  5. to those of you who read my "fwd fuse amp" thread i found that it appears that the switch is burned out. i reconnected the wires and the awd works properly, so that only leaves the switch to be at fault. oh, andy? i rechecked all the wires, they ARE soldered to hell and back.

  8. i just replaced mine. 96 legacy. it was doing the same thing. eventually (i was lucky this happened in the garage) your engine won't turn on at all.

  11. \ correct....to an extent.. a body lift will not bring up the engine and diffs any farther from the ground than stock because it actually LOWERS those elements from the car in order to raise the body upwards. however, because of the body being higher up, you'll be able to use much bigger tires which in turn WILL lift the drivetrain/power elements. my suspension lift gave me approx. 2 inches, and my tires add about another 1.5
  12. if you mean overconfidence in that some guys think that innercity roads are a good place to pretend they're Vin Diesel? yes, i agree. if you mean overconfidence in that "don't worry, i'll make, i've got pleanty of room", then i dissagree. that causes dinged doors and scratches, but not injuries. panic is the WORST thing you can do while driving. no matter what the situation. examples in my life: if there's an animal in front of me and thick traffic, sorry animal, i'm not slowing down or swerving. tha-thump. if i start to lose traction, slow down the car by letting off the gas, steer the correct way to correct the car's path. both of those things have happened to me quite a few times. i've had my car for over 5 years now (as long as i've been driving) and i've never been in a fender bender, smack, bang, boom, wreck, paint chip, and bumper brush because i KEEP MY COOL WHEN I DRIVE
  13. that's ALOT of stress you'd be putting on you CV joints with forester struts AND kingsprings. likely that you'll be going through cv's like oilchanges. and don't listen to andy about the king springs. he's got money to burn.
  14. i'm sorry, a lot of people think i'm sexist, which i fight them on, but i may very well be. but not in the "make me a chicken pot pie" way, just in the "my god i dont understand what you're thinking" way. i know we just went through this big thing with shawn's email, and i hope this comment doesn't "offend" anyone: would a man in that situation start to freak out, throw their hands in the air (wave them like they just dont care), and call the passenger's name to take over and "make it all better"? no. that's why my wife doesn't drive when i'm with her unless it's a long trip and i need a break. she can't handle weather or precarious situations without hyperventalating.

  17. i don't think that it's a difference in transmission that matters, because i think they're pretty much the same. however i think it's differences in the way the the awd is activated
  18. i knew you'd chime in. i think that the differences in the AWD system wouldn't allow the Andyjo modification to work. could be right, could be wrong....what do i know.
  19. you could change all sorts of stuff. that doesn't mean it'll help though. i changed my maf sensor a few weeks ago and my mileage greatly improved. it may not for you. you really gotta know your car and know its history before you just go out and start replacing sensors. will it hurt? no. will it help? who knows. and thanks Nip and Brian, that clears it up for me.
