  1. hmm...let me work on getting a pic...as im doing this all from memory
  2. Hey all...im missing a sensor on my new engine, and i need to know what it is Its a 2.5L SOHC model from a 2000 forester. Its all complete exept for this one sensor...here is a description It is a silver metal roundy block that sits kinda in front of the intake manifold, it has two medium sized vacuum tubes going to it and one electrical wire plugs into it....any ideas??? MAP sensor?? not sure Cory
  3. yeah i have the wiring diagram as well and i have scoured it several times.... On the ECU its Connector B135 Pin #3 marked as SSM/GST Connector Thanks Cory
  4. You can swap in the stuff from a cable assembly to any EJ tranny...i took the clutch fork and stuff from an old 91 and put it on a 2002 RS tranny and the cable works great. Though if you get a transmission from a turbo EJ series they are diffrent and will need hydraulic. Yeah im not sure how the old stuff mounts up so you would need custom mounts and such...the transmission might be physically larger too Also check the Retrofitting forum for the EJ swap you may have to do Axels and the whole shebang if you need any tips PM me
  5. Hey all swapping my engine and i am wondering what this is for. I have a wire on the ECU that is for SSM/GST communication Line Its a signal wire and what the heck is SSM/GST its from a 2000 model forester BTW Cory
  6. Just a shot, maybe Dr. RX Anyone using V5 STI springs on their GC Body impreza?? im looking to see if they effect ride height at all...up or down... how they feel etc...thanks all Cory
  7. Can you order the boots to the pin without buying a rebuild kit??just need those boots...
  8. Hello all, Havent posted in awhile...too busy with my engine these days =) anyhow i need to know if you can somehow replace the adjuster on your brake calipers?? My drivers side pad adjuster (the thing that is supposed to slide in and out and adjust with the wear of your pads) is all but frozen on drivers side and causing uneven wear....so can you replace this part or is it a new caliper?? Cory
  9. hey might be interested...you the guy that rally-x'd the white RX?? Im the guy that usually drives the red 4 door impreza...cept im swapping the engine right now..thats why i didnt make it to PIR....let me know if you need help i have a friend who might be interested as well
  10. yeah it just worked....the pictures of the blue one i saw looked really ugly...so if any of your are getting on 06 get a black:brow:
  11. No CEL? if you get a CEL get the code checked otherwise you may have something sticking like throttle blave, IAC, coolant temp...etc Cory
  12. Hey all, I was driving to work in my loaner toyota:brow: when i pulled up to a nice black STI...i was looking then i noticed it had the second spoiler...cool i thought must be a 2006 so i accelerated fast so i could get a look at the front expecting to be horrified by the tribeca-esc front....i was suprised...it looks good...I cant believe it the pictures look horrid but it looks good...thought i would share Cory
  13. the problem with springs from other vehicles is they dont match the struts...so my only options are rs springs or something aftermarket...the problem is almost everything after market has a much stiffer spring weight....and for driving around in mud and gravel im not sure i want a stiffer suspension
  14. forester suspension creates a lift....and right the KYB's dont like too much drop...more than an inch....
  15. Hello all, I have a question about springs....i am building up a Production GT impreza L for rally X and eventually club rally. I purchased KYB AGX's for the struts for the adjustable dampening. Now i need springs.. Here is my question...what springs should i get...i have thought of aftermarket, but they are so darn stiff, and on gravel and mud, stiff springs arent always that great. Also my current springs are saggy and tired. So my idea is to purchase some RS springs with low miles on them to keep it a bit softer....what do you think?? Cory
  16. my advice...buy up every old car you can and sell them off when the governement requires all new cars to have monitoring systems..... everyone will want an old one that isnt required.....and then 5 years later they will all be required....-0) As for the whole we track absolutely every move you make by satellite and wireless....NEVER happen...If you understand the amount of data for 260million drivers that would create it is an Information Nightmare as far as throughput goes...thats why it will stay the "black box" type for quite some time as it can record all data and there are no out of service areas......ie out of wireless area or anywhere inside where satellite cannot track....ever used a GPS inside?? doesnt work.... Now that said there is a type of Sat tracking that tanks use that is exact by inches even under speedy movement....but its tens of thousands of dollars.... the whole idea is a shaky technology...but as far as it has come it does make me what to go live in the woods in idaho... Cory
  17. Yeah the catch 22....the plug wouldnt have fallen out.... So any ideas on the plausiblity of the damage being only rod bearing related Cory
  18. Well the screeching noise was only present for about 2 minutes when we first started the engine...now it just has a nasty rod knock...it idles fine but the midrange is gone...... Any other confirmations
  19. it all swaps in fine....just need to match gear ratios....ask around some of the guys have the sweet hookups on finding gear ratios. Electrical connectors should be the same too....though there is always discussion about TCU's...but my 2cents is it will work....or just screw all the AT stuff and get a 5 speed =0) Cory
  20. another update http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=332229#post332229
  21. Hello all, Had a little meet with oddcomp today and we looked over my engine. We agreed that perhaps only the rod bearings are hosed and that the power loss in the engine is the knock sensor retarding the timing...... So im asking you gurus who tear into engines...is this theory plausible?? and if i unbolt the Oilpan, will i be able to get to the bearings and rods?? THanks for the help Cory For more info check out the initail post http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41825
  22. ***Update*** Hear what it sounded like via a recording from my friends phone, let me know if you recognize the sound Squeal of death Knock of death ***Update Ends***
  23. squeaks usually come from the belts or pulley system...check those out Cory Though more recently my squeak was my pistons metal on metal.....but thats only if you have no oil in your engine =0)
  24. you get the allied EJ lift kit?? looks pretty cool...although it just looks odd seeing an impreza so high:lol:
