Another Question - will the craftsman trick work on all 4 rims? Or will I need to btake the socket back after each time? Thanks.
-
Ok Thanks. I didn't search the car cause I was pressed for time, and I can go back later cause I know the rims aren't going anywhere. I don't think I can take welders or power tools in there so that's out. I was thinkin of takin the whole axle setup, but I know they'll charge me way more than its worth so I'll try the craftsman idea and see how it works. Thanks again.

I went to the local junkyard today and discovered something awesome! A set of these! Only problem is that on each tire, there is a locking lug nut. What can I do to get them off? I heard from a friend that you can use a socket that is **just** bigger than the lock and just twist it off, thus destroying the socket. Would this work? Any other ideas? I REALLY want these rims but can't come up with anything. Thanks.

Wasteland Subaru - Thanks a bunch for the help. That helps me a lot. I'll see how it works out. Singletrack - Thanks a MILLION for that link to the microsoft site, I've been looking for that for EVER! Thanks guys, you've been a big help.

I do have a rollbar, but I also have the seats in the back. I was just thinkin of having one put in so I could go out wheelin for a few days on end this summer without having to come back to refuel. I DO live in Nevada, close to the deserts, so I just don't want to run out of gas out in the middle of nowhere. I want my Brat to be a multi-person car - I want to fit 4 not just 2.

Summit has quite a few from about 119 up to about 320. Heres a link: http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=esearch.asp&N=110&Ntk=KeywordSearch&Ntt=fuel+cell As for weight issues, I was going to install one in my Brat, so wouldn't I WANT more weight in the rear? I DO agree with it being out of the way, so maybe I could conceal it with something or something.

Hey - The Home depot Parking lot on I-80 and McCarran is in Icefield!! Thought I'd post it. Looked like a ton of fun to slide around in! Seems like its all melting away today though. Might have to wait for the next storm. -
I might want to install a fuel cell in my brat, but have a couple of questions first. Does a fuel cell mounted in a brat HAVE to be mounted near the front of the bed? Can it be placed nearer to the tailgate and have the same affect? Does a fuel cell act IN ACCORDING WITH or INSTEAD OF my original gas tank? Thanks a bunch guys.

Sounds good. I believe you need a MINIMUM of 6" to get a transfer case underneath a brat, and 8" is even better. Other than that you're gonna have a sweet lookin brat. Congratulations.

Thats why I got out of there when I did Jeremy! I knew it was supposed to dump and it looks like I got out just in time! There's still some snow up here, I made fresh donut tracks today up at Los Altos on my lunch break today! Freaked out my co-worker too, he had never been out driving like that. Anyway, I don't know WHAT my schedule is gonna be so just let me know a few days in advance and I'll be there. BTW Jeremy: How was skiing? Lotsa snow!! -

Brian - do you guys wanna come all the way up here to drive around? I was thinkin of somewhere around the Boca/Strampede area? A little closer for you guys, and there's usually some good snow back in there. If you guys wanna come all the way up though, thats cool, jeremy and I could show you guys some cool mud areas out here. -

I'm way In!! Sounds good. Now if I can only fake an injury or somethin to get out of work, we'll be in business. Jeremy - you may borrow one of my brats, but what ever is wrong with yours? -
For my 4" lifted Brat, After making 2 trips to the local napa autoparts place for getting the wrong parts, we finally came up with an idea. We took the REAR brake lines from my 81 parts car brat and matched it to fit perfectly for the fronts. they end up being a little long even at 4", but they work.

They're people out there who know their subaru stuff, but fon't seem to be here. I was the Reno PnP on thursday afternoon at about 2 and a "new" subaru had just came in. This subaru had a set of the early 80's spoke mags or shadow mags, and I wanted them badly. I couldn't get to them cause they were still on the sidewalk wedgen in between 2 other cars. The guy with the CAT took his time tryin to get these cars into the lines and so I took off, planning to come back the following morning. Well, when I got back at about 10 the next morning, they were gone, just plain gone, the whole set. 5 hours in 2 days and someone had taken the whole set. I was soooooo mad. But someone had known about these rims and had got them.

As long as you had fun, that's what it's all about!! Don't worry about your stock subie, I've had plenty of fun stompin around some gnarly stuff in my stock brats. I like to try to see what a stock brat'll do in some cases, its a learning process.

I've seen people mount them on the passenger side console area, near the shifter and stuff, I think it'll end up getting in the way if you have passengers and stuff, but you could mount it really anywhere, I'd suggest back by the wheel wells.
-
Check the CV's too as they are pricey to have replaced. I'd try to talk the guy into a little lower if you could, but otherwise it isn't too bad of a price.

I'd probably be interested as well

About a mile out behind our houses in Cold Springs. Takes about 10 minutes to get there. Sorry for not invitin you, I didn't think you'd want to destroy your wagon. But if you REALLY want to, we can go out there some time.
