My '78 is running! Now for some "Aftermarket" Questions...(exhaust, fan, tach, etc.)
http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41630 The historic forum just isnt getting enough views, so I'm cross posting here since most of these questions work for the other models as well...

This new Historic forum sucks, all the people from the other forums doesnt seem to get here... ANYWAY, I was just looking at a 02+ wagon, and I was wondering if that spoiler would work... it has small contact patches on the side, and i measured the width and its about the same. The connection area though seems like its too big but I'm not sure. Anyone try it?

Sounds good. Whats wrong with the stock fan? Blows alot of air, and is quite large...

Do you have any pics of the setup? I do have one fan from an EA motor sitting around, but it just doesnt fit next to the giant stock fan.

YES, got the motor back into my '78 4x4 EA71 Wagon after a year of it just sitting there... And its running good now Fixed all its little problems and leaks, but it idles much better now (it had a striped spark plug hole before that caused it to idle way high and hense not pass smog). Anyway, I have a few ideas about what I want to do after I finish with the body work... (still alot to do on that front) I definatly need an aftermarket Tachometer. I have a left over 50mm mount I was going to use for a turbo gauge a long long time ago, and was wondering if anyone knew of a good, cheap tach that would work. Also, some tips with the install... Since I actually took out my A/C along with the belt-powered fan on the EA71, I was wondering which type of electrical fan I could put in its place... Theres not alot of room, maybe 2" deep, and I wouldnt mind paying for a new one but a junkyard tip might help too. I could also use an idea or two about how to wire it up maybe with a switch or something so I can manually turn it on/off. I also had a GREAT idea for my exhaust! I'm going to have to have the entire exhaust re-done because of rust, so I figure ill use 2" piping for most of it, but for the exhaust tips I was thinking... Since I took of my rear bumper, should I use the rear bumper holes and split the rear pipes into two sections and run them through the holes? That would be really nifty I think and clean up the look of the back of the car along with give a little more ground clearance Has anyone done this? Also, I had a wierd looking spoiler that came with the car... Looked like aluminum window mounting, really horrible. So I was wondering if anyone has used some sort of fiberglass or OEM spoiler kinda like the Foresters and Outback wagons have on the top of their lift gates. I think that would be a nice, simple addition. Has anyone done this either? Anyway, thanks in advance for any help I can get...

So... Does anyone actually have an FF-1 star or a G?
You should have waited around to meet the owner and given them an offer

Ya, I saw the wierd thing about the brakes and was wondering what could be done about that (drivetrain swap?) But since its impossible to even find one... Interesting stuff.

So... Does anyone actually have an FF-1 star or a G?
I cant find anything anywhere other than chiltons manuals and stuff for it...

So... Does anyone actually have an FF-1 star or a G?
I read the Historical Subaru forum post and saw some info about the 1970/71 FF-1's, the little FWD coupes with early EA motors... But, aside from a couple of odd websites here or there with info about them, I cant seem to tell if anyone actually owns one. So, does anybody have one or has anyone actually seen one? http://www.supercars.net/garages/MooSquad/135v2.html

15" wheels on a 78, and other quick questions.
Thats even better to know. So 60 height would be proper for the 15's, or is lower?

15" wheels on a 78, and other quick questions.
Actually, I just double checked, it appears to me that brats have a TON more room in the rear fenders than the wagons do.

15" wheels on a 78, and other quick questions.
Good to know. Think 205's would fit?

Which wheels did you have?

15" wheels on a 78, and other quick questions.
Hey guys, im back to work on my '78 wagon. Im picking up some 15" pugs (which ive always wanted to try on this car) and was curious if anyone else has done it. With my experience in fitting plus size wheels and tires on scoobs (Ive run 225's on both of my Imprezas) I can see right away that the rear fender will need major modification. Probably need to remove that entire "inner" lip that seems to be totally in the way. Thats not a huge deal, since im doing major body repair with this car anyhow. I was curious as to what size tire to look for. I dont know if 205's will work with the offset of these wheels, and which height to go with the 15" wheels... 195/45's maybe? Not sure. And are there really any simple suspension handling options for the car? Perhaps even a way of lowering the car if theres nothing pre-fabricated up there. I know all about the lift kits and such, but I dont think ill be off-roading this one... Oh and no new pics yet, at least not til I finish the motor rebuild and get it back in Hopefully I can have that all done here soon so I can get going with the rest of the bodywork and eventually get her in for a paint job (cheap-o Marco paint job of course, i'd do more but paint is just major $$$ ).

Will an H6 fit in a 92 Legacy?
Kostamojen replied to Gnuman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOne of the Legacy Outback H6's was put into an Impreza, so I dont see why it wont fit in a first gen Legacy (same size engine bay for the most part)

What do you think of this color? (for the 78)
Whenever I finish with the paint job (which wont be anytime soon) im gonna sticker it up with a rally-type sticker job to cover up some of the lousy paint

I updated and added 2 pics, one of the painted fender, and another of the fenders on the car. Next up, painting the hood and trying to get the engine back together http://community.webshots.com/album/166896604vSrMWC/1

Where to find the plastic engine wiring straps?
I found some zip ties with screw holes, and some plastic thingies that probably wont work to hold them down, but it will have to do... Junkyard ones wouldnt work, because as soon as you remove these things they break.

Where to find the plastic engine wiring straps?
You know, those little black plastic things that hold down the engine bay wiring in certain spots by poping into holes in the chasis... Little black strap things. I cant find them anywhere, anyone know where to find them?
