  1. check this bad boy out! http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/A_2970/article.html
  2. sounds great! Also HoodRiver area melts out first so, that is some kewl stuff...Scrap and I went up ther a few times...
  3. Well, I use each type for a different purpose ....I have fog/driving/flood-spot. Conditons are always changing so, it means changing lights for conditions. I think the 520 fogs are my most used favs..Great for rain, snow, deer, elk, coyotes, bear, mtn goats....boulders, blowdown!!!
  4. I did recover a brand new Toy tundra an hour proir before this shot(several miles down low)!!! They had street tires and no chains plus they almost slid completly off the rd into oblivion!!! I had to back down two miles before I could turn around...They would have been totally screwed as 2ft plus fell that night!!! It was a raging storm blowin in ....!!! Not showin off ...just posting the facts ....Subys rule in snow!!!
  5. here's my setup PIAA 520 fogs 85w (front bumper) PIAA 540 driving lamps 55W (front bumper) Lightforce striker RMDL 170's 100w focusable (overhead) Hella FF75 driving 55w (backup overhead) I added an optima D35 yellow top for reserve!!!
  6. Hi Spiffy! I know most of those areas very well...call me and will 'Run to the hills'. There is some good stuff out my way in off Peavine rd. from McMinnville... Gifford Pinchot has got some nice stuff but abit of a drive for most. I like the area around Mt.Adams . Lolo pass has some hidden treasures for stockers later on when the snow melts.. Tillamook ORV is best when things are open ...Most of the good stuff is blocked off for winter...Make sure you have a ORV permit! It's a $175 fine and Sheriffs are on quads, bikes, 4x4's. It's like $10.50 for 2years! Any of the local stores on hwy 6 have them or GI Joes. We could hook up with Chaz too.. my cell 503-314-7535
  7. ok remember folks it's just a video ! It's an old legacy....and would probably sit and rot somewhere anyway...The car is basically worth about nothing anyway... It's not a 360 or a GL hatch or brat. There are thousands of Legacys out there!!! The point of the video from my stand point was the toughness of the legacy...(yeah I hate to see the environment trashed or a running car) But come on... the emissions on an old legacy doesn't even come close to the new legacies.......If ya wanna complain about a waste don't watch movies or television, videos...they trash alot of nice cars! nuff said...
  8. Usually most torq. conv. installs are simple ...turn the convertor (facing the convertor)clockwise until you feel three clicks as it engages the splines properly then it wil be seated . You might get lucky and slide the convertor back out and then try again. However, damgage to the pump may occur if installed incorrectly . The seal may be damgaged as well. If you haven't ran it yet you may get lucky.
  9. You gotta see this vid! A true 'Boxer' in action...! http://wrxvideo.vidiac.com/video/c68aebfc-9261-476d-a1ab-0bfd5ac8697f.htm
  10. Great pics Chaz! It's always kinda hard to get the shot when ur on the move ya know..especially when were diggin or pullin'. Hey Trevor, I would've taken ya up there . However, I know ur not a early riser...we were on the road by 8am from Sandy...the answer to your other question . That climb were headin down was before we hooked up at Badger lake where I pinched my tire between rocks and bent the rim....
  11. Last weekend Chazmataz and I met up for a day of wheelin' in the snow . We headed up toward Lolo pass and almost made it . However, the snow conditons were rather soft. I broke trail in some old tracks with the rear LSD working hard and the trans too (got hot twice-4eat) so we stopped for a few to let it cool down . I went as far as I could highcentering my outback , Chaz gave me a quick pull and I was out. We decided to turn around . We got to a turnaround a stuck both rigs right next to one another..DOH! Some digging and we were out. We headed to Still creek basin for some quad trail action. This was more fun than lolo pass anyway. We did find a cool waterfall along the way. I discovered a quad trail off fs rd 32 and cleared some blowdown with my bow saw. Then we went off on the powerline rd(trail) which had a tough climb . I attempted but couldn't quite make it up over some slippery rocks coverd with snow. Chaz made it with a bit of effort and then I tried again just shy and stopped .We hooked up 3 tow straps and chaz gave me just enough of a nudge to get me over (nice work!). We continued on to find a few dead ends and then found a way through the loop . I got stuck trying to climb a slippery slope. Chaz tried to give me a pull but his clutch was heatin up . We then hooked up Chaz's industrial come-along! to a tree and after some man power winching we were off again heading down. It was a good day of wheelin'...

It's good Karma when you pulled the jeep out .....payin' ya back for when you got stuck....I'm sure a smaller cat would've pulled ya out as a D9 is huge!
  13. yeah deer are a pain but ELK or MOOSE! is flat out scary!!! I saw some dust kickup at dusk about quarter mile ahead with two minivans approaching the dust from the side of the road ...HOLY ELK DUDS BATMAN!!! A harem of cow's about 6 of them ran right in front of the minivans doing 70mph!!! dirt clods and skidmarks & dust !!! they just missed them .It looked like a freight train crossing the road!!! that made me slow way down after that! A 200 lb deer is nothin compared to a 900lb elk!
  14. I have seen alot of bad stuff ...to me the worse stuff to see is dumpin trash....beer cans, bottles...brass!!! I clear blowdown when needed and have informed rangers and sherif's of hazzards or abuse when I see it. I have even added water bars or dug trenches to help water flow to drainage properly. I have particpated in SOLV cleanups since the 70's! I practice pack it in... pack it out!( or leave no trace). The best advice I can give is show other's what you can do to personally and collectively to make a difference. It only takes one to improve or ruin a resource.
  15. ha! not enough power...IF my N/a 2.5L -4eat lifted outback wagon can keep up with a wrx squealing it's tires on logie trail I've got plenty! It's not what you drive it's how you drive it...!
  16. At least you got to wheel the night before! Bummer about the carnage...missing the mudrun.
  17. Here's what I did the last day of the year...These folks were lucky I came upon them! Plus some fun wheelin' prior to that at Mt.Hood. http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=69998#post69998
  18. Looks like a blast Chaz! We will have to hook up again and go wheelin'
  19. We had a great time given the short amount available. Bryan you forgot the red Chevy 3/4 ton diesel 4x4 I pulled out as well...so that makes five pulls...Bryan and I tag teamed the pulls quickly and efficiently. Great to see some familar faces and new ones as well. I will say there was way too many folks who had no business being up there unprepared....if a storm rolled in it would've been ugly. I've climbed Rainier and have seen perfect sunny days turned to hell in hours..reguardless of forcasts(mountains create their own weather). thx Ken for the quick pull. I got pulled out again farther down when tryin to pass a truck . The snow conditions were such it was easy to get stuck & especially offtrack. A few pics from my perspective.
  20. Wahoo! I'll have my outback there this time....I had fun last Sun. night @Mt.Hood breakin trail...
  21. awesome! night run breakin trail in knee deep powder at sherar burn rd. plus I pulled a new Tundra out too!
  22. Anyone interested in playin ' in the snow at Mt.hood let me know I plan on heading up to Devil's peak lookout tower 5,045ft it's a great drive in the snow! Bring chains, shovels, chainsaw, bowsaw , axe, stove, food, clothing... etc. I plan on going this Sat. morning. or Sun. we will meet at the Sandy safeway parking lot near jiffy lube 9am. Heavy snow accumulation expected!!!WAHOO! The route will start on Still creek rd(rhoddadendron) and follow it until trillium basin and then head up sherar burn rd for 12miles to the end....then an easy 1mile hike to the tower. call me if interested 503-314-7535 Gregg here is the current rd. closure link.http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/mthood/conditions/index.shtml
