  1. You can't get any bigger tires for the 13s. You would have to find some pug wheels or drill some 6 lug wheels to put bigger tires. But without a lift you can put about 27s under your car if your not afraid to do a little fender chopping:grin: also, if you lift up your back seat there is a rubber plug directly in the middle of the floor pan... Remove this plug and there is a bolt in there(19 mm i think). Take an impact gun, or ratchet if you don't have one, and crank that bolt down. This will raise up your rear end about 2 inches. Good luck, Ryan
  2. Ahh. Well i guess you learn something new every day. Lol. Is this an upgrade from previous years, or does it really even make a difference? The reason i ask is cause Im getting ready to put A 5 speed in my 82 and if there's one that's better than the others id like to get That one.
  3. Wow that's clean. I would love to get ahold of one that looked like that!! Ryan
  4. That just goes to show you the conditions in which qn ea81 will run. It took someone making the mistake of leaving the gasket on the block to kill the engine. Even tho the internals looked like that!! Go subie go!!!!
  5. That's what i was going to say. Its worked for me plenty of times. GOOD LUCK!!! Ryan
  6. your best bet would probably be to just go to a parts store and buy some gauges. But if your going for stock look then that's understandable. Ryan
  7. I think everything from 87-89 were the same, so that gives you a little more options. But Im not totally positive. Ryan
  8. Alright thanks!! Ill just search the forum for the whole how to and post an ad in the classifieds when Im ready to buy:banana: thanks, Ryan
  9. I guess i never really thought about that. Lol. How much does that swap usually run and what all does it entail? Thanks, Ryan
  10. Alright, well it looks like everyone agrees that i should keep the wagon. I guess ill just have as much fun in it as i can for now and when that perfect BRAT or hatch comes along ill just snatch it up so i have it for when the wagon quits. But i really don't have the money for an ej swap even tho that would be savage. I do plan on doing a 5 speed d/r swap soon. I have aquired the clutch and flywheel i need for it already. I dont see the big deal with Having the disc Brakes. I dont have them and my car stops on a dime everytime. Thanks for all your input, Ryan
  11. I have an ea 4 speed that low range still works great on That someone can have. I cut off the input shaft for a pilot shaft lol but if you just want it for low range it'll work. But i don't know if the ratio is the same. Just pay shipping and its yours. Otherwise its gettin scrapped thanks, Ryan
  12. this puts lots of awesome ideas in my head! man how i would love a solid front axled BRAT!!!! haha. So sweet
  13. I love my 82 gl wagon to death and its been the best car I've ever owned. Since i got it I've been wanting to make it into an awesome wheeling wagon. I've got a lift lined up for it and i have wheels and tires for it and i made a beefy front bumper for it. But heres the thing...i think i decided i want a hatch or a brat. I want something a little lighter. I love the wagon but i don't know if i want to continue with my project:confused: And i definitely can't have 2 cause i already have a 75 ford pickup, a 77 ford pickup, and a 1980 bronco. Anyone have any input? And Im not selling the fords. They are my babies and ones just for parts anyway. Maybe someone's got a brat or hatch and is interested in part trade for a great little wagon or some 70's ford parts:grin: Let me know thanks, Ryan
  14. Ill come haul her away at no cost to you:grin: but seriously... Wheel her til she quits going. Give her a proper burial:banana:
  15. I have a 75 ford pickup and its a beast. Its never got me stuck in anything and i love mobbing it. I got my 82 ea81 wagon about 5 months ago and i love it. Its a lot cheaper to work on and its never let me down. And like you said, its a little more of a challenge to take it where they get the big trucks, but its a blast. And its really fun to work on. I would say go with an ea81 car just cause they're simpler and more reliable. But you wont have the 5 speed dual range tranny. It will be a 4 speed dual range. But its really easy to swap in the 5 speed d/r and cheap too. If you go to Seattle or spokane ever there are u-pull junk yards where you can get a tranny for about 50 bucks. So welcome to the world of subaru and have fun!!
  16. I want one sooooo bad! if anyone could point me in the right direction on where to get one that would be awesome! or just where to get the intake and ill start from there. I need more power but i don't want to do an ej swap. Lol
  17. I don't think having the ej will make a difference in the driveline length, but it seems like i remember hearing that the driveline needed to be 117 centimeters
  18. Extending the one piece is your better option. Less u joints to worry about and no vibration from the carrier bearing that is almost impossible to mount perfectly. I plan on doing the 5 speed swap soon and i plan on extending my driveline also.
  19. Yeah. I go to ezs every now and then but theyre kinda expensive. Most the time i wait til i have a list of stuff to get then make a trip over to spokane Pull and save. Its way cheaper that way
  20. The hub i need is any hub from an ea81 or ea82 car. I found another board member that said he would ship me one for 20 dollars, so unless i make a trip to spokane in the near future, i think thats just about as cheap as i can find one.
  21. Is the intake a fairly simple swap or are there some modifications i need to make?
  22. Sounds like more work then i wanna do. Lol. Maybe ill just go the weber route. Ive got an ea82 intake i can use. Ive heard those are better than the ea81 intakes
  23. I have a 4 speed d/r. I have pretty heavy duty bumpers i built for it. And i wanted 28 or 29" tires for it. Maybe ill just do the spfi swap. What parts would i need?
