The block won't split for me I found pics and I have gotten all of the block halve bolts, and I have removed the pistons. What's going on??? Just a stubborn block???

scored free dohc ej25
I already nabbed it. It was free. I might just tear it apart to learn about it now.

Quite possibley. But he shut it down right when the noise started and had it towed. Oh well. I'll just frienkenmotor it. The block is perfect.

Ok, the REAL problem is he threw a rod bearing. it was pretty evident when i went out and turned the crank back and forth and you can feel and hear a clunking from within. Now i know you guys will say everything against it, but for some reason i wouldnt mind just putting this whole engine in my car. It came out of a 1996 Legacy GT. What the guy was doing was spinning donuts in the snow doing 6k for 5 minutes straight and heard clunk, then the non stop knocking, and thought he bent a rod. So, what i want to get at is this: all i ever hear bad about this engine is its tendancy to blow head gaskets (and throw the rod bearing xD). You guys told me about all the problems with the EA82 Turbo and addressed them to make it reliable. I'm pretty sure one of you guys nows a fix to solve the HG problem with the EJ25D. Links to a post or an answer is always much appreciated.

Poor 1986 XT turbo (sad story)
i shall scout it out for you sir :Salute: but i believe it has both. But just remember; if you give up, i'm here for her. Also, the one at the junk yard was actually an XT6, so i dont positively know about the hood.

Poor 1986 XT turbo (sad story)
we have a complete one at Tommy's Steel and Salvage in Pasco, WA. Its pretty much untouched. but also my family owns a carpet cleaning business and we specialize in flood clean up, that car would be no problem for me.

Need help ASAP 2000 forester 2.5 just started knocking and scweeking
soobie_newbie67 replied to Prwa101's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMiles means nothing when tearing down an engine. It's still the same process. You might just find more to replace.

soobie_newbie67 replied to Prwa101's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell. If you didn't drive it too much like that it might be rebuildable, if the cranks not trashed. Even at that you can just get a new crank. You'll have to ask someone else about ej22 swappin.

Legacy RS 1992 driving issues
soobie_newbie67 replied to hurro's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI'm assuming it's an auto, cause it sounds like your trans is on its way out. Check your trans fluid and diff fluid. They should be clean and up to level, and the trans fluid should not have a burnt smell. Yes, smell it. Your trans is actually bogging down your engine.

Ok then. I'll just chill with it then till I can tear it apart and see if the cylinder walls can be honed out and reuse the block with a new rotating assembly.

Actually I wanted to use the heads on my 2.2. One of the rods are bent cause it was ran low on oil. On the ej25. It has a bent rod. Not my ej22.

Frankenmotor time! Those are the right heads, right???

shouldn't the shifter lock???
Should my 1996 legacy have a lock for the shifter? I can shift without pressing the brake and shift into any gear without the ignition unlocked. Is that normal???

95 Legacy Wagon AWD Emergency Flashers Not Working
soobie_newbie67 replied to 3Pin's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDo your turn signals still work? Your on the right track checking the fuses first. What I found out is if that little square thing behind the button goes bad nothing turn signal related will work. That's of course if your legacy is the same as my 1996 legacy.

BIG box of subaru parts! who needs what!?
Have any floor mats?? xD

Q about ej22t
Shouldn't everything be the same between the n/a ej22 and the ej22t??? Of course other than the cross member. I would have thought the electrical connections and such would be the same.
-
Q about ej22t
The one at the junk yard is bolted to an automatic trans. Do they have a differently built auto for the turbo legacy? I'm hoping I can just bolt it in. My car is already auto and I don't really feel like changing it. Somehow or another I'm starting to like my auto :/ And I already I need the cross member.

Building 1996 Subaru Legacy GT-B
Dayamn. Well yeah since you tell me all that now. :/ well ************. My dream down the tube and I've done wiring harness swaps. I have the money for it too. Guess I'll settle for that clean ej22t at the junk yard. Half the price Can't thank you enough GD. You've saved me thousands by stopping my shenanigans xD

Building 1996 Subaru Legacy GT-B
Im turning my 1996 Legacy L into the Japanese Legacy GT-B. I dont know why they didnt release them in the united states but the GT-B has a twin turbo 2.0 that puts out 247 HP and 227 ft.lbs torque. The letter B in the name comes from the Bilstein suspension. So, i can get the bilstein shocks anywhere, and i found the engine on the JDM Engine Depot website, but they are current out of stock and i'm snagging one the instant they say they have it. The other thing is, what do i have to change on my car to run the 2.0? I'm pretty sure i have to get a different ECU, but will it wire up with little effort? I mean, by looking at the pics on the JDM Engine Depot you could swear from the top it looks exactly like the EJ22 and EJ25. http://www.jdmenginedepot.com/jdm_engine_details/203/Subaru_EJ20_Legacy_RS_&_GT-B_Turbo_%2811/96%29 Just check the link. Some other things on my list are the GT body kits and hood, brakes, rims (hopefully easier done then said for the rims) and a rear LSD. Oh, and all the parts for a manual swap, which i can just get from the junk yard. Oh, and the correct cross member.
