  1. hehe.....hopefully there will be an my ( ea81 here ) wagon in my near future. I really want to play with an ea81 engine. My big "I want" is a Brat but from what Ive seen here you better get on with fiberglas rockers and door shells:grin:
  2. Thats encouraging, I also picked up a 4 light set up from a dl for an ea82 wagon project im still working on. Ill most likely go with the H4 conversion on the xt6 regardless of winter performance. Im home on the weekends only and each sunday after dinner I commute from the washington coast line over the olympics to Seattle. Recalling my winter drives with my wagon and rx im thinking of a new mod for the wagon, part of it Im stealing from Turbone
  3. Im not running covers, just 7054's in my xt6. I did consider Rain x, also I used to race moto x and flat track and used wd40 on the bike to keep down the amount of mud/clay build up. Ill have to give it a try.
  4. yeah...on board lpg, pezios, some hose and nozzels and WAZAM!
  5. Id like to hear from you guys in the snow belt on possible cures for snow covered headlights. We dont get alot of snow in the PNW but I have real issues with night driving and snow both with the ea82 composits and last night with the xt6. Im considering Hella H4 conversions hoping the extra heat would help, or possibly some driving lights. Before I start throwing money at the car or driving it off the road I thought id ask what others have done. Thanks
  6. Get ahold of Garth, I was very happy with the alignment work he did on my xt6. http://www.tracksideracetires.com/
  7. I use hss drill bits daily on alum, steel and stainless ( if the stainless is 1/8th or less ) and countersinks as well. Something like rapid tap or stick wax is important for keeping the bits cool and sharp. I prefer to buy from an outfit like fastenal vs big box retailers.
  8. Interesting thread My jdm '95 wrx loom isnt compatible with my ej20g alternator. On a side note..and a little late too....Im also tired of partially rebuilt alternators thru retail outlets. The largest automotive electric house in Washington is Romaine Electric, there off hwy 167 in Kent. Ill be sending them an xt6 alt soon to be rebuilt "as new".
  9. I plan on going with a ratio box. Although gps sounds like it would work well Id rather have my speedo read correctly since its already there in my face;) I havnt checked into the costs yet as im aways from having the wagon on the road, but if it saves me from getting a speeding ticket I guess it would be worth it. Heres where I will probably end up going to, custom cable, speedo dyno and ratio box services http://www.tacomaspeedometer.com
  10. I just went thru the fsms for parts and service for both domestic and jdm ej's. This is the best breakdown I found. My guess is subaru doesnt supply service parts so they never drew a breakdown. http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b11/type_24/intake_and_supply_system_turbocharger/throttle_chamber/
  11. heres a link to free subaru engine fsms. http://www.ch601.org/engines.htm
  12. I replaced all the rotors last summer on my xt6. Carquest supplied mine, just be sure and specify their worldpac line. ( im assuming Carquest is nation wide ) Nice thing is there is usually pictures on their computer, they can tell me if its oem or who manufactured it, and usually I have more than 1 choice of manufacturers. What they have needed to order for me has usually been just 1 business day away and no freight costs, not bad considering I live literally on the west coast.
  13. Its a shame we didnt get the ej dual range trannys. Last summer I contacted Foreign Engine in lynnwood, washington and they had one. I was quoted just under $900 bucks. When I questioned the cost I was told they usually dont have much control over what transmissions they get out of Japan, and most of the trannys the japanese market received were autos.
  14. I imagine they are worth the money to compliment a lift if your a serious off roader, ive seen them on ea's and ej's. They have a downloadable catalog on their site if your interested in specs and such. http://www.kingsprings.com.au/motorsport.htm Ive also seen 1" tube spacers added to strut tops by some of the guys here.
  15. http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/susp.htm afaik they are made in Au and this outfit now offers them.
  16. Here are the spec's listed in the '89 fsm although there are no references to paint colors on the coils.
  17. there refered to by engine numbers for pre legacy models, ea81's, ea82's etc.
  18. Awesome job! Ive noticed the led patterns on some of the newer cars and your right, its over the top
  19. Looks good! My guess is a projector set up in your originals, looking forward to that write up...Ive already stripped the 4 light set up off a dl to go Hella's but im not sure ill like the looks.
  20. Its been almost 14 years now but I purchased a dot matrix pattern window film, at the time it was to reduce solar heat gain when we were packing our newborn around. I cut it to size and it clung to the inside of the windows pretty well. I cant remember where I picked it up though.
  21. Well, how do I follow up on some very good advice youve been given? Ive read this before but as I recall heres how it goes, " to become old and wise first we need to overcome being young and dumb" and im not saying you are, its not my "saying"...the point is if your hopelessly broke, 1 car and relying on others to keep you going possibly babying that vehicle would be the smartest plan. And yes I was young once:grin: and more than once I recall thinking " If only I had listened to".....
