1988 Turbo Maf sensor adjust. screw...
WJM replied to whiplash-smile's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
damnit, what is the screw for? -
the bolt pattern is 4x140MM. Peugeot and SUBARU of the 80's era are going to be the only wheels options really....BUT...Superlite's are also made in 4x140MM. http://www.packracingproducts.com/page_wheels.html here's the thread for it: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24407&page=2&highlight=superlite

too heavy and too rare. RX all the way. -
Can it be done(N/A block mated to a Turbo)
WJM replied to Petersubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
OE is the ONLY way to go for the turbo engines tho. NAPA ones will work fine for NA, but they WILL NOT hold up longer than 17k miles in a turbo EA82. -
Can Coil and Wires already create need for Premium?
WJM replied to Phaedras's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
a SPFI or NA MPFI subie will run on w/e fuel you put in it. IF you run the higher octane, advance the timing some to pick up the extra pep. its not much, but its there. Just run 87 in it. My DL didnt have any issues with either one, and actually ran better on the 87. -

Traitor. MS+DIS. MS does have an add on to control timing totally. and since when is SS a mod? -

since you are going EJ, dump the EA box. the center diffs in those are better overall than ANY diff in an EA box. you are either open and transmitting 100% of the power to the side of least resistance or 50/50 lock with NO compromise. -

RX all the way. Stock suspension is GREAT for the really ruff stuff. Cheap to mod and make fast. Look at my RX: Under 3k right now and making more than WRX power and out handling them on pavement. -

WJM replied to Petersubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I ran a 9.5:1 bottom end under all the stock turbo stuff. Lasted 24K miles under hard driving, autocross and dyno work outs. -
Ive gone thru 4 transmissions on my turbo cars. I drove all of them HARD HARD HARD. I see no reason why they would not hold up to 300 hp.... and by gone thru by just swapping them in and out. 2WD XT turbo tranny lasted thru the worst abuse EVAR!!!!! FT4WD single range from an XT lasted thru the 3rd worst case of abuse...still VERY hard running. the two RX boxes I have were used for serious autoxing and serious launching. Still running smooth and quiet.

Well....its LOUDER than the wagon right now...and after driving a legact wagon that was deathly quiet...i want some quietness back in the car...that and since its going to end up being the daily driver for the rest of the year, and I technically cannot afford the air I breathe. So....3 way cat that I have is going on it, along with that pea shooter looking cat back i have....and the rear set stuff so it will be more quiet and more ppl friendly....as it does need to be.
-
got some vins to back that up DR....? I keep hearing GC8 is sedan only and GM8 is coupe only....?
-
Its a piggy back like the emanage.
-
So the RX has NO back seat, NO mufflering device on it at all...and all kinds of other compromises so that basically its a race car thats barely street legal... No more. Its just TOOOOOOO loud...that and I live in one of those apartment complexes...so, its time to quieten it down and return some of its original stuff to it. Back seat and cargo area stuff is going back in it saturday, the taller rear springs are going back on it for rear ground clearance. Im going to fix allthe crap on it that doest work too...maybe take time out to make the keyless stuff work too. Also...im going to slap that 2 inch catback w/glass pack I have laying around that came on the car when I got it. Yes, 2 inches...thats less than the 2.5 thats on it now. Its got more than enough flow for the stuff im doing anyhow...PLUS...the turbo housing is ONLY 1 5/8th inch anyhow...so...yeah. Going to swap one of the badly worn tires over on it today...and change the oil from 5k mile old mobil 10w-30 to Motul 5w30 8100 synthetic...and ofcourse an OE filter. What else...yeah, it will be much more civilized too. I think I'll also pick up all my autox stuff from my other house as well...tires, jacks, decals, chairs, etc....autox season is started and I've already going to be missing SEVERAL events. I'll hit the dyno again with this 'new' exhaust and see what kind of loses you all can expect from having the TWE stuff on there, but with the stock'ish 2 inch 'cat back'...no cats in this, but it will be welded on starting almost where the second cat is supposed to be... that is al...for now.
-
then unichip and emanage is for you. but not for me. neither of those are going to meet my needs tho.
-
Ya'll listen here...the 22B is the stiffest car subaru ever ****ted out of the factory.
