  1. To be honest, I cant remember, I remember doing the job at GDs house, and cant remember if we used a new pump or the same pump with a new gasket/seal... Its no big deal really, Im just curious how it suddenly just developed when I usually hear that the car was starved for oil or something... Because even though mine has a HG leak, it doesnt lose enough oil that I would have missed it and driven with no oil
  2. What are those? Its not hurting the motor... so I can just wait til I get an SPFI block? and then *cross fingers* that the new one has no ticking lifters, which like I said, sounds like it purrs like a kitten
  3. Totally misunderstood the reply the organizer posted. Just re-read it, thought he was saying that if GD was a member, he had to enter it himself. I shall vote for the hatch, thats a sick soob Rob!
  4. And eventually when I have the funds, he will get the Frankenmotor and an AWD swap, 5 lug swap etc, the works... I suppose I will just put up with it til I buy the SPFI motor and put my manifold on it and the one I have my eyes on purrs like a kitten so Im not worried about it Its just annoying cuz I swear it echoes in my garage.
  5. Thanks! I should have added more information. I use the Chevron oil.. 10W-30 and change the oil at about 2200-2500 miles (I tend to shift at over 4k rpms)
  6. On start-up the oil pressure sits at "45" on the gauge and doesnt seem to drop...
  7. So Im reading that "lifter tick" comes from starvation of oil, and can be caused from low oil, and the oil pump, cam tower o-rings etc can be to blame... I started Ned today, and hes got lifter tick... and I was like what the eff so I checked the oil, and its right above the Full mark... So I let it sit for about 2 hours, came back, checked the oil, and boom, still perfectly above the full mark... Started him and still got the tick. GRR I realize that most would say "rebuild the lifters" but Mizpah (spelling could be off) just did that in October or November I believe (I put them in at GDs house around that time) What should I do? I let him run for about 5 mins, and still got the ticking, should I take him for a drive and see if maybe the oil just isnt circulating well? Oil pump I believe was brand new at the time too. With new mickey mouse seal and that red sealant (not good with names here) Loctite 518 maybe?
  8. I texted GD, I think he should enter Turbones old hatch in it. People know it and its sick!
  9. I actually did some 94 Loyale wheels a little bit ago (couple weeks, maybe a month or so) that I took gray/grey steelies, painted them black and then put chrome rings on them with the center caps re-done and it looked SICK! It was for a buddy. His were on a white 1994 Loyale wagon. I just sanded the rust off and primered them with black primer and then gloss black rust-o-leum and they looked great, I woulda taken a picture but I didnt think of it at the time
  10. I have 3 chrome rings that Ive tried to brighten up to look good, and I put them on my steelies just for fun, soon to be getting rid of that set of steelies and getting a different set... I had the little center caps, but I think they went with the Wagon wheels I painted black and sold... but I do have 3/4 rings if you wanna hit me up or something, could probably get them flat-rated. Theres obviously some curb rash on them, but nothing major and they arent dented as far as I can tell.
  11. That makes total sense... Ive had a few girlfriends say that its "awesome" that I have a family sedan already... Someday he will be 4 door monster that insures as a family sedan.... Personally, Ned will be my DD/Playtoy and when I have to take the kids somewhere... Ill get a Forester... I would say Legacy GT... the newer ones... buuuuttttt I think thatd be another playtoy... and if I got a Forester, it would be a 2004/2005 Forester XT which means thatd be a playtoy... Hmm.. Guess Im bound to have a dilemma someday...
  12. I cant help but think someone is trying to come out of the doghouse FWD 1.8 should give you very good MPG and would make a great DD.
  13. Not a big fan of that... I mean its cool, but for the style of it... I would rather have a Subaru brat or an old 360 van/truck type thing.
  14. Why did you decide on the EJ18 vs EJ22 or Frankenmotor?
  15. I think I understand what youre asking... Like is your linkage not hooked up correctly or is there something internally in the transmission that isnt allowing for a 2WD/FWD option?
  16. Am I just lost in what you are saying? All the way up/forward is 4LO, Middle is 4HI and All the way down/flat is 2WD on my 86 Dual Range 5 Speed... If it wont go down into the FWD (if thats what youre asking, still a little unclear as I read this and I apologize, could be lack of sleep) Get the car straight and drive it forward in a straight-straight line, and then try and push the lever down... Should work, if not, I would say something is wrong..
  17. Heres the background. Started the car today, and noticed that Im running a bit rich (gas "popping" out of the exhaust). Also noticed to the left rear tire, where the exhaust is, its dripping gas out (exhaust leak) Thinking of re-doing the entire exhaust from the Y-Pipe back... I think it was some off-size, like 1.5" or 1.75" which goes up to a 2.5" cherrybomb muffler.. Questions: - Can I go to a 2" pipe from the Y-Pipe back or do I need a custom Y-Pipe? - What are the effects on the Cherrybomb sound? - Quieter, Louder, Same? - I need to get the piping bent, do I need to take in my old exhaust or is there some kind of schematic somewhere that has this information on where it needs to bend? Thanks in advance! Vehicle is a 1986 GL Sedan - Weber Carbed EA82 - Soon I will be using an SPFI block with the Carb manifold
  18. Glad to hear that shes up and running
  19. I was just showing people your Brats and this thread.. This is awesome Mike! Great job!
  20. the knocking sounds like what happens on my car... Lift up the front end and grab both sides of the tire and wiggle it... does it move side to side a lot? Also while its on the ground try and shake the wheel and see if you hear a clunking.. If you do, this could be tie-rods like mine is. While the car is in the air, turn the wheels, does it feel like the pad is grinding/sticking while its moving forward? If not and the noise continues, theres a chance its wheel bearings.. but those dont really grind in my experience... they squeal... How many miles on the car?
  21. I agree with GD. It cant be that far off... I ran 195/60/15 and didnt see 5mph difference in my speedometer reading... maybe 2-3mph off from GPS (Speedo say 35, be doing 33 according to GPS)
  22. I had hit quote and almost wrote out that you should check for power windows, locks, mirrors and speakers and make sure they are all plugged in before you assume you have extra wires... Guess you got it happens to everyone, glad you solved it
  23. Ill be picking up the 3M adhesive remover. My brother read on a 240sx forum that the goo is often called "dum dum" and the 3M removes "dum dum" like its "chalk on a chalk board" So ill be picking this up to get the old black silicone off and I should have loads left over for if I need to take the tail lights out (for painting). It appears as those these strips are highly recommended.
