Wow. I thought that I was the only one who's clock did that. The clock in my 85 Brat resets itself to 1:00 everytime I leave it shut off for more than 10 or 15 minutes at a time. It recently started resetting itself to 11:00. It's kinda cool cause I can see how long it takes to get places, from my house into town, it takes me roughly 25-28 minutes. My horn doesn't work as well, neither does my flashers. I REALLY should look at my fuses I guess, but it just dawned on me that they all don't work. Thanks for the help!

From what donor subaru cars can I swipe a lsd from at the local junkyard? Thanks.

What would be the best exhaust setup?

I got my Swampers from them as well, and they were reasonably priced. I had them mounted and balanced as well, and that was also really inexpensive. I had 5 tires mounted and balanced for 67$

Engine Swap - Lift Install Meet
Jibs replied to Jibs's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Still a go everyone! A week from this coming Thursday. Any other takers? -
I know this has been asked a million times, but this is as much for everyone else as for myself: What can I do to the original engine, body, etc... of a brat to add low end torque to the thing? I know of a Weber Carb, but what else? I want to use my Brat mainly for some heavy duty 4 wheelin. Thanks a lot.

I had the same thing with my 81 Brat. Granted, this was back before I had been to this board and had even seen a Gen 2 Brat, but when I bought my 81 Brat, I was told it was an 82. So, I went and bought a lift kit and had everything started, but then found out that that wouldn't work. What do you know?

has anyone ever had brat seats re-upholstered? what was the cost if so? Thanks. -
What should I use if I want to make a 4x4 Brat? I want the most torque and HP I can, so what's best? Thanks

I got GREAT gas mileage on the way home, I filled up in hood river and made it up through Portland, and down 205 and 5 all the way to Medford on a tank, then filled up and drove another 325 miles on another tank. I love Oregon gas!

I'm calling out all Northern Nevadans and Californians who want to help me pull an engine in my 82 Brat on the 23 and 24th of September. I'll be renting a cherry picker to make things easier and will buy everyone meals for the duration of the meet. If everything goes well, I'll also want to install my byb 4" lift kit as well, though we'll see if we have time. If we don't get done in time, we can meet the 1st of October. See ya then.

Took long enough! I think the show brought you round. Glad to have you here!

Yeah, I had talked to you about that. Maybe next year, you could bring those spare parts and we'll see ya do it! I'm also sure we all wouldn't mind chipping in and offering up parts of our own to see the beast in action:grin: Anyway, I completely understand why you didn't go for it as I was totally unsure I was going to make it out unscathed in my white Brat. I took a big gamble running the pit, I had a bad oil leak, a torn cv boot, and a broken pcv valve. Anyway, I made it back ok!

Does anyone know how many companies were authorized to make Brat campers? I was over at the local Subaru repair shop yesterday and stopped by the camper place next door to see if he could repair a camper I got with my 82 Brat. He asked me what it looked like and I told him. He wondered for a minute and said that he might have made that camper style. I said "What?" and he replied that he and his father had a mold of a Brat Camper, and had started making shells for them back in 1978. He didn't make too many, and after he had made a few Gemtop had bought him out and that's how he is in the camper business now. He was really shocked that someone still had a camper from back then and wanted to get it fixed. I just thought it would be really cool to know that I have one of his campers from way back. Anyway, I'll let you guys know what happens.

That was really cool looking Jerry. Next year I want you to hit up the mud pit in it though. I know a lot of us wanted to see you tear the pit up! When I first saw it, I was awed and confused at the same time. Good Job on that!

I don't think any can top that, but some of us Nevadans can come pretty close. My drive mileage was about 1205 miles, subieman and another in our group had a little over 1300 I think. Scott actually had to drive to Incline and then over to Nevada City, so he might be within a couple hundred miles of your record. It was definitely a long trip back, and our soobs aren't too quiet. It was fun though!

Did you forget something at the show???
Jibs replied to Dr. RX's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I fit in to that category, I had some wheels for a certain someone, and I just missed them. Oh well, I had room to spare. -
Uh-uh, no way am I taking anything back to Pep boys. I'll try it and see. Thanks so much for the help!! I appreciate it.

The splines on the axle are all right, the castle nut wants to tighten normally when we tried to get it on there. I'll see what I can do. It's been too long for Pep boys to fix it. It lasted JUST long enough for the warranty to expire. I went by there and they said that and that they didn't think they messed it up, but I have had 2 seperate opinions saying that Pep boys is the most responsible for the damage. Thanks for the quick reply!

Help wiring a Tach in a 78 Brat
Jibs replied to subieman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm glad it works... kinda. Better get it going soon! It'd be funny to explain THAT one to a police officer! "But officer, My whole schpiel doesn't work... I can't say how fast I was going, which way I was turning, whether I was braking, or what my Rpms were." and with that 78, he'll probably believe you.
