Junkyard is the way to go. I recently picked up a driver's side headlight for my bucket, and it was only about $30, if that.

Valve cover gaskets longevity

Mine have at least 30,000 miles that I know of on them, and best guess is at least another 30,000 before I got the car. 181,000 on the clock, and they don't drip a drop. -
A wierd one. what do you think of this????
samo replied to mickytrus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It's the parking light switch. Subaru was ingenius and linked the headlights to the ignition so it's near impossible to leave your headlights on when you park. But, since parking lights are still needed, there's that switch, which keeps the parking lights on even with the key out. Personally, had I designed the car, I would have done like a lot of European manufacturers do - have the parking lights on the main switch not linked to the ignition, only the headlights. That way, when you turn off the car, if you leave the headlights on, only the parking lights stay on. -

There's a switch on the top of the steering column. Flick it, and see if that fixes your problem . -

Unfortunately, taillights are not on my short list of things to buy lately. Brakes and a radiator are more important. However, when it comes time to look for some tails, you'll be the first I contact. As for Slovenia, I know exactly where it is . -

This isn't going to help much... but I WANT YOUR TAILLIGHTS! -
Light bar/push bar photos: Can I see some?

^Very nice. Mine are just attached on brackets to the bumper. Real simple, not real pretty, but dirt cheap. -
I believe we decided that the split is at the base of the B pillar. Seems odd to me, but hey, Subaru is weird. Another place to look for the split is in the kickpanels.

...you can almost see it. It's a Weapon-R Dragon filter attached to a Nissan Sentra (GA16DE) MAF adaptor. Total cost: $0.00 since I salvaged it off my old car.

The Legacy radio will not be wired for common ground. If you choose to use back speakers, you'll have to run new speaker wire to them from the HU to the F/R split point. EA82s are common ground front to rear, meaning the left side speakers share the same ground wire going into the HU. Likewise with the right. EA81s and earlier are completely common ground, which means 3 of the 4 speakers have to be rewired. The new standard, floating ground, utilizes an individual ground wire for each speaker.

KYB AGXs are excellent shocks/struts. The Nissan crew has been using them for years, with nothing but great results. They have adjustable damping, which is always nice.

Awesome, dude! I'm glad it runs! I'll have to come over and check it out sometime.

If they're high-level connections at the speaker like Bushbasher said, then you don't need a high-low. RCA connections usually means low level, so I just assumed. If you're not using a headunit, what's producing the sound? I'm seriously confused about your setup.

Ticking Moter? heres the trick..
samo replied to $ubaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The first time my Subaru started ticking, it scared the hell out of me. Oddly enough, it's never ticked since... I think it was mad that I didn't put premium in it the night before . Sounds like a Diesel truck. -
'Cause it screws up your soundstage, that's why . Anyway, Flow's got your answer, right at the bottom of the B-pillar. You'll have to run a twinlead from the deck to that connector if you're running an aftermarket HU. Wait... now that I look at it... are you running high-level speaker outs into an RCA connection? Hope you've got a high-low converter on there.

Rear speakers put up a bit of a fight in the EA82. You see, the EA82 is common ground front to rear, so the - wire goes to both speakers on each side. Pretty ghetto. The only solution, really, is to find where the ground wire splits in two to go to each speaker, and run new wires from the HU to the split. If I remember right, the connector is somewhere along the door sill on each side... maybe in the kick panel? It's been a while since I've done rears in an EA82. My solution is to just not run any rear speakers. Or, if ya gotta, run new wires from the deck back.

Hey... that's pretty cool! Good work, dude!

I am also very interested to know if XT6 springs will work. I already plan on doing the Honda spring mod. XSNRG - Have you thought about using a set of Honda lowering springs for the rear? You'd wind up at about stock height after it's all said and done and in general, a lowering spring is quite a bit stiffer than a stock one.

EA-71: EA-81s: EA-82s:

Yeah, I kinda figured living with it was going to be the best bet. It's been rattling down there since a few months after I bought the car, so I guess it must not be anything too serious. Just one of the EA82's "special features," I guess .

Weird, my Loyale does the same thing. I always thought it was just a loose heat shield or something. At about 2000 or so, the car makes a rattley "cank cank cank cank cank" sound - kinda like the drum line on "St. Anger," only less annoying.
