  1. Heaven knows we've got extras Once again, Connie, you're welcome to your choice of the stable. Got a nice '88 wagon that'll give a brand-new '07 a run for its money
  2. I could be wrong. I'll shoot him an email or a PM later...I don't think so though.
  3. I use 10W30 year-round in everything. No real problems, and if anyone cares I generally use Mobil Clean 5000.
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the only manual trans you can put behind an XT6 without swapping drive axles is the '87.5-'91 5MT full-time 4WD unit that came in XT6es and GL-10 turbo sedans and wagons. (The RX full-time 4WD 5-speed might bolt right in too but there's no good place to put the hi/lo selector lever in the XT's cockpit.)
  5. Paul, if you mean Olsi in New Canaan (his board name is OLS) he just sold his Legacy sedan and bought a Mitsubishi Montero Sport. His wife's still driving a Legacy wagon though. If he's not who you mean, I have no idea.
  6. OK, here's what we seem to have so far: (please, if you see this and you have different information, correct me if I'm wrong) moosens - bringing 3 - 3 cars paid Bucky92 - bringing 2 - 2 cars paid, one campsite paid WagonsOnly - bringing 3 - 3 cars paid nkx - bringing 1 - 1 car paid goobaroo - bringing 1 - 1 car paid Subeman90 - registered 3 - 3 cars paid njdrsubaru - bringing 1 - 1 car paid Hocrest - coming mr_whirly and Mrs_Whirly - coming with 2 cars RallyKeith - coming with at least 2 cars LeakingOil - coming benebob - coming 75subie - may come Manarius - may come Quidam - may come GoldDiggerRoo - may come subyrally - may come jeep5.9litre - may come backwoodsboy - may come hatchsub - may come Dennis ex24 - may come mattocs - may come That gives us 20 cars definitely coming, and fourteen of those are paid for...we should qualify for the tent. (that's also assuming that Melis, Ben and Dave only bring one car each). I only went by the stuff in the previous six pages, no outside info was involved-so please feel free to correct me (or if you're a mod, just go ahead and edit).
  7. That sounds like a great deal to me, I'd be all over that if I needed a car. As for the FWD fuse, if you lose a tire and have to run on the compact spare, inserting the FWD fuse and running the car in front drive (and putting a full-size rear tire on the front if it was a front tire that deflated) will take unnecessary stress off the rear differentia, which otherwise would have to compensate for the difference in diameters of the tires and wheels.
  8. They were pretty flexible about letting us shuffle around our registrations to other cars last year.
  9. It would look okay, but personally I'd keep your rear seat and look for '89 XT6 seats for the front. (What fabric do you have? The checkerboard seats are really rare and worth hanging on to.)
  10. As has already been stated, it'll only go off unless the key is turned off or out of the ignition, or all doors are locked. Try spraying the door locks with CO contact cleaner, as graphite or grease or something may have shorted the sensor. Worked on my mom's GL-10.

  12. Oh, so his board name is themoneypit...I thought you were just mocking me Try Brakleen and some fine-grained rubbing compound (going with the "grain" of the wheel). Worked great on my Motion alloys and on a set of XT6 centers. (If you need centercaps I have eight, let me know and they're yours.)
  13. No problem, I won't be cluttering the Soob showfield with my Cabrio either. (still hopefully bringing the '75 and something else). I'll look forward to meeting you there!
  14. Hey, I might end up bringing a VW. :-\ The Subaru section will be pretty easy to find, they have cars grouped by country. We were across from the Italians last year. Instructions...directions are at carsatcarlisle.com , you get a yellow registration card in the mail showing what you paid for, and you'll just want to take that to the registration building by the main entrance to get the credential sticker(s).
  15. Nope, you'll need to find a 5-speed out of a '76-'79 1600 GF hardtop, '76-'79 FE coupe, or any 5-speed box from a Subie with a 1600 engine in it. (The '75 5-speed from the GL Coupe and the GF hardtop may also work, I think the bellhousings are the same--but I'm not 100% sure.)
  16. Also, parts that aren't safety related (like brake parts, etc.) are getting pretty hard to find.
  17. Trouble spots are suspension, body (rust and trim), carburetor, air conditioner (if it has one)...parts are fairly scarce...and gas mileage will probably not top 30. I'd expect around 28 on the highway with the four-speed. The interiors on the early cars are pretty uncomfortable too. Ask anyone here if they're great cars and we'll all say yes--but we only drive them on weekends. Hope this helps.
  18. If there was one in that box of A/C parts you gave me, it's not there now (or at least I can't find it). Check and see if Charlie has two.
  19. Excellent collector's cars and miserable daily drivers. If you know of one for sale and are considering using it on a daily basis, please pass on it and let the collectors/preservationists know about it. Personally I wouldn't want anything older than an '85 as a daily.
  20. If he passes and I pass on his passing, I'll pass it on.
  21. Welcome! I'm a Mass native, homesteading in Connecticut but about fifteen minutes away from you at Franklin Pierce in Rindge. I'm sure you'll get much enjoyment and many miles out of your new purchase. The board looks forward to serving your needs.
  22. No, I haven't...and it was nice of you to let me know that, since I have an emissions test coming up next month :-\
  23. Then your Brat had problems. This thing will keep up with freeway traffic (65-70) only if you keep it in THIRD gear to go up hills. I think the cat is clogging too...But again, it's a throwaway. And it's only left me stranded twice so far.
  24. PM box emptied. Let me know if you pass on your old Brat. The Metro is with me up in NH, nowhere near as fun as the convertible (an extra 400lbs of steel will do that to a 3cyl!) but it's holding it's own. I've put 4500 miles on it since I got it from you...still on the original tranny, just not using second. And no, it won't hold a candle to any old Soob. I took it here because it didn't matter if it got stolen or wrecked.
