without some of the things that you don't like about the WRX and it is much cheaper. I saw a 2.5 RS sport pkg wagon at the dealer last week and it had a sticker of 19K. That is right a brand new cool looking car for 19K!!!!! just my opinion though.... Matt
  18. you have a phase 2 engine. Not sure exactly what to tell you about when it will break if at all even. As for help to find a good mechanic....there are many great folks from out your way that should be able to point you in the right direction...I'm totally on the wrong side of the continent to be of any assistance. matt
  19. Not trying to scare anyone but one time in my (long since gone) 90 legacy 5 speed AWD my center diff was acting like you mentioned and not too much later it went bang and stopped dead right then and there. I think the internals comited suicide on the spot. Car had to be dragged from a parking lot etc. Be careful....... Matt
  20. 00 forester we had was great! the 04 we have now is better than great. The 00 was an automatic and while I hate autos I did like this one for some reason. The 04 is an XS 5speed. Like I said though....both are/were super sweet. honda's suck. Matt
  21. you made a great choice! In the long run I think you will be very pleased with the car....Congrats! and watch out for the "heat" aka the doughnut patrol. Matt
  22. if you want to take it home rent a uhaul truck and a trailer (not a dolly) and tow it home (one way rental). Might be expensive but sitting in a motel and waiting for someone to fix your car or cooking the engine in the middle of nowhere (montana, wyoming, south dakota etc.) sucks too and is very costly also. Good luck....sounds like ya need it right now. Matt
  23. Gremlin is more correct than pacer.... sorry. And to think I spent many years rideing around in a 74 Gremlin "X". Don't mess with the gremlin X!!!! Back on topic though....an xt6 wagon would be darn useful....room for all your stuff and some HP to move it along....and if it is AWD...bonus! That would be a great vehicle to tow a jet ski with. Matt
  24. If I remember correctly the back is from an s-10 blazer. Matt
