  1. i have done this same thing on my 87 GL-10, and want to clear a few things up. not to cause any problems. but a 87 GL-10 will not be FT4WD nor will it have the 4EAT. the 4EAT did not come out in the GL's till 89. thus the GL-10 has a 3AT and will be PT4WD. witch is a good thing since you want to swap to a M/T. because the 3AT turbo auto has 23 spline axels just like your D/R M/T. the auto axel ratio will be 3.7:1 and you will need to find a 3.9:1 diff to go with your D/R. your spedo cable will need to be swaped out but any M/T gl cable will work. you will need to find a pedal box and clutch cable. and the front section of rear drive shaft from a manual trans. you will have to jump the ECU or jump the gear select switch so the ECU thinks its in P or N. now if you want your ceruse control to work you will also have to wire in a clutch switch so it will cancel when you push in the clutch. (this is a must or your engine will rev to the moon when you push in the clutch, after forgetting to turn of the CC). i will be watching this thred or PM me if you have any other questions. -=Suberdave=- www.suberdave.com
  2. did they ever have any power? just kidding, if it only dose it when you open the throtle plates 100%, check your TPS for a flat spot. also check fuel pressure. put a gauge on it and drive it with it taped to the windsheld. this way you can see if you are loosing pressure under WOT. i have replaced many fuel pumps (on nonSubarus) that had plenty of pressure at low RPM's but did non pump enough volume at higher RPM's or under load. also make sure you dont have a dirty air filter, or a dirty MAF. if you suspect a bad MAF, (i think 87.5 is hot wire) get some MAF cleaner and clean it out. just a few thoughts. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  3. I hate to say it but I think your wrong... The cylinder # has nothing to do with the driver. The #1 cylinder on any engine foreign or domestic, is the one closest to the front of the engine, closest to the radiator. It should be the right front cylinder, or passenger side front on any Subaru. Note: right and left on a car is always when you are sitting in the driver’s seat. Never when looking under the hood. -=Suberdave=- www.suberdave.com
  4. like i said the ID was fine, the OD was close to 3/16" to large. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  5. i think the set i have are for brimbo plates. ill bring them they may work. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  6. the rings you sent me a while back are to big. i hope these ones are smaller. the ID is right but the OD is to large for legacy backing plates. if they are i will call dibs on atleast one set if not two. -=Suberdave=- www.suberdave.com
  7. well the only EJ's that have 2 O2 sensors are OBDII engines. since this engine is OBDI it dose not have a post cat O2. one bung is for the O2 sensor, and the other bung is for an EGT sensor. or at least thats how it works on both the EJ20s i have done... -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  8. looks like an EJ20K. most likely from 1996-98. should be 280HP. good luck with the swap, if you have any questions shoot me a PM. i may be able to help. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  9. i want to know more about the lowered wagon in the back. man that thing is slammed... more pics!!! but realy that lifted wagon looks awesome... -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  10. here are a few more pics of my wagon... also check out my websight for many more pics... http://www.suberdave.com/subaru/Leone/ and the interior is not all that bad. yeah they can use some better seats but other than that its prety comfortable... -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  11. if you have a 25 spline EA trans than the EJ axle will fit. or if you have a 23 spline axle from a FWD impreza than it will fit your 23 spline EA82 trans. if your talking about the rear drive shaft. it will fit into the trans but it is about 2 inches to long to fit. more info on what your talking about will get better info in return. -=Suberdave=- www.suberdave.com
  12. here are a vew videos of my car at play, a little different kind of play but fun none the less. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu31uBDqDBw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UcCNsYZa68 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4amev8uNn0 -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  13. i have pulled a few D/R cases apart and it looks like it would be a very easy swap to just switch out the Low Range shafts... will be trying it this summer. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  14. i had the same problem with my last EA82T. when it was at idle the O2 sensor would go flat, then run rich. to fix it i put in a heated three wire O2 sensor. then it flew through emmissions. just a good new sensor may have worked but i had a custom downpipe with no cat or heat shelds. i think the cat in the downpipe helps keep it up to temp at idle. -=Suberdave=- www.suberdave.com
  15. subarutex did it on his RX he had. looked awesome, but if i remember he had some problems with it. dont knew if it was the rails or something else though. -=Suberdave=- www.suberdave.com
  16. yes i have done the 05+ Legacy struts with the 5lug setup. it is totaly awesome. i have had some cheep slide on's before and they were hard as nails. the setup i have now is probably the nicest setup ever on a 80's GL. now if i only had some new bushings (they will be done this summer) all would be well. my car has been ran at auto crosses and tracked on a road course. and the car handles awesome. defantly worth the money invested... questions shoot me a PM pics can be seen at my webpage. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  17. i have done 2 EJ20G swaps into EA82 cars. one RX and one wagon. its not all that hard to do. if you have any questions shoot me a PM. i have a quick how to somewhere on this sight... -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  18. i live about 3 miles from there. i had 3 different people tell me that they saw a lifted subaru on the side of the road... i laughed and said... yeah i herd. just glad it wasnt mine... glad to hear you got it fixed... -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  19. what year WRX. the axels will fit just fine. or the axels you have now will fit. the WRX will need 25 spline axels, so you should already have that covered. the rear diff R&P should swap onto your carrier just fine. this has been done many times. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  20. Here you go... its been done... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=82939 you can see the three subies i have done here... the two Wagons i have and the WRX RX-RA i built and sold to sister7... -=Suberdave=-
  21. they came off of the 1996 WRX clip i got my engine from. i beleave they are the same as the USDM markers. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  22. yeah that is the thing i hate about video... but i can tell you that on the long stright strech i top out the car when the fuel cuts. ( i have herd that the Z4 ecu cuts fuel at 118 MPH) other cars are topping out at 150 or higher... -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  23. yep $260 for the all day laping, but seat time $ for $ its not all that bad, beats paying $35 for the drag strip and only getting a half dozen runs for a total of 2.5 mins of running... thats $14 a min for the strip and less than $1 a min for the road course. but your right its not cheep last time i spent $85 on gas alone... but hey i only do it once or twice a year so what the hey... -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
  24. if you want to race out there you have to take the one day high proformance driving school, this is what i was doing in this video. this is ~$500 if you use your own car. the next time you go out you have to pay for an instructor for the first 50 mins... this is ~$250 + $150 for the instructor. then you are good to go whenever they have an open track day. this is ~$250 again for the all day class slightly less for just the afternoon. -=Suberdave=- http://www.suberdave.com
