  1. it was a very steep hill!! lol. that car climbs like a billy goat!! god i wish i had the money for an ej swap! im prolly gonna end up going with some swampers also. but i guess ill just have to figure it out through my own experiences. lol
  2. Trucks are awesome! i have a 77 ford f250 and that thing kicks a** and goes anywhere. But to turn the big tires (which It does very well) my engine is very strong and gets about 4 miles per gallon. But due to the power of the beast i break things all the time and its really expensive. Thats Why subarus are so great. They can do anything jeeps and toyotas can and its ALOT CHEAPER to fix them when they break. No my subaru will never wheel like my truck does, but like everyone else is saying. Theyre completely different worlds. But i love showing all my other truck friends whats up in a subaru. Lol
  3. That gives me a lot of good info about tires, but i still don't know if the gearing will get Me in trouble going up hills
  4. i was climbing up a fairly steep hill in 1st gear low range in my 82 ea81 and it started bogging pretty hard so i had to stop a couple times up the hill to give it lots of gas and pop the clutch:rolleyes: so to my question: i know lots of people put bigger tires on these cars and i was wondering how they do with bogging down, if i put a weber on would that eliminate the problem? or am i pretty much just looking at an ej swap? please help!! thanks, ryan
  5. if anyone has an old hub or drum laying around that i could borrow or buy off you for cheap that would be great, im going to drill some 6 lug wheels i just acquired and i dont wanna mess up any of my hubs. thanks, ryan

  8. well theres an aftermarket oil pressure guage on it, and all the copper tubing is coiled up in the engine bay, so i just need to hook it up to the sender unit, but until now i didnt know where it was, lol. so thanks! ill check it out tomorrow.
  9. im pretty sure a previous owner of my 82 ea81 wagon swapped a different engine into my car. my oil pressure guage isnt hooked up and i dont know where the spot in the block to hook it up to is. i know that DLs dont have oil pressure guages, maybe they dont have a spot for one in the block??? anyone know for sure?? help would be much appreciated!!! thanks, Ryan
  10. ok, i think i will just wire the other one to a switch when i find out if it works or not. most the time i have no fans running, then when im crawling in the hills it will heat up a little and the one will turn on
  11. i live in wenatchee. just a little over an hour away. and some pretty good wheelin between us
  12. i built a 2x4 steel tube bumper for my 82 wagon, cut my fenders, new tires, cb radio. i think thats it. oh, new cv axles, ball joints, and wheel bearings soon to come: 4"lift swampers make stinger bar for new bumper make rear bumper welded diff snorkel 2500 lbs winch safari rack replace 4speed d/r with 5 speed d/r $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ is all i need!!! haha
  13. i was wondering about the fans on my 82 ea81 wagon, it has 2 electric fans, but it seems like the only one that ever comes on is the one on the passenger side. is one supposed to be on all the time? or does it only get used if you install the optional a/c? anyone?
  14. i think thats just what engines start doing when they have 250k+ id say really the only way to stop it is rebuild it. new rings and valve seals should do it pretty good. but its not hurting anything but the hippies' feeling the way it is right now:grin:
  15. this almost happened to me in my bronco. i was driving down the road and i could feel a slight vibration in the pedals, so i stopped and checked out the front end and couldnt find anything wrong so i kept driving. after a minute or 2 the slight vibration turned into a lound clunking when i was going 35 down the western, so i pulled over again to find out what was wrong and my driver side front had all 5 lugs loose with about 4 or 5 threads left til they were gonna fall off.... pheewww...tragedy avoided!
  16. AWESOME! i love that new sti sedan!!!
  17. sweet, well then let me get some cash together and ill get one

  22. heli coiled 3 of the 4 exhaust bolt holes new exhaust gaskets all around straight piped from the cat. sounds and performs much better. 4 inch lift coming soon!!!
  23. i found my man. date, 2/82 so according to the list thats not the original engine
  24. the manufacture date sticker is gone, but my 82 is 709509 and im pretty sure its the original. which would make it a very early 82, prolly manufactured in 81
