  1. If you called ARP http://www.arp-bolts.com/pages/contact.html I do think they can supply the head bolts needed.

  3. I use a nice little Radio Shack pn 22-802 Digital Multimeter. It is self contained in a nice case with audio sound and shuts off if not in use, to save batt. But it looks like they upgraded the model and raised the price somewhat. http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F011%5F008%5F002%5F000&product%5Fid=22%2D820
  4. Brillo bad with the soap works great or you could go with some sort of Chrome polish.
  5. As long as you have the test plugs unplugged and reading the O2 light on the ecm. That would be code 14.
  6. The Hayens book I've got dosen't show a code 14
  7. I don't know how you got them to fit, because 68-72 super beatles had the 4x130 wheels!!!

  11. Not sure about over heating, but the grease will expand when it warms up and if you pack the hub full there is no room for it to expand and it will blow out your seals.
  12. Packing bearings- Take a good size wad of the grease you have and put in the palm of your hand. With your other hand hold the bearing on edge and tap with some force in the grease in your hand, turning as you go. It will take more grease to load the bearing than you would think. Keep this going until the bearing won't take anymore grease. Or, There is a tool you can buy that incloses the bearing and use a grease gun. But you would miss all the fun of getting your hands all greased up. Install the bearings and your good to go. Craven

  15. Square backs and Super Beatles were air cooled and 4lug.
  16. Do a test, Take a cloth with some laquer thinner and rub it on a small out of the way spot,in the trunk or what ever, wait awhile do it again in the same spot. If the paint doesn't lift or come off. You will be ok.
  17. What you described was a tube chassie Land Cruiser. With enough imagination, talent and money, a person could build anything. How do you think the first dune buggies came about, a rusted out or rolled VW, unbolt the body throw a rollbar on the floor pan add some bigger rear tires and there you go. A 36hp car that would go about anywhere. Then someone said, if we get rid of the heavy floor pan we can go faster in more places yet. It's all in what a person wants. I think this thread is more about, What can I make without spending a ton of money out of a Rusted out Suby and still have a fun car to drive. I think a little two seat sports car with a Suby Hi performance 4X4 drive train would be the cats a$$. It's all about money and how you want to play.
