  1. They are both fuel injected... so you dont have that big of a difference... I dont do any serious offroading... but I love the D/R 4X4 vs the P/B 4X4. I have had a 1992 Loyale and now a 1986 GL sedan (current DD) My current has a weber carburetor where as the Loyale was fuel injected, but the only options that were "nicer" about the Loyale would be the auto seat belts, which I found to be PITA and the high rise console (which actually is pretty cool and has more storage options)
  2. I might have an ignition switch...
  3. The newer cars are all getting brighter and brighter lights... Hell, some stock cars are coming with 6000k-10000K lights. I think HIDs are a great way to make our older scoobs just as safe as the new cars are. Im not trying to thrash people or anything, but I definitely think its a good idea. Im thinking of doing projector HIDs like Turbone did, depends on the labor involved. I do it for safety. The fact that my dark blue car looks good with blue lights is just a bonus.
  4. No biggie. I didnt take it to heart I will look into it when your write-up gets finished and I might do it, but might just keep the HIDs that I have... Yours look pretty sick though, nice job!
  5. I didnt need help. Guy said they were plug and play and I said sweet, installation was an extra $25 bucks and I was like, nah, but then he ordered the wrong kit so he said hed install them for free, so I said sure. Ive done 5 since then on a couple of other cars. Its pretty easy. Looks like a cool install though...
  6. I cant wait, Ill be very interested to see how you can do that. It looks sick.. Im assuming youll have night and visibility shots right?
  7. Oh no. Is it really an autotragic? I is just messin But nice HIDs Rob! I want some! Do tell the secret! Tom - Nice! Those are great! They look a little more white than mine... maybe mine are 8000K (more blue, less light)
  8. Congrats I cant wait to see a thread about it!
  9. Ill be in a Subaru so I wont park away from everyone in a Pontiac... I dont know exactly where you wanna be though since I dont know where the "Canadian" end will be... but Ill save you a spot... Ned will mark it
  10. That lever on a manual shift set-up should always mean that its a 5 speed dual range (unless its a 4 speed d/r ) I speak of the GL series though as Loyales had P/B 4X4 (4-hi) and Im not sure about the other models, but I know from looking at that, its a 5 speed d/r
  11. Thats a d/r 5 speed. Its just missing the sticker.
  12. I have no issues with my battery or alternator... I have an aftermarket battery, but it doesnt have any issues. As for a how-to... Hmm... Its pretty much plug and play really.. I have ones that arent connected to my battery, they use my stock wiring to power a box, which powers the light, if I have that correctly... I gotta look. It was super simple. The guy that was "showing" me how to install them spent 2 hours (while I waited) on a 4Runner, then I brought mine in, and it took us 20 mins to do both lights (including searching kits for the 9004 kit he had bought)
  13. Ill join in. The Troutdale Chevron at 10am works for me. I can also be very flexible with it because I dont have any plans for that weekend other than WCSS I think itll be me in Ned and Nick in his 1995 Impreza, not sure if hes keeping it though.
  14. How far from CDA are you? I think Twitch de la Brat and Girlwithalegacy will probably be coming...
  15. Yea I think Ill wait to comment when someone else starts one. Im a terrible organizer, plus I probably wont be doing as much wheeling as everyone else because Im stock height.
  16. Boom Im in Is someone going to start a WCSS mud/wheeling thread in offroad or should I do that?
  17. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=121106 has all the info you need.. People arrive friday, August 26th but the show is the 27th and 28. http://www.westcoastsubarushow.com has information too. Not much convoys for me... Im 60.0 miles from my doorstep to the fairgrounds :/
  18. I love mine. 6000K HIDs. I can see SOOO much further. The only thing... NEVER leave them on... When you shut off your car, and then start it again, occasionally, one bulb will not work, and all it takes is flipping the lights off and on and then it will warm up... oh yea... warm up, it takes about 5 seconds to achieve full brightness. I warn because I have gotten a ticket for insufficient lighting even though all I had to do was flip the lights off and on Id just forgotten to do it.
  19. Yours is first on my list because I know your work and would trust it under my hood, but if its not available at the time or anything I would look for another one.
  20. Its awesome... But, I have the cheap-o ones that are blue on low and yellow on hi... I was told that they last longer and are cheaper to replace :-\ I want to go with the real ones, but I have to have the funds first On that note (and back on topic) I taped the confirmation on Ned's hood so he would feel better: 1 driver side tie rod end 1 Passenger side tie rod end 2 inner tie rod ends 2 steering rack "bellows" (boots) are on their way to my doorstep! GD has my wheel bearings, and I will have tires soon... Ned will no longer be "crippled" in the garage!
  21. Thats exactly what Im hoping for since I dont know when the SPFI engine will be available.
  22. So it was a new pump Sweet, Im not crazy haha. I plan to do the swap to the SPFI block and hopefully it wont have ticking lifters... I know I use my manifold, if I only use the SPFI block and keep everything else from my engine, I will put new lifter buckets, the springs and rebuild the lifters (have Mizpah do it) and a new oil pump, just so I dont have to deal with it again for awhile.
  23. Id be careful... Seems like hed go through extreme measures... Maybe hi-jacking a helicopter or something? haha
