  1. Ive been slowly working on my ea81 build. Installed a speedi-sleeve on the flywheel flange today. Hopefully that fixes the rear main leak But right now my motor build bench looks like this...
  2. Or just drill extra holes in between each hold in a 6-lug steel wheel... Make is look like a "universal":) Then youd have a 12-lug wheel, with almost infinite ways to mount it on your 4-lug subaru:banana:
  3. PIMP  Props for pushing on with this project. Fantastic work.
  4. Last link. Although mine are 14" So they would be equiv and Id assume identical to these. http://recstuff.com/14X6-5-4.5-White-Spoke-Trailer-Wheel.aspx And currently, 14's actually provide better off-road tire selection for these older Subarus, assuming you do not want to hack a tone of sheet metal to make things fit.
  5. Those look to be the exact wheels I have. Scored from a junk yard here in town for $5 a wheel
  6. I dont think Ive ever seen a non-safety bead trailer wheel either. Ive got a set of 14" trailer wheels in the shop that will eventually be drilled and fitted with some BFG A/Ts I just went to check, and they do have safety beads. I can get some pics for you tomorrow.
  7. Looks like a 6-lug trailer wheel to me
  8. lookin' good dude. Bravo for bringing this one back.
  9. No orings. The machined surface with a bit of sealant is what creates the seal. Bolts just hold the two halves together. Unless the cracks are huge, don't worry about them. Do not use any kind of sealant on the headgaskets.
  10. Welcome JTR!! Im right down the road in Moscow. Give me a shout if you need some help with anything. Ive got my own shop.
  11. just remove the entire spring/strut assembly. You do not need a compressor.
  12. With power steering the rag joints see very little stress. The rack should turn effortlessly with the motor running, and a good power steering pump. hence the "power" in power steering Dont even think about using rag joints on manual steering. They wont hold up.
  13. '84 gl wagon
  14. Ive got power steering, and I like the comfort rag joints provide. My solution was a short extension for my small lift, and double rag joints. The extension is nothing more than a small section of steel tubing, and two flat bar flanges. The rag joints are made from heavy heavy dude radiator hose, doubled up.
  15. I started my ea81 motor build Worked with lyter1983, and was able to get a motor shipped UPS ground And it even survived the trip! I had it shipped to my work, and it arrived today. Yay! Let the tear-down fun begin:burnout:
  16. Looking good dude. So I guess the stubs are welded to the CVs, eh?
  17. this thread has some rebuild info. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3296 I considered doing just that a whole back, but instead just bit the bullet and purchased a reman. This page has some dizzy replacement info http://www.bonnefinstudios.com/kwb/automotive/dizzy.htm
  18. Actually it says upgrade to a hitachi manifold, them weber Welcome!
  19. correct
  20. Send a PM to lyter1983 I just purchased a motor from him, and in order to get the thing light enough for UPS ground, he stripped it a bit for me. Alt bracket included.
  21. You sure it isnt just the ignition switch? Can you turn the radio on? How about the headlights?
  22. dont bother with Por-15. Way too much fuss. Check out Monstaliner's chassis paint. http://www.monstaliner.com/monstaliner_how_to_stop_rust.htm
