Temperature Sensor Location
So after working on my car a little I took it for a spin and the temperature gauge went all the way down to cool, I noticed an exaust leak, and my radiator fan won't turn on. This all happend at once, when I hit a bump, are they related? where is the sensor for the gauge?

Who's got a winch?
ok, I heard that a winch shouldn't be rated at more than half of what your winching, so a 2000lb car should have a 1000lb winch, does this just not matter? (could you essentially lift your car up a tree with a 8000lb winch?)

part of black near the back wheel's ...why?
on most vehicles it's an aerodynamics piece, to push the air around the tires since they are very un-aerodynamic, Subaru might have done it for aesthetics (althought that never seemed to matter to them anywhere else )

Anything look out of place?
Skip, the car does seem to run fine, except for the hesitation when given fast throttle (maybe the fuel pump should be a pusher) the valve I was asking about is inside the air filter, this one I don't know where the two vacume hoses go to from the bottom, they may not have been hooked up before hand here's the new filter on

Loose shifter fix
Well my '79 had the plauging loose shifter, *deep breath* so I went through the shifter down to the transmission and diagnosed it to the screw in the shaft coming from the transmission connecting to the shifter through the bracket so the screw wears at the non-threaded section in the shaft, so the solution would be to find somthing to fill the hole through the shaft better, a larger diameter screw, the stock screw is a 6mm metric screw, so I bought a 7mm at the same length, only problem is the hole is still for a 6mm screw, so I used the 7mm screw to tap through the bracket and shaft, about half way through the shaft SNAP, the screw broke, so, it worked but I'll never get the screw out! oh well so now the shifter only moves with the shaft from the transmission, while in gear the shifter only moves about 1 inch (25mm) instead of 4+ inches (10cm)
