I know that you have to take BOTH your 3.7 AND your 3.9 diffs into a shop to convert, or can convert yourself, but what I want to know is if you can't just buy a 3.9 gear set to install in a diff? Does anyone make a gear set like this? That would eliminate the need to find a LSD which are getting rare. Just wondering. Thanks. And feel free to knock me down if this is WAY off!

Thats awesome! Looked like fun!

Thanks guys I got it. I ended up just removing the whole A-arm on the passenger side, and slipping the axle out of that then pounding the other axle out. I got one of the axles off, but the other is stuck in for a while. The biggest surprise I got though was that Pick and Pull doesn't charge seperately for the diff AND the axles, they're sold together like a truck solid axle. So I didn'e need to cut and whack and brak the axles, I coulda kept them.

So there's an LSD at the local junkyard (Thanks NVBigBlue) and I went to go nab it oof the car today. Well everything went alright except I can't get the rear axles to slide out of the A-arm. The axles are frozen with dirt/rust to the differential and WERE frozen to the A-arm except I whacked the crap out of it with a big piece of exhaust. I got the axles loose from the a-arm, but I don't have enough room to have them slide through. I need like about 4 inches more. What can I do? I've already unbolted the diff from the frame, so should I try to jack it back up to its normal position, or leave it down low on the ground? Thanks for the help.

I'd gladly pay for a set of fenders as well. -
Yeah most of them do. With your Legacy, you're probably gonna want to call mudrat79 for lift options, and he can send you decent instructions. He's ALWAYS willing to help out as well, so if you have any problems give him a call and he'll be more than willing to lenda ya a hand over the phone. Search for him on this site and you should be fine.

installing 80 4spd dr from coupe into 90 3spd AT Wagon
Jibs replied to dptyrob's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Its lookin like it's an EA71 if its a 1600. There should be an engine code on there somewhere if you've got it pulled already. -
What years were Brats offered as turbos? I know 1984, is that the only year? How about Automatic trannies? What years for those? Thanks.

Well......depending on how much of a mechanic you are... and EJ22 would be nice, but take a LOT of time and knowledge to pull off. If you want someone else to do it, better make sure you have LOTS of money to spare, as that swap is relatively hard. Otherwise the same ol EA81 is probably your best bet. An Ea82 swap probably won't be out of the question, but there are some who don't think they make good off road engines for mud cause they have timing belts. I'd just find another low mileage EA81, and throw it in there. -
Any plans or news when a new vid is gonna be released? Just thought I'd ask. The first 5 are simply amazing.

NV Zeno has about 300,000 on his wagon. I have a DL wagon with 230,000 on it and my 81 brat died with 226,000 miles on it. Thats as much as I've ever seen.

Here's a link I found for a snow plow for subaru's. Seems like they make one for Bajas, Legacy's and others. Don't know about earlier models though. http://www.solotec.com/pi.html
