  1. This is a dedicated wife. The Brat isn't running in the pics cause of water in the dizzy. god I love her.
  2. Yeah, the 2wd and 4wd's have the same front ends. So the parts will interchange, the only real difference between a 2 and 4 is the tranny and rear end. It's not too hard to do bearings once you get the hang of it. They are a ball bearing, not a needle like most people expect.
  3. Yeah, had to go to me Mum's wedding, had to be there at 11 and didn't get back into town till after 7. Couple of my buddies were on their way to Medford and passed em on the way. There were like 5 messages from them on my machine when I got in. They totally need to stop in for a bit. If'n they don't, I know where they live, and have no qualms against driving north for a little chewin. (Been up North SOO many times now, they need to visit down here).
  4. Cooling your combustion temps will cure this. Check to make sure your EGR is working correctly. That is the function of the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation), it dumps exhaust into your intake, and cools off the combustion temps. If the EGR is working all right, set up a water sprayer to spray a little water into the intake during the test (don't tell anyone I told you this). The water will lower your combustion temps and thus lower your NOx. As far as rich or lean, I'm trying to think here. A leaner mix burns hotter then a fat mixture. If'n you richen it up a bit, then it'll lower the NOx, but don't do it too much or you'll fail the other parts of the test. Hope this helps.
  5. Uh, Skipper, mighta jes read you wrong, but the EA81T has a single intake port, jes like the NA ones do. You can put an EA81T intake onto an NA EA81. Also you can put an EA82 Carb'd or SPFI intake onto an EA81. When you go from the 82 to the 81 you have to play around with the EGR tube, as they are different, also the thermostat housing is a little different. On the SPFI intake, I know for sure, there is a little hose coming out of the Thermo housing that will hit the dizzy on an EA81, but you can play around with it and get it to work right. Hope this helps.
  6. Might be talking about the turbo's. I've heard of the old EA81T's called GL-10's. Haven't actually seen the badge on an EA81, but doesn't mean that it don't exist. I though that the GL-5 was a myth for a long time, as well as the EA81T till I saw em in real life. Also could be a model from overseas, as they had Brats elsewhere up into the 90's.
  7. Hey Tony, the pump isn't in the tank. It's jes the one on the little bracket underneith. SPFI is a pretty good, but the problem is that his in an 85 (or is it an 86)? either way, it's a MAF system, and doesn't have the optical dizzy in it. The computer in the older EA82's is closer to the EA81T (in fact I think it has the same part number from Subaru).
  8. Dpends, if it's an 86 RX, then it'll be a 4wd one. If'n it's an 87 or newer RX, then it'll be a Full-time, It's like the crossover tranny between 4wd and AWD, it's neither of each, or a little of both. It does have dual range though, but no 2wd mode, unless you do the fuse thing.
  9. Yeah, I get home from the wedding and a couple of my buddies called and were all yelling "like you wouldn't believe what we saw on the freeway today!!" I told them I could believe it, and they were like "NO, you don't understand dood, there were all these lifted Subaru's going down the freeway!!" So I knew they made it through here. Can't wait to see the pics and stuffs.
  10. lets jes say it's combination of AutoCad, WinAmp, and Adope Photo Shop, took me a couple days to get it all done right. Lumpy is on the road right now, so I guess when they roll through there I can see how he has his drivelines setup. Seems to be the big money part of this swap, did some looking around, and the standard seems to be about 250 for the 2 drivelines. So It'll have to wait.
  11. Man, I totally forgot that you have a digi cam. Oh well. I got some pics with a regular camera, so I'll get them scanned next week and have em up. I'll prolly put them on both my site and on the USMB gallery. I've revamped my site a bit, so it looks better now.
  12. The front diff is integral to the tranny and wouldn't swap out with A LOT of work, I mean machining, fabricating, and a whole host of stuff that would make it much more plausable to just put the EJ motor and stuffs into your car.
  13. Good luck guys (and gals). I can't make it, but I will definatly be there in spirit. Don't forget that if you can't stop by on the way down, you better stop on the way up. Most you have my number (or used to anyways) so gimme a call when you get into the area. If'n you gas up round here, the North Grants Pass exit is really close to me, and there are like 4 gas stations right off the off ramp, and I can get there in like 2 minutes. Again, good luck.
  14. Definatly looks pretty good. Took me a few to get the hang of some of the new stuff. But I think I've got it down pretty good now. Least good enough to get posting. Yeah, let us know when and where to send the contributions.
  15. Yesterday I put in the finishing touches on the mounts for my Nissan T-case. It went in like it was ment to be. Even the bends in the origonal T-case shifter had the right bends to get around the passenger side seat. I jes need to get the drivlines made up, and everything will be good as gold. It's pretty kewl haveing the 3 shifters in there now. (one for the gear, one for the tranny low/hi range, and one for the T-case). I think the best thing about it is that my engine isn't sunk down like before, which means I have A LOT more clearance under my oil pan and exhaust. Although the front diff does sit down there aways. Thanks Lumpy for the idea and motivation to get this done. Didn't take as long or as hard as I thought. I picked up everything on Tuesday, and on Thursday it was all finished (cept for the DL's of course.) But now that the motor is up where it's suppose to be, now I run into things like my dizzy and hillholder are fighting for space, and I still need to come up with tranny mounts. But save for a few little things, it's ready to do some serious mobbing on the 19th of next month. (check the meet & greet for details).
  16. He's got an EA82 PS pump, and I got the mount for it from an EA81T. I don't like the standard EA81 PS pump (the huge thing that uses separate belts, ick). I'm gonna pull off the pump and bracket and see how it sits in front of my carb in a little bit.
