Carb -> SPFI Update for Subieman & Jibs...and everyone else too!
Jibs replied to NVBigBlue's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Hahaha!! Yeah I had noticed when we got out into the parking lot, that they hadn't looked in Big Blue's tool bag at all. He had set the ecu in there to take some stuff out of my wheelbarrow, I guess he forgot to take it back out:) I wasn't about to say anything to Pick N Pull though either. Thats awesome, BigBlue, I'm glad to hear its goin well for ya. Maybe down the road when I want to switch over I can let you know! Thanks for the update, I was asking Subieman about your conversion today as a matter of fact. keep up the work, and remember to take lots of pictures and stuff! -
The welds. I know a couple of board members who have broken the welds on the diff, and had to make the rest of the trip in an open diff. Other than that I think they're pretty good.

So where in the heck do you get this e10torx socket? I bought one from Napa, but it doesn't fit inside the stub axle. It seems like the only way it would work is if the socket is on 1/4" drive, and nobody in town sells them. I went by Sears, Harbor Freight, Kragen, The dealership, and Napa today, and nobody had them. Where would I get this mystery socket? Thanks.

haha, yeah the powerslide is a good part. I downloaded this song the other night and though it would just be funny to add to some subie stuff. I kinda slapped it together and like it enough to post!

Thats funny, I had asked mudrat this the other day as well. Getting 4.11 gears into the rear diff isn't hard, but the tranny is a different thing all together. You could use an All wheel drive tranny, but you wouldn't get the D/R properties. As said above, you could have someone machine shop them, but the bill would be outrageous.

West Coast Subaru Show 7 Thread (real deal)
Jibs replied to ezapar's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
There should be room for everyone, no reservations required, but I'm sure if you get a hold of Zapar, he could set ya up with a campspot. Last years show had a HUGE area to camp in. -
Wheels!! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/wheels2/wheels.html

Well, if you're going with a lift kit it shouldn't be too hard to get something around 8-10 inches wide to fit. After that, and I think you might have to get some wheel spacers. You'll have to trim some, it's just a matter of how much trimming you want to do. The profile of the tire could also be a problem, I have some MAJOR trimming issues with my 28x8.5 tsl's because they have some BIG knobs on them, and they rub a bit. I wouldn't have to trim with the same size tire, but a smaller tread pattern. Hope this helps.

Keep us updated!!

Let me know when you're gonna do it I want to come over and see/help. I also have one of my own to do. Hey and I was thinkin, if you want to use my rear diff for the example, and then give me the you pull out of the wagon when youre fone, that would be all right.

Welcome to the board!! Must be nice to own a NEW soob!! -
I was looking through the site and noticed that we have a very good wheels page, but not a very good brushguard page. I know that there are more brushguards out there, so lets see them and maybe we could get them all together somewhere. Here's my example: If you have one that looks better, lets see it! And others as well! Here's one I found on the Subarujunkie's site:

Oh Crap DUH!! yeah i forgot that the drum was drilled. Me =

I am thinking of doing the rear disc brake conversion and have a few questions: 1) Are disc brakes better on off-road vehicles? Will dirt clog it up? 2) can I use the hubs off of an ea81 in conjunction with the conversion? I ask #2 because I have the 6 lug conversion and I don't want to pay again to have the rear hubs drilled again. 3) Kinda like above, will rear discs work with the 6 lug conversion? Thanks.

Where do I get an 87 GL waggon lift kit
Jibs replied to BGB420's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
PK's kits are GREAT!! Yeah, he'll ship to alaska, snowman has bought a liftkit from him and he's up there. I'd definitely contact one of those two guys they both do EXCELENT work. -
Well then. It seems like we might set somethin up for a weekend. Can you get a day off Brian? I'm thinkin the Sunday of March 6th. Thats 3 weeks from this coming sunday. Does this sound all right for everyone?
-
This is good stuff. I like how you got it to flow. looks great and sounds even better. Good work!
-
No not this wednesday, but maybe 2 or 3 weeks down the road.

We didn't actually get together for our Tahoe Run so I thought it'd be cool if we could all get together and do SOMETHING. I know TheSubarujunkie has wanted to get up this way for a junkyard run, so maybe that could happen. We had also wanted to film a little for our project video, and I know Subieman wouldn't mind getting some action as well. We also have a few new guys around that would like to join us as well. (NVBigBlue) so lets get something together. I know the Junkie has wednesdays off, and Subieman has those afternoons off, I'm off whenever, so lets try to get somethin goin.

Here's a teaser that I've come up with: Its not even close to being done, and I am learning how to edit and stuff as I go along, so it's not the snappiest video, but its all right. Brian can probably do better, maybe I'll let him edit for a while. Anyway, click on the first video in my gallery, its the one. Its set to Pink Floyd's The Wall. Enjoy and lets hear your input. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=641

Yeah me and Brian and Subieman will be filming all of our offroad stuff, and Brian is digitizing all of his stuff to add, we'll hopefully get a sweet video out there for all you. Sweet82 - I'm using Windows Moviemaker and I believe Brian is as well. It comes standard with Windows XP.
