  1. Guess I'll build a bridge and get over it. :( I'm looking for a rust free wagon body I can put my motor in. I've got that rusted out gray 1991 spfi e82 4wd wagon that Todd brought home from Buckley last year. It runs great, but I have the "I want something nicer" idea stuck in my head. :)

  2. Installed new Brembo rotors and Bendix pads from drivewire.com on my 91 Loyale wagon. I obtained some good street tires and steel rims too. Also recently found a 89 GL wagon with a bad motor. No signs of rust. Hoping I can acquire it from the present owner. "It's a bubble top." 5MT 4WD e82 SPFI.
  3. I'll trade you a good running 86 Mercury for that red 89 GL wagon sitting over at your old man's place. darsdoug@yahoo.com

  4. California is broke like a bunch of other states. They neeed the gringo.
  5. Thanks again for the welds this morning. They turned out great. If anybody needs some welding done I'll give you a call for sure.

  6. Hey man, it's Wednesday night and I just got your pm. I'll grind the paint off in the morning and drive over .... soon as I get... your address? I wake up about 5:00am. Todds is the e81 Brat mechanic. He's on usmb. Want me to bring him? I'll have to check with him first. He lives in Mt. Vernon.

  7. Is that beveled flange gasket supposed to squash down some when you tighten the bolts? It looks like it's made of carbon fiber or something? Must be made of the same material as metallic brake pads?
  8. I've got a couple cracked welds on the drivers door of my wife's 90 Cherokee. Gotta bend em back in about 1/8", hold em flush, and re-weld em. Typical Jeep hinge problem. You busy tomorrow? ...burp.

  9. Installed aftermarket antenna in the center of the roof fourteen inches back from the top of the winshield. Drilled right through a support rib - (my luck) but it's all good. New wiper blades, oil and filter. The 85 vintage H style alloy wheels generate their own EMP's. Just kidding. They definitely gotta go though.
  10. I put a quart of ATF in the crankcase of my 91 Loyale to try and flush it out a bit. ATF is high detergent stuff. I've put about a hundred miles on it since then and I'm going to replace the filter and oil probably today. I noticed that I'm starting to get louder exhaust noise after yesterday when I put a pint of O'Reillys fuel injecter cleaner in with only a half tank of fuel. I sure hope it's only exhaust noise.
  11. I got the vinyl from a friend but you can probably get it at one of those large home improvemnt store's. You want the rigid stuff that you can hardly bend. That's what I used anyhow. I made the template with a piece of old newspaper. Traced the outline onto the vinyl with a laundry pen and cut the vinyl with large scissor's. I used a few of those short self tapping screws to hold it in place while the glue dried.
  12. Today I disguised those unsightly rust holes in the back quarter's of my Loyale. Waiting for the expanding foam to cure right now. The label on the can say's it's very sticky stuff. I sure hope so. I'll need some firm gripping adhesion to hold my textured vinyl patche's in place. The liquid nails helped a little. Now I just have to get some matching paint. I might shoot it with some flat black first to see what it look's like.
  13. Did a compression test and all cylinder's read: 150 psi except for No. 1 cylinder which was just shy of 160 psi.
  14. Oh what the heck. This is a pic of me and Chief Dan George's 1st niece. We got hitched in Las Vegas back in 97.
  15. I just received a cybermail from Todd and he said he got it running today. He just put four new spark plugs in it and gapped the point's at .018 and Whammo! it started right up. Wish I could have been there to hear it run but I'm back down here in south Seattle at my apt. I'm going to help him prep it and spray it. No rattle can job either. He has a compressor.
  16. Look at what we dragged home yesterday. It had been sitting in a barn for ten or twenty years. The right rear wheel was locked up during the entire tow. It finally went flat on us after dragging it for a couple mile's. The engine turns over fine. We pulled the spark plugs and sprayed some PB Blaster into the cylinder's first. Almost got it started, but the Weber on it need's a rebuild kit badly. We'll probably have to remove the gas tank and clean it out. Fuel line's, fuel filter and fuel pump no doubt need attention also. A couple retired guy's just having fun.
  17. 91 Loyale wagon 4X4 5MT Old south Seattle shade tree mechanic.
  18. You could ask your local public library to order one up for you. How to keep your Subaru alive, 2nd edition, by Larry Owens, copyright 1986, 1989, John Muir publications.
  19. I'm going to put it up in the air and see if the rear suspension component's are stable. If so, I'm planning on a SJR lift kit and getting some patch panel's. The tail end of both rocker panel's is rusted away too. I shall see what I can do. A $150 4WD Loyale that run's good still wasn't a bad deal far as I'm concerned.
  20. Not a whole lot. At least I've learned how to post a pic of old Rusty thanks to the help of a usmb member. What do you think?
  21. Now all I have to do is get some fiberglass resin, matting, bondo, and some expanding foam. I've done this before with rusthole's the size of football's and it lasted for years. I've got a few thousand hours experience working in body shops, but normally I just welded on patch panels. Thank's for the help with the copy & paste thing. I'm a greenhorn with computer's.
