He's right you know. People don't just say they're a shit engine for the fun of it. They're pretty much the worst engine Subaru ever built... You want power in your EA, repower it with an EJ. Hell, if you NEED boost, repower it with an STI engine and 6-speed.

Oh that sucks man. Welcome to the forum Sounds like a spark kinda thing. Check if you're getting spark to all four plugs, check plugs themselves, rotor, cap, etc. If all thats good see if you're getting fuel.

Definitely is a good idea, but the engine bay is pretty shocking for filling up with water when you're in a river over the bonnet (trust me I know, the whole car is ) I personally thing right up under the dash is the best place to put the ECU. If it were easy I'd have put one on my roof ages ago!

How can you have a waterproof box that is ventilated? Just be clever and install it in the roof somehow

Spent an hour or so redoing Numbchux's EA to EJ manual to make it a bit easier to read and a bit more practical in paper format in the workshop. Just get a 40 sleeve folder and you have a nice little grease-proof EA to EJ guide, all laid out neatly! Please tell me what you think Link here.

Hmmm...might be something to do with your heater. I used to have strange noises coming from right behind the electronic temp control, a weird sloshing sound. Turned out I had an air bubble in my heating system

What is often done in NZ is we take the 2.2l block and heads, and slap a carbed EJ18 intake and carb on top - easy carbed 2.2l. They run quite well from what I've seen - I've seen one at a gas station in a Brat. You ever heard of/tried that?

I know. Imagine an EJ22T with DOHC STi heads and intake/fuel system. Now that would be an indestructible powerhouse. Say, do you know if the standard EFI EJ22s came out closed deck?

Makes sense, I suppose while we were luck to get the early STIs, the EJ22Ts were never imported, which sucks big time

2004? WTF! Even in NZ we've had STIs for well over 15 years. Thats incredible. What version was the first US one? You know why they weren't imported? Some silly US law or something? Or was it just the whole RHD problem? I'd wholeheartedly agree with that statement. Lol.

Hey all, Was in the process of reading the EA 2 EJ manual written by Numbchux, and found it to be a little hard to read and navigate, just because no page numbers etc, and a little messy in places. Being bored, I decided to tidy it up a bit, and make it like a booklet, so you can print it out , slap in it a folder and have it on hand when you're working on your subie. Its the exact same info, just laid out a bit more precise and easy to navigate. Probably a bit of a waste of an hour, but hopefully it'll help someone. Link here Please tell me what you think!
