Finally, some pics of my new Brat...
Jibs replied to Hocrest's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That's a sweet Brat! I am glad to see them going to good homes. I don't know on those tires though. -
Where to install aftermarket stereo
Jibs replied to [HTi]Johnson's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Here's a pic of how mine worked in my Gen 1 Brat: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=128&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 I had to take out the stock radio and the clock. -
I'd definitely go for it. Of course, there'd have to be some sort of retro thing going on in it, but anything and everything would be cool. I'd get a subscription.

Where does the Justy owner fit in on this site?
Jibs replied to Just a Justy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
would it be possible to lift a Justy? That'd look cool I think -

Jibs replied to lumpycam's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That's awesome! After looking at that, I realize that I DO have a couple of gen 1's just sitting around. maybe I'll work on one of those. Brats always look so cool lifted. Good work for a job well done. -
BRAT shifter kart under way
Jibs replied to subarubrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, if it ends up looking like your Brat, you'll have one of the coolest Duo's out there. Would this BratKart be able to race if you wanted though? -
Me and a buddy went and tubed the Truckee River today from Pick N pull down past Lockwood. It was about 4 miles of open slow moving current and we had fun. We just sat on our tubes and let the river take us. We also found some Huge Rapids that bottlenecked out of this Beaver dam where the whole of the river flowed through about 6 feet. It was exhilirating. We should all do something like this when we all meet up. I know lots of cool places to tube, jump, hang out and swim on the river, its way fun.

Yeah, those are enkies I believe. I think they are the best looking painted rims for a Subaru!
-
Ditto, we can even come partway down there to you Sactown Guys if you want. We all need to hook up and hang out. Its June, and it's getting nice out there. Like Dave said, the roads around Tahoe are open, and that is such beautiful country. Our cars don't need to be running perfect, we don't need to go crazy. A BBQ would be awesome - I'll chip in. Lets do this.
-
I think that we should set up a mini meet sometime at the end of June or early July. Even if we don't get doing anything too crazy, it'd be fun to get together. Let's decide on a day or two sometime later, I have Friday and Saturday off.

New in the Subie experiance
Jibs replied to QLMacGregor's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Welcome to the board. It's definitely cool to see more people in our area getting involved here, we definitely have great times ahead of us. For an easy bolt on lift kit contact PK Davis at ozified.com, or check with John (Mudrat79) for a custom lift. Both are fairly close, and our junkyards are usually filled with dead soobs, so there's not too many parts shortages here. Please, post any questions here, we'll be glad to help. -
Introducing - The Israeli Subaru Fan Club

sounds like fun, glad we could all help out. -
Is it harder to fit an ER27 into a brat than an EJ22? Just wondering.
-
It happens only when I accelerate and only when in gear. It didn't have any problems when I took it in, but it was beat up kinda bad when I took it to him. It drove fine over there and fine after I got it but 3 days after it craps out.
-
I wouldn't have seized the engine if I can drive it in 4WD right? I'll check that tomorrow, I left the Brat at work. Is there anything else it might be off the top of your head so I can have a guy look at it tomorrow?
-
I checked the transmission fluid as well and it was fine. Does it go bad? The car was sitting for a while, does that matter?
-
So I get my Brat back a couple of days ago after getting some welding and hammering done, and I go to turn the corner at lunch and I hear this grinding noise up front somewhere. Whenever I give it gas, there is a metal on metal sound somewhere. I can't give it gas without the sound. So I throw it in 4 Hi and I am fine. Drove it back to my work and checked oil which was very low. When I picked the car the guy said everything was checked and was fine. I can't take it back because they'll charge me a couple of hundred dollars to check around. Any idea of what it could be?

Relocating to Reno Nevada...
Jibs replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Housing is all right, I know that they are rising though because of all you Bay area and Sac town Peeps are coming in drones! Reno was like in the top 25 for business growth so I don't think that work would be a problem. You could work in the summit warehouse so you could hook us all up! Whatever you want though. -
My parents' red 82 wagon had 237,000 miles when we parked it and it was running fine. Not even close to yours but...

Sheet of Plywood hits my soob on the freeway
Jibs replied to subieman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Dang Jeremy, I am glad to see you're all right. I guess that's why I saw the soob parked in your backyard when I came home. I couldn't tell that it was crunched though. I hate these Reno drivers, a lot of them shouldn't be driving. I see stupid people driving all the time here. -
the goat - my friends say the EXACT same thing "Why don't you sell them and get a NEW car?" I won't ever because I don't like any of the new models that are out now that I could afford. Sure I would like to drive a porshe or a viper, but I am never going to be able to afford one. For the amount of money I'd spend on a new vehicle (20,000$$) do you know what I could do to a subaru? Just imagine. I just don't like new cars, I love all 4 of my Brats.
-
Like said before, Gas mileage, maneuverability, size, and they look better when lifted in my opinion. How many lifted fords have you seen driving around? And how many soobs? Every one of my co-workers had never seen a brat until I started working there, and they notice EVERY one that drives by now!
-
Yeah, Soobme is awesome, I had him take a look at this rear bumper/rack thing and he said it would be no problem. His prices were cool too.

Tires and wheels and tires and wheels?
Jibs replied to TheMeatWagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I also have to agree on those US Wheels, I myself went with the 75 series for the looks as well as the price. 35$ a piece. Does anybody know the width of the 14 and 15" Pugs?
