My fix for trim clips, drilled and tapped 8/32 screw, used adhesive mounting tape and fender washers with nuts on the back side. Workin awesome.

Looking at buying this head unit, I have questions.
It may just be me, but it looks like it will not fit? I have a loyale and i used a marine style pyle plmr88? I think, every other stereo i tried would not go in all the way and stuck out of the dash. I'd do alot of measuring before ordering brother.

Subaru Loyale 1991
Let me know what you do with the oil pressure situation, i've heard you can do a series of different fittings so you can make the loyale sender/gauge work properly in the car. I wanted to do an aftermarket one but haven't done much about it.

Finally the finished product! The car is a 92' Loyale but instead of Loyale it now says Subaru because i put trim on off of an 89' GL. Sweet. Owning an old subaru you truly have to think outside the box!

Another shot of the newly worked clips in the trim.

...and here is my fix. Grind off the old clip part, then drill and tap a hole for a 8/32 X 1" screw, then apply 3M mounting tape to where the old tape was on the trim. Next line up the clips to the holes, feed them through then attach a fender washer and nut. Tighten them up and your good to go!

Here is a clip that holds the trim on the side of the car, broken of course. But ive got a remedy!

The reason for my "alias" scooner.
My morning started out good, Gage and I went out to the garage to put the new wheels on. Started with the drivers rear, zipped off the lugs with the impact which Gage loved and whipped the tire off. Grabbed a new one and put it on, grabbed my brand new bag of lugs and threaded on all six then grabbed my impact and started zippin. Uh oh that's not right! Then tried to back them off and all but two came off, then the worst part, 2 of the welded studs broke in the back with the lugs still on! That sucked. Eventually had to get my grinder with a cutoff wheel and cut the lug nut in half then bang it with a hammer. Then drove to 4 different stores looking for new studs, luckily napa had 6 and i bought the right lug nuts... M12X1.25 not M12X1.50!!! What a waste of time, i was able to get back, weld in the new studs, and put that all back together. Next thing to do is brakes as i can see how worn the brake pads are. All is well now but GEEZUS that was frustrating!

The hood scoop looks really good, i might have to do one on my loyale, non functional of course but it'd look good!

Finally put my new wheels and tires on! 14x6 steel wheels off of??? And 27X8.50R14 General Grabber AT2s which came highly recommended by several people including jj421 (Grant) What is truly awesome is i have my full turning radius back, with ZERO rub anywhere i love it and putting these on took out the shimmy and vibrations i always felt! Now to get this trim on...eventually. Ha.

92 Loyale Body Moulding Hardware
That's a good idea, my wife actually suggested using a type of glue or epoxy. I called the subaru parts shop at the dealership this morning, he looked it up and said no way. They've been discontinued. Figured it wouldn't hurt to try.

Nice, yeah that adhesive is pretty awesome especially if you use some alcohol to clean the surface it attaches to! Those clips were the same on all of the EA82s i think, i took molding off of three different wagons trying to save some clips ranging from an 87 to a 93 Loyale. By the way, the junkyard east of the super walmart in fort collins, co has an ABUNDANT supply of subaru parts!

92 Loyale Body Moulding Hardware
Just counted 32 holes total for my 92' wagon, i think i might drill a hole where the clip sticks out and into the body panel. Maybe thread in a 10/32 or something than just use a washer and nut on the inside of the body while also using some good double sided tape. I think there is just enough room for the head of a pan head screw to fit in there.

The GLs used the same clip, i know, i went to a pick and pull today for all of the trim pieces and tried to save the little clips but it's useless they just snap from being old. I just tried googling to try and find them and there's nothing anywhere haha! So, time to get creative and find a new way to hold these suckers on, i'll update my thread with the way i chose to put them on, stay tuned.

Subaru under water story.
Scooner replied to Scooner's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt'd be really cool if the guy who owned it was a member on here, then we could keep track of that thing and see how far it goes. I bet it smells awful on the inside though! I'd imagine the wheel bearings would be one of the first things to go.

Hello all! Subaru love!
Nice! I've never used the full site i don't think ha. I'm glad there is a decent mobile version! Are you on the search for another subie right now or later in the future?

http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/1986-subaru-legacy-starts-after-being-submerged-in-lake-for-three-months-ar130602/picture458976.html They say this is an 86' Subaru Legacy, something tells me they meant to say 96'? I think its BS, the owner sprayed the ECU with brake cleaner and it started right up. Yeah sure. Check it out for yourself.
