  1. i use the round eraser fits in a drill, rubs the decal and glue off.
  2. couild be a bad distibutor cap or wires. to check the wires, open the hood when it is dark and if you see a light show around the wires time to change.
  3. i have a few on my web site, you did not specify what model you have.
  4. I usually get into trouble when I think but here goes, the heads on your engine may still be good. alot of EA82's have bad heads, whole cars can be had for a song, the engine might had for free, use your heads to fix a bad one.
  5. i doubt it. the windshield post on a three door tilts back further than a loyale. the three door windshield will be longer than the wagon, same width just longer.
  6. don't forget to replace the camshaft and front crank seals also.
  7. i never have replaced them, just make sure you get the washers on properly. the washers are narrower to the center of the block, the wide part goes to the valve covers.
  8. some radiator shops can replace the plastic parts. just takes a special pair of pliers and a new end.
  9. if the seal is retained by a screw-in cup the cup may not be in all the way; is the output shaft loose? Also important to note the seals are directional, ie. there is a left and right side. If you get the sides mixed up it will actually push oil out of the seal, although it should not be too much.
  10. you can adjust the needle. the needle moves because in the back the metal is heated and causes the needle to move. When these gauges were like yours it indicated a direct short in the wire between the sending unit and gauge. Be sure to check the wire for bare spots. you must pull the cluster, disasemble and you will see what to do. Might be you could do it from the front, I always did it from the back, just can not remember why now.
  11. here is where I either look like a hero or a .... I have posted a file on my web site called Digital Dash Conversion.zip link: http://willsmith.dtdns.net/Digital%20Dash%20conversion.zip two jpegs and a text file. shows the pin out on the analog dash. Helpful suggestions welcome. Will
  12. I could post the harness diagram to convert a digi to an analog if anyone wants to convert like I did.
  13. I got a reply only took a week. Prices on an EA82 SPFI is $1295; price on an EA82 T is $1795. add shipping to both of around $150.
  14. you will need the pin out diagram for both dashes. then just figure out which colors you need to connect. as an example figure out which wire from your digi car goes to your gas tank sending unit then figure out which plug on your new analog dash is for the gas gauge, connect them, move on to the next gauge. I have done the conversion albeit only on the gauges, dash lights and 4wd indicators. I did not connect the open door, light indicator, and clock side of the cluster. After 6 hours I had had enough. All the sending units, speedo and tach worked just fine. The cost to repair a digidash is around $250.
  15. several insurance companies will cover the entire cost of the epoxy repair if you have glass breakage coverage. They figure it will keep it from cracking until you trade it in on a new one.
  16. The condition of the vehicle is for the most part irrelevant when purchasing liability insurance. The condition becomes important when you need collision/ damage. Liability only pays to fix the other guys vehicle, you eat your own repairs. Call around on the phone and internet for quotes, be upfront and tell them you are new to all this and you want a quote for liability insurance at the minimum coverage required by the state(unless you have lots of assets).
  17. replacing panels is lots of work. You could instead do what is know as a "top and tail". Which is cut the body in the middle of the windshield posts and across the floorboard under the drivers seat. Remove the back half of the car and replace it with the back half of the wagon which was cut in the same place. A little welding and some other finish work and you have an wagon with much less work.
  18. towing is easy, it's those panic stops that are difficult (voice of experience). I no longer tow with a light weight vehicle.
  19. I have done the same thing many times myself. Your Y-pipe is from a different model. You need that spacer because your Y-pipe will not bolt up properly without it. The tube on the spacer is pinched off if I don't miss my bet.
