  1. I recently drained and filled the tranny and diff fluid in an xt6, valvoline synthetic at about 65 bucks all up
  2. I cant speak for diff lock, but Foreign Engine in Lynnwood will occasionally get an ej d/r awd 5 speed out of Japan although they got mostly auto's. I called a few months ago and they had one for 800.00. The fellas in Au have these trans and chase the rx low range gear set for them, apparently its not much of a low range from the factory.
  3. Thats a good looking wagon. I did cringe though when I saw the pics of you driving thru the surf:eek: By the looks of it id say you were in Grayland, not far from where I live and im about 1000' off that beach. Rust is a constant battle, I hope you hosed her it off real good
  4. I recommend these guys if your buying weber kits/carbs/parts etc. Ive never had a parts quality issue. http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/default.asp
  5. The xt6 spec is -0.815 from clutch surface to pressure plate surface. I also just purchased an exedy kit for my xt6 here ( offered 10 bucks less and they accepted ) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Exedy-OEM-Clutch-Kit-Subaru-XT-88-88-H6-2-7L-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem483ad64699QQitemZ310224766617QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories I should add that I dont know if there are any differences between the xt6 and ea82 d/r clutch release arms that could cause any issues.
  6. Ive found rockauto.com and also this ebay seller a good source of clutch dimension and spline count info. http://stores.ebay.com/gripforce-clutches_Subaru_W0QQ_fsubZ18QQ_sidZ98015562QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322
  7. I ran into a similar situation but the shop could not align the rear of my xt6 due to excessive bushing wear causing toe issues. I fixed the problem and took it back in and its all good now. Some shops arent familure with the caster/camber adjustment procedure on the older subi's. Sounds like you have toe issues too otherwise they probably wouldnt recommend slotting the adj holes. If they didnt tell you your bushing were shot when they approached you on slotting parts I would definately find another shop to deal with. I see your in Eugene, if your ever in Portland id see this outfit, did a great job on my alignment and very reasonably priced. http://www.tracksideracetires.com/
  8. Everything is there and functioning, its a lack of room in the trans tunnel for the vac can so Im looking for ideas.
  9. Thats a good idea. I was in the industrial parts business years ago and your suggestion of a cable brought to mind that some industrial part houses fab custom cables for otr trucks and various machinery. Usually a t handle and it twists 90 degrees to lock. thanks
  10. Has anyone come up with a good alternative to the vac can linkage when installing a diff lock tranny in an older subi to get around trans tunnel clearance issues?
  11. Last weekend on my xt6 I replaced front main oil pump gasket water pump thermostat I was leaking a quart of royal purple a week:mad: This weekend on my xt6 I fixed an illumination/tail fuse issue I removed the control pods and found a couple small screws floating around the light switch pod I was going thru about 25 fuses a week:mad: And i finally got around to ordering gaskets and a new Leg turbo radiator for my wagon project:)
  12. Hey dude, can you supply a couple 4" lift blocks for an ea82 trans cross member? The rest of the wagon has been lifted with 4" 1/4 steel tube..what do you have? Thanks, Mark
  13. Today I did a 5 hour round trip drive to pick up a used alternator for my xt6, a recently aquired rebuilt failed saturday night. I think ill be packing spare parts now
  14. Hi Guys, im getting ready to to install an ej trans in my ea82 wagon using xt6 front and rear trans x-members and an ej center section. Ive lifted the wagon 4''s and my question is will i need 4" blocks for the rear cross member? If my assumption is correct id like to obtain them before swapping out the drive train. Thanks!
  15. more like "for" my Subaru..."to" comes later:grin: had Santa bring this for my wagon, please excuse the RX stunt model:rolleyes:
  16. The fsm's show lsd's were available but ive not seen one yet on the xt6's I have and have checked out. Youll find a sticker on the back of the rear differential and if its never been disturbed there is a tear off of sorts that will expose it, it will either list a ratio or say lsd.
  17. heres a link to a partial ea81 fsm with wiring diagrams http://www.ch601.org/engines.htm
  18. Ive bought 4 clutch kits from this outfit and have no complaints. http://stores.ebay.com/gripforce-clutches_Subaru_W0QQ_fsubZ18QQ_sidZ98015562QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322
