  1. ok ok, for one, i thought that my dad had fried it to the point where it was one large piece of molten metal. and two, if that wasn't the case, i thought it would be more expensive than i can afford, or more expensive than it's worth. by the way....you like how my smilies are doing the AWD burnout?
  2. ha ha ha ha ha, i'll be picking it up this weekend assuming surgery went well.
  3. IT LIVES!!! The Subaru came back to life late this afternoon on the coroners table! It woke up and said that it's heart (engine) is still beating strong, it just needs a new water pump and timing belt! Tally: Timing Belt Water Pump + Gaskets Idler Pully + Belt CV boot Total = $700 bones SHE's BULLETPROOF HAHA :burnout:

  5. well, more than likely i'll be doing a "best offer, as is, you haul."
  6. i haven't heard back from the coroner yet. she also had 1/4 panel cancer, and blown rear leg, and......i can't think of a "human" way to put "the idler pully froze and melted the AC belt last week. also the telescoping antenna broke off" she did just buy a new pair of hiking boots, however. if anyone can think of a more human way to say the last two things, let me know.

    Rip

I know it's against protocol to post the same thing in more than 1 section, but this is important to me. you all understand, i'm sure. if a mod feels it necissary to delete one, delete the one in the New Gen forum. she would have wanted it that way.
  8. so....long story short, any idea how much an ej22 (1996) with the internals costs?
  9. TOO BIG!!! i just called and they said that they didn't fit in the rear well. they also said that they figured this out after they mounted all of the tires...i hope i don't have to get into a fight about getting charged for that. it's not my fault they didn't think to mount one and test it front and rear... anyway, i'm now going with 205/75r15 Pathfinder Trail A/P which is only 1 size bigger than an outback, so i can't see there being a problem fitting.
  10. ...why can't you just say "yep, they'll fit no problem! you'll love it!"........pessimist :-p
  11. so, i just ordered a new set of tires for my legacy that should be in tomorrow. i think they might be too big, and i'm nervous about the hassle at the garage. 215/75r15 goodyear wrangler rt/s on a 96 legacy sedan with an OB lift. anyone have experience with this size on this model?
  12. reason i'm asking is because i put a set of FIIAM air horns in my legacy a few years ago and at one point i had the same exact symptoms that you're having and the subaru dealership found that putting the air compressor onto the factory horn wires was blowing a shared fuse. disconnected the aftermarket horns and rewired them with an inline fuse and stronger guage wire and havn't had the problem since.
  13. we could potentially meet half way. it's 7 hours from Hilliard (Columbus), OH to Charlotte, NC. but, all this depends on when my wife gets a job. once she gets a job, i get a car....see how that works? heh heh she had an interview yesterday so if all goes well it'll be up for sale in about a month.
  14. do you guys think it would be worthwhile monetarily to go ahead and fix the engine maint. and replace the glasspack with a stock muffler? i.e. would i get a better return if i took care of the issues that may make it less desirable?
  15. yeah, that's about what I was thinking, especially because of the maintinence that needs to be done. just driving down the road it looks like a fine car (there's no real body damage unless you're looking for it.)
  16. No, it's actually not for sale, but i want people's oppinions. I'm looking at selling my legacy. Even though i don't have any recent pictures, i'll do my best to describe the car and get pictures as soon as i can find my camera post-moving. Specs: 1996 Legacy LS Green EJ22 130k miles Moon roof 15" alloys Mods: Glass Pack Outback struts Hella 500 Driving lights Damage: Rust on "the spot" (right rear 1/4 by the well) ---it has rusted through. some minor front bumper damage ---holes where Hellas are mounted ---bottom middle has been cut off due to cracking from parking blocks some minor rear bumper damage ---paint cracks on right corner AC clutch chirps Telescope antenna snapped (will fix) Is Due For: Timing belt, water pump (makes noise), etc Notes: Telescope antenna on a switch because CD player is not compatable - will replace with stock stereo New factory speakers New DutyC AWD-4WD ready (wires are set up, just attach a switch) New MAF New Knock Sensor Basically, what i'm thinking is that it'd be a fine car for a college kid or s new driver. i'd love to hear oppinions on its worth.
  17. yeah because i know that the outbacks have a lower engine than the legacy's to make up for the cv angle. i found that out when i compared my outback-strutted legacy to an actual outback of the same year once.
  18. is it possible to make an outback into a legacy the same way you can make a legacy an outback?
