  1. um...did you splice into the #11 wire going to the dutyC solenoid? if so, when you flip that switch youre turning off awd and forcing it into fulltime 4wd which will burn up the transmission unless there's enough slip on the ground for the wheels to catch up.
  2. eh...i never come into the old gen section...guess it's not exactly a hot seller...
  3. it's so cool seeing that car between an 06 outback wagon and an 06 STi
  4. i found this gl on autotrader.com and it is absolutely gorgeous...i'm going to post pictures because i dont know what kind of copyrights there are, but here's the link...GL
  5. but you have bigger pics? goto http://www.photobucket.com sign up...it's free (and very useful) upload your pictures onto there and then it'll give you 3 different source codes under each picture's thumbnails. copy the tag and paste it here into your message body.
  6. no no no....you're not getting what i'm saying... what i'm trying to say is, "I KNOW THAT"
  7. this emotiocon...i do not think it means what you think it means.... right. yes, i know that. it was flipping the light on when the wires were connected as normal spec, when the switch was turned to the "on" position, and when the switch was turned to the "off" position. now that i got a new switch, the light still comes on no matter what. i reconnected the wires together as they came from the factory, this time with a very snug wire nut and it seems to be working normally. i think i got a bad switch.
  8. ok.. i made an appointment at the dealership for wednesday. here's what i learned today through fiddling... 1. the FWD does not work if the solenoid's power is cut via the 4x4 switch (this is contrary to what i remembered when i put the switch in initially.) 2. i bought a new 20amp switch from advanced auto, hooked it up and i still got the 16 times flashing AT TEMP light no matter how the switch was flipped. 3. i used a wire nut to connect the two wires together, which restores the factory setup and i get no lights on startup. so, my conclusion is that i'll cancel my appointment at the dealership indefinitely and proclaim that the Andyjo 4x4 switch, cool as it may be, is a bad idea. i will leave the setup as-is until something goes wrong, then i'll take it in to the dealership. until then, everything seems to be back to "factory normality". now the only question i have is why the new switch wouldn't work.....
  9. i cut the wire, tap them together and if they spark, there's power. unfortunately my buddy who's ASE certified is in alabama until wednesday (i live in pittsburgh)
  10. so....how can i be sure that if i buy this it's actually what i need? is it something that my buddy can do in his garage who's a mechanic, but has never done anything like this before?
  11. yeah, i wanna know more so that the dealership can't screw me.. not so i can do it myself.
  12. can the solenoid be replaced without the clutchpacks, or is that one in the same? man...i really sound ignorant for someone with over 1000 posts.
  13. ok ok ok ok lemme go over the issues again, with the added events... 1. 4x4 switch installed 2. 4x4 switch burns out 3. took wires off of the switch and connected them back together, finishing the circuit, putting the car back to normal. 4. worked fine for a few days 5. Trans Temp light flashed indicating the Duty C failing during the previous ride. 6. FWD fuse installed works for a day 7. fiddle with the spliced wires where the 4x4 switch used to be, sparks, there is power. 8. take out fuse, all works to spec. 9. trans temp light again 10. insert FWD fuse, nothing happens 11. fiddle with spliced wires where the 4x4 switch used to be, sparks, there is power, FWD light comes on after the next Startup. that's the current state of events and where i am now. i do know this, the FWD fuse takes precident over all other awd/4wd mods. ie, the FWD will turn off the AWD as well as the Andyjo 4x4 mod. the FWD is supposed to conquer all, i proved this the day i installed the 4x4 switch while the car was in the air. so, that's odd the it wouldn't work for some reason. also, no, i don't have a garage, i live in an apartment and since i quit working at goodyear, it's been difficult to do much with my car aside from take it up to my boys for general maintenence which is when i can fiddle a bit while they're working on it.
  14. which costs around what? i just got the FWD to switch on. that should buy me some time, though it goes against the "fused together" theory (i think). i also tapped the wires together that were spliced for the Andyjo switch in my dash and they sparked, so i have power running.
  15. i know very little about transmissions. if the tranny is replaced, does the dutyc get replaced as well? is it all part of the same thing?
  16. you gotta be kidding me. i used to think you were a cool guy...now you suck. any idea why that would happen? this is awful news...i think before i go that route i'm going to re-check all of the wires that got spliced with the Andyjo mod. but, being that the fwd fuse doesn't work...i'm guessing something's fused. i'd LOVE to keep hearing other people's oppinions....
  17. 96 Legacy 2.2 LS when i turn the car on the the Trans Temp light flashes for about 10 seconds indicating that the last time the car was running there was no power to the Duty C; and i can conferm this because the car drives like a truck with the 4wd locked (stops in slow turning/hard to shift to park after stopping). i tried to put the FWD fuse in to disable the AWD but it didn't work!! it's a 20amp fuse. why is my duty C not getting power, and why does the FWD fuse not work? Disclaimer: i did the Andyjo 4wd conversion a while ago, but the switch burned out so i reconnected the awd to it's normal setup. all wires appear to be connected securely and tightly, the FWD fuse is NOT blown... i dunno....i really need some help guys!!!
  18. nothing wrong with getting out of the car to take a look.
