  1. Use ONLY OE SUBARU head gaskets for the EA82...11044AA013 is the part number. DO NOT USE ANY SORT OF SEALANT ON THE HEAD GASKET OR HEAD/BLOCK SUFACES. Just make sure they are CLEAN and free of ANY old material.
  2. twe header and downpipe will give you about 40 more at the crank along with an intercooler at stock boost levels.
  3. The only ones that went to 7500 was my wagon and the first RX i had. Wagon went to 7500 just once. The RX 3 times. Otherwise, I always shifted at 6k with the cams. 5500 with stock cams. I dont abuse my cars.
  4. pulled to 7500 with out any signs of dropping off in power...thats just where I shifted at.
  5. oh and you might want to have the weight of the engine and such ON the crossmember instead of the crossmember stretching the engine mounts down....that way you can properly clearance the header from engine/crossmember.
  6. Mid range and low end eh? Keep the stock turbo and port/polish the exhaust side. TWE header design. It DOES NOT LAG ANY MORE THAN THE STOCKER. If anything its WAY better then the stocker down low. Midrange is 11ty billion times better. Top end too. Make a proper downpipe. :-p you've seen my numbers...100+hp/130+tq at the wheels on stock boost. 165/220 or so on 15 PSI with an STi TMIC...
  7. I would have more info on the cams...as I did run them in my wagon with the header. I did not tune it in...but it pulled to 7500.
  8. pretty much...everything OE is what you want for these cars. If not...expect failure on non-performance oriented parts....
  9. vf2 should be the same as VF7. all EA82T's got VF7s.
  10. any EA82 strut will work on an EA82 car....so, yes....they are plug and play.
  11. no...changed my mind again. turbop it is.
  12. NO. upping to fuel pressure to MAX on the stock injectors DOES NOT WORK. I upped my pressure to ~60 PSI. at 15 PSI of boost on stock turbo, stock everything...except for TWE header/Downpipe/STi TMIC/intake/EBC at 15 PSI....the injectors went to 100% duty at 2800 RPMs. 2,800!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It went lean at 2800....and got worse. Climbed to 16.5:1 at 5500... the stock injectors are no good for power higher than 130~140 at the wheels on a stock EA82T. 12 psi....is on the edge. We need 450cc+ for any real power beyond 160hp/200tq.
  13. Does anyone know if any given EJ front diff (just the center section, the spyder gear carrier peice...aka the pumpkin?) will work on any given EA82 5spd 4wd transmission w/out modification and will the ring/pinion bolt on?
  14. 100% correct. does not affect driveability of the car....but I like to have it working and hooked up properly.
  15. full standalones are 'plug'n'play' but they dont run at all....why? you need to tune the car. that takes away the 'n'play part....you can plug....then you pay more to play some more.
  16. studs are reusable from block to block as long as the threads on the studs/block are not ruined. there is some NA use...aka...NOS+12:1 compression... Basically, with a multilayer metal HG like the EJ's get...and the ARP's...i'd almost garuntee the HG's will never blow on an NA engine. for turbo...I'd think it would take a TON of abuse before the HG's blew again.
  17. Cuz we wanted it to. how? hotter than hell. its like 90*F and 100% humidity in the shop....with cars on the dyno too.
  18. So JWX came over to the shop today and took out my RX's engine so he can use it in his RX while I am rebuilding my RX and while we are rebuilding his engine that he recently blew up (or, most likely...pleiades started to blow up with 18 PSI and no IC, no EMS, no extra fuel...etc...)...and we go to put the long block in the back of his corolla...and...no dice. We had to strip t even further for it to fit and the trunk to close all the way. Corollas stuck. SUBARUs can haul the world around if we wanted to. oh, and most specifically, SUBARU wagons rule all!
  19. summit racing. make your wires....thats what i have to do.
