  1. yes, the hydraulic fork is the only one used, not the cable fork I dont het this quote at all ? you mean the pilot bearing? same as original Subaru
  2. would it be okay to leave the 4whl shifter where it is ( ahead of the gear shift) and just move the shifter 10 in back?
  3. I forgot you are using the standard Sub body and motor mounts, so there is no fuzzy math involved, from what I can tell, you just need to move back 10 inches what about the hiegth of the controls? are you just going to cut the tunnel?
  4. do you have some idea of the relationship between the drivers position and where the shifter is located? I gotta know where the existing shifter is located now in order to change to where you need to be
  5. have you done any work on your pinion angle Kody? will you need to set back the engine to ensure a good angle from the transfer case to the front axle?
  6. this is open to any discussion, it has nothing to do with detracting with all the wonderful work done on this project, its an offer to improve future work for guys intrested in doing this kind of work and having a safe, fun, streetable project
  7. the angle just looked too extreme to handle well , when you enter into a turn the whole geometry changes in the bump steer so much, I was worried about the shake that develops from the sideways movement I am just being German >;o)
  8. hello this is absolutly beautiful but I gotta ask about the panhard bar arraingement as that panhard bar ( locater) moves in its travel, its going to move the whole axle towards the passenger side ( by quite a large distance) during its arc, that sideways movement in turn will turn the wheels to the drivers side because it shortens the distance from the steering gear to the passenger side steering knuckle did you overcome that with a stiffer spring?
  9. I had to build some motor mounts for the Starquest guys and I havent completed the remote shifter yet, it comes down to cost and ease of installation, its so much easier and cheaper to just cast some long shift arms that resemble the original part instaed of the remote shifter and then cast some shifter housings at different lengths but I havent given up on my original design the housings run $425.00 plus shipping, they come with the throw out bearing and holder and the lower skirt and the housing itself
  10. thanks for asking mellow, this bellhousing belongs to this group, it was built exclusively for guys that dig having a roll cage in thier hot rod and a couple beers around a camp fire after a hard dayz crawlin >;o) feel free to distribute pics and add your input, be honest, tell the good with the bad and let the chips fall where they may I may make some changes such as including the cable clutch option as soon as I have time
  11. I have 3 on hand so anyone can order them anytime they want, just give me a bump
  12. trust yourself Kody pioneers always have arrows thrown at them keep the pics coming , the good and the bad, let the chips fall where they may
  13. It was ever ment to be a job >;o) it was only suposed to be a retirement hobby, but one thing lead to another which lead to another which took over all my time >;o) Its all good >;o)
  14. thank you for the kind words, I wish I knew how to be more acsessable my E mail is japaneseauto1978@yahoo.com I have had calls from Pakisitan and U.A.E, Dubai on this housing as well as Austrialia Bill Hincher 3505 W Alexis Rd Toledo,Ohio 43623
  15. the worst time of building a hot rod is when you find out it can be done, it takes away the challenge, then you get bored and aviod the build Finishing is like when you dream your on the railroad tracks and a train is coming and you can only move in slow motion >;o) put on your 'big boy boots' and make time to finish the build right after the beer party:)
  16. I could adjust out a pattern for the R 514 and the later R 150's but the reason the R 154 was avioded was because of the cost and availablity of them but tha basic housing can be adjusted out where ya been mellow?
  17. the R 151 was used on the 22re toyota turbo engines
  18. soooooooooooooooooooooo? if a tree falls in the forest, would it make a niose? anybody? are you guys having a cigarrette? I feel like a bad date that got left at the doorstep
  19. welcome home buddy, how was the 'adventure'?
  20. what I have been doing while we wait fr Kody >;o) this machine is called a nibbler or pullmax style machine, it was built for making circles, but I also build my own dies for what ever purpose I want to use a flex plate is just that, it flex's and its also like a spring, it gets pushed forward under load, the flex plate has to move about .060 so a bit of a bend not only keeps a little of pressure against the load but when you bend steel, you double its strength without adding weight I opened the center hole so I could mount my adapter and then drilled it to accept the Ford C-4 torque converter and this was one of the reasons the C 4 was chosen, it has a 10.5 in bolt circle pattern, which was just small enough to fit inside the ring gear that was selected, the GM converter was 10.75 and would not fit I mounted the flex plate to the coupler just for the center, then I trimmed the outer diameter to size for the ring gear this is the finish look, I need to pay some attention to detail but I was pretty happy with it, with the smaller ( 10 in or smaller ) converter I will be mounting the starter as a reverse set up but I kept the ring gear on the flex plate so anyone could select and buy what ever stall speed converter they may want
  21. yeah, for all the trouble its better just to stay with the Toyota trans, but each to his own, the versitility is built into the housing
  22. its not that easy there is a lot of attention to detail to design a functional bellhousing to a given transmission/engine combination pilot bearings, throw out bearings, throw out bearing holders, custom disc's everything has to work together If you want to invest your time, I would be glad to help you
  23. yes, it will bolt up but you are responsible to find the throw bearing and clutch disc
  24. no man, Its a direct bolt up, the only difference between the A 15 and R 150, 151, 154 is the input shaft length they all share the exact same bolt pattern, thats why I included the bolt pattern on the original bellhousing, now all thats required is a spacer, or a new housing could be cast from the original pattern to include the length
