Gas filler neck alternatives
xbeerd replied to jarl's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXim with Jon^^ on that one. mine was rusted out with holes in spots, but damn, not that bad! (also wisconsin car) i just sealed it up and the vent tube on the side i replaced with a fuel line hose. if i recall, i cut off all the rusty crap. cut some metal to cover it and then jbwelded it in place. not sure how long that'll last but im sure it'll outlast the rest of the car. unfortunately.

ea82 swap
go to Numbchux Conversions EA2EJ manual its a great start! even if you are doing an obdii swap, the basics are there, but the obdii is slightly different wiring etc. i did it, and i've never attempted anything this drastic before! just take your time and READ

Back to the old school. 01 EJ swap lovin.
hey Tosh, did you ever figure out a remedy to those Fuel temp/level codes? im getting those too. i figure i probably just need to track down the wire and put a resistor in it by the ecu. other than that, my stuffs running, im gonna get a EJ radiator today and swap that for the EA since my buddy is hookin me up for free..

360,000 Mile Service
xbeerd replied to axgutt's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDo you do the work yourself? or have a shop do it? if you do the work yourself, i would say do it! but then i dont know the other quirks your car has. and also i just did a Ej swap on a car that rotting away in the midwest. LOL. if it were my car, i'd probably get a timing belt kit and do the job. great to hear its served you well for so long!

i made an exhaust for my car. 24" glasspack to a 60degree bend exiting just infront the rear wheel on the drivers side. now to plug up that pesky rear o2 sensor bunghole pics to come.

My '95 Legacy: Trashwagon10
i find it odd that if its runnin that ************ty, there is no CEL or anything.

My '95 Legacy: Trashwagon10
dude! fox didnt even post in this thread. and you said you had $1500 in it. now $2500? if all those sensors are going, do you think maybe its an electrical problem? is the alternator doin its thing? battery good?

My '95 Legacy: Trashwagon10
whatever, good luck fixin it.

fuel economy.gov lists a dodge 5.9 at 13mpg. if you are getting that low on your soob.. is there a puddle under the car? LOL. maybe the fuel pump regulator is dumping too much fuel in as suspected. what if you put the little 5psi fuel regulators on the fuel lines? it'd be double regulated! or 1.5x regulated since the FPR is possibly acting up.
-
My '95 Legacy: Trashwagon10
sounds like you got a problem with your soob... lol.

nobody should have to suffer that bad.

now watch.. it'll start rusting. LOL.

My '95 Legacy: Trashwagon10
well.. saves time. AAA is like $100/yr and much less than a truck and a trailer. and they'll tow the car up to 100 miles to where i want if needed. Doesnt even have to be my car, i just have to have been in it.

My '95 Legacy: Trashwagon10
after the first time, i learned to say flatbed about 30 times on the phone with the guys. although we have AAA, and since then, they havent had an issue, they hear subaru and automatically send a flatbed. atleast around here they do.

My '95 Legacy: Trashwagon10
Looks fine on the stove there...

My '95 Legacy: Trashwagon10
was it a AAA tow guy?
-
My '95 Legacy: Trashwagon10
you might get $1500 if you painted it all one color. not to many people interested in a trashwagon theme. lol. Are you getting any CEL with the issues or no?

ECU to activate radiator fan using radiator fan 1 control wire?
i drove the car a bit today, fan came on like it should, i do think i wanna get a second fan hooked up to the thermoswitch, maybe just a 10" i can just use the existing wiring from the old fan and not have to do anything else right? So with the 220ohm resistor i put in with the temp gauge wiring. this is where my needle sits about when the fan kicks on. would you say this is good and i shouldnt bother trying to dial it in. as in any idea where it would have to get on the gauge when catestrophic failure would occur? (just based on the needle position?)

ECU to activate radiator fan using radiator fan 1 control wire?
ok, i guess it just didnt get hot enough then. i'll have to take er for a spin i guess. now on the issue of this diode on the wire. do you have a general diagram or anything on how to wire it in? (from the other thread on the pot to set the engine temp gauge) i guess i just dont see how the ecu is going to see any backfeed on my circuit as it shouldnt see any other voltage besides when it activates the coil. maybe im just missing something?
-
Using a Potentiometer to fine tune EA2EJ temp gauge's.
im sorry, yeah mine is from a 2000. i cant find my diagram from the 2000, but it lists the same for the 2000impreza i found here below as far as this diode goes, then i would wire it inline as such? with diode the other way, wouldnt electrical flow be stopped thus no grounding out the relay. ECU--------Red/blue wire-------------|<- DIODE ------------red/blue wire------ negative side of relay coil------())))))coil)---- fused 12v+
