  1. Hi guys ( and gals ) I could use some advise on slim line cooling fans. Im interested it the best quality and highest cfm's I can get my hands on. Im also wondering about any pro's or con's on running the fan full time vs having the ecu triggering it. My application is an ej20g in an ea82 wagon. Thanks
  2. Ive never used a puller on the ea82's, just hit the wheel on opposing sides with the bottom of your fists 3 or 4 times and they come right off.
  3. sweet wagon !! youve really put a good looking rig together, nice balance with the added goodies, awesome color too! Mine will never look that good.
  4. Today I finished up my radiator install. Im going to be running a '93 ej20g and decided to go with the factory spec rad from a gen1 Legacy turbo. The core is 3"'s taller than the ea82 rad so I cut the corners at the lower core support, bolted 2 x 4 by 1/8 steel plates to the bottom of the support and modified ej top mounts to finish it off. I installed captive nuts ( rivit nuts ) on the upper core support, and had to trim the return off the top core support to install the radiator plum. Ill call this mod finished when I can get a mig and weld the bottom plates to the support and weld either flat or round stock strongbacks to the lower core support corners.

  6. Fresh air is made everyday in my part of Washington:grin:
  7. I would recommend asking to see a surfaced head before having them do yours. Ive noticed over the years a big difference in the finished surface, ive had everything from a mirror finish to a heavily grooved surface and as far as I know it depends on the quality of their equipment and workmanship. If they cant provide an "as new" surface I look for another machine shop.
  8. The car would have come with air suspension, looks like someone put legacy struts on, maybe imprezza's are a smaller diameter, id check into that....did you install the spoiler?
  9. Id check it out first. I dont think it would be too difficult to solder stuff up. But if you decide to part it out im interested in a few items. Nice find, hope the purchase price was good.
  10. Im not sure if underhood pics will be clear enough, theres alot going on with the hoses. Check this site out, you can download an ea82 fsm, it wont cover the entire car but it has everything engine, fuel and trouble shooting. If there is a specific area you need a pic of let me know. http://www.ch601.org/engines.htm
  11. I have an '86 gl 10 turbo. Ill post some pics today.
  12. Washington would be a good choice..plenty of near rust free subaru's. The cities youve mentioned are on opposite sides of the state. The eastern half typically has hot summers and cold winters while the western half has moderate seasons and everything is green. Traffic really sucks along I-5 as far north as Everett and as far south as Tacoma. Id look closley at where you would be working vs living, you can easily tie up a couple hours of commute time a day under the best of traffic conditions.
  13. I have access to some 240Z rear diffs, ie. 1975. From what ive read the datsun guys are looking for subi diffs for lsd's but the info seems to be sketchy. Anyone know how to id the rear diffs, and better yet are they desirable for our cars?
  14. http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/product_p/43914.060.htm might help with your shut off issues tech info and trouble shooting info as well http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/v/vspfiles/images/Weber%20Trouble%20Shooting%20Guide.pdf
  15. My bad as I just noticed this site doesnt list Subaru's Ive heard of people spending 4 to 5 hundred bucks on kits, and I didnt see pricing on the redline site. Id shop carefully, on webercarbsdirect you can buy new dgev and dgv carbs for 199.00, a new air filter assy is 21.00. The missing link is the adapter and linkage.
  16. Heres a link to what you need. ea81 parts manual that covers '82 - '89 and includes turbo engine. Theres also fsm's too but they do not cover the entire vehicle. http://www.ch601.org/engines.htm
  17. Wow! I just ran across your wagon project, kudos for taking on such a challenge...ill be checking in on your progress...best of luck Mark
  18. Thank you ..but im not Nomad
  19. Today ill start installing the drivetrain. Im installing a wrx 5 speed, rear diff and axles. Im using the ej center section combined with xt6 front and rear cross members. I ran across an add in craigslist yesterday. A guy had bought a new '07 wrx and within 2 weeks had a performance shop install a full cobbs system. He boxed up his stock stuff and had it in storage up until yesterday. It was free for the pickup and should work well on my wagon with a little modification.
  20. Today I installed some gl interior stuff I picked up last summer. While at it I put in mdx speakers in all 4 doors and new lock cylinders all around to match a tilt column thats going in after the harness mod. before after
  21. Nice weather finally, and being layed off its time to start up on my wagon again. Today I installed a wrx pedal box. I made a template for the clutch m/cly mount. Drilled the firewall and installed the m/cyl, good news is I dont have to reroute my speedo cable the wrx acc pedal and linkage is seperate from the pedal box, and when compared to the ea82 pedal box its longer and doesnt have the same travel So I sectioned the 4eat pedal box it origionally had to use the ea82 acc pedal and linkage And everything installed with the ea acc pedal overlaid on the wrx pedal box
