  1. Uh, my 80 GL Brat has the solo rounds. That go for all Brats for that year? Although I think that I do own the only 82 Brat with dual rounds. As noted below
  2. Uh, but for 80 bucks you can get a Clarion CD player, and the kit to install it.
  3. Hey Miles, check out my Brat. It's ALL spray paint. lotsa people have asked where I go it painted too. It's funny. It'll be spray paint untill I get done with it, (somewhere round 2025 ), then it will get an actualy paint job. I've gone through some autobody courses, including 2 on just paint, so I got a little experience in it.
  4. I know the ER27 shares a lot of parts with the EJ motors, (as well as some from the EA's). I don't have one around to test fit, so if anyone knows, I'd like to put an EJ crossover pipe onto my ER27, also if anyone has a pipe that they would let go of for cheap, lemme know. Thanks.
  5. I usually use pipe thread sealer, the liquid stuff. Jes remember to let it set up a bit, then screw it in, and let it set a little longer after that. I've seen people use the tape without problems, but personally, I wouldn't.
  6. Alrighty, things are definatly lookin up now. Got the rear driveline made up today, gotta get it balanced still. Brakes are done, as well as some of the mounting that needed to get done. So looks like I'll have it done with enough time to test run it. Also definatly got a route planned out. Looks like we'll prolly be meeting up in Rogue River on Friday, as the campsite is out in the Wimer area.
  7. Someone replaced the uppipe on it with one off an EA81. My EA81T had it on the up-pipe, and when it went south, I replaced it with an EA82 one, and the EA82 one had a plug in the port. This is what leads me to believe that they jes used the same crossover from 81 to 82. Either that or a previous owner had an A/F meter in there, and put in the second O2 for it.
  8. yup Although I think that the 2wd/4wd makes a difference. Maybe not though. I used a set off a 78 Brat on my 82, so they should swap back.
  9. Well, I got a job working for my new step-dad, it's pretty kewl, he owns a carwash, so I get to go out there and maintain it. So if all goes well, I'll be up and running. I got a lot of stuff knocked out today, like the radiator mountings, and the front clip mounts, and a bunch of other stuff. I'll prolly end up getting everything done right as we're ready to roll out. Oh well, working on a deadline, it'll be like in Monster Garage, or American Chopper/Hotrod.
  10. Dunno what the fire season is going to look like then, might not have an actual fire, we've got a bbq pit that we carry to put a fire in for food. I'm kinda running into a bit of a snag right now with the Brat, I only got a few weeks to go, and I've hit rock bottom on my budget and still have quite a bit to do. I'm trying to get a job right now, but need to make some quick cash, so I'm looking for any jobs that I can do real quick like right now. If you hear of sumpin that can afford me a quick buck (need something in the area of 2-3 hundred to finish everything up). Mechanical, construction, general labor, I'm open at the moment.
  11. My setup was two separate pipes. No crossovers or x's. I had about 1.5-3 psi of backpressure per pipe, depending on rpm. If you are going to do anything to the exhaust, I would highly recommend porting out the heads, this will make things soo much better. Two cylinders dumping into a 1.75" pipe isn't really that good, a good rule of thumb is about 1-1.5" per cylinder depending on displacement, but I don't like haveing less than 1" per. The turbo crossover is an ohkay idea, but only if you have a new pipe fabbed up, the stock one is way too small, and doesn't really flow good enough for an NA motor. There are about as many ways to do exhaust as there are to make a motor, many many different idea's, and even if you have 5 of the exact same motor, with the exact same components, built by the same person, all 5 of them will turn out different from each other, motors are like people, you jes have to experiment and see. It took me about 11 different combo's of trial and error to get a good setup on my 'Stang years ago. Although this may not be a good option for people that can't do their own exhaust, the gains are way good.
  12. I've run true 2" dual on an EA81 Brat with pretty good results. I had the heads ported out to 2" so it went 2" from the head into a 90 then 2 feet back into two 26" glasspacks, then 2 more feet of 2" pipe into a 90 pointing out. It was LOUD! above 3500, below 3K it was ohkay. Had lotsa good low end, but that may have been due to the other mods done to the engine (pistons, cam, ect.) Some glasspacks will throw sparks, also depends on how much pipe you have after them. If you get at least a 25" GP, with at LEAST 2' of pipe after it, you should be pretty safe.
  13. Here's a pic of pretty much what most of the water crossings will be like. It's not really bad at all, a few inches on most of them. Pretty much we'll be dealing with a lot of mud and BIG puddles.
  14. Looks like we're going to go a different route. The one out in the Illinois would be ohkay, but nothing spectacular, once you go through the water crossing, it's just driving around on trails. We're going to go into Wimer, out past Rogue River, the trails there are more "technical", requireing you to pick good lines and whot not, plus there are 3 campsites to choose from, and many masses of trails. Plus stockers and low lifters will be able to run along, albeighit they need to be more technical with the lines.
  15. Well, made it home, and it's pretty late. The only real reason I'm posting is cause my computer is already on, and everything. Had a great time today guys, glad that I got to ride up with ya, and hang out for a while. Can't wait till I can take mine out on a trail with ya'll. Although anything local that we go to will prolly be like nothing to you seasoned Vets. Hats off to you, and a 21 gun salute.
  16. DooD! YES! I wanna build one now! That would be hella kewl to play around with, ya know, get board one night so you follow the RC car down the street in another car, run red's and let it get pulled over. And have a walky talky setup in the car so you can talk to the cop. THAT would be a great cop chases video.
  17. I ran the Brat out at the dunes without any rear shocks. Lets just say that the first time the suspension had a chance to drop, there was a BOOM! It had ripped the axle out of both CV's, tore the boots, and the axle was laying in the sand. So the limit isn't really the torsion bar, the shocks limit the travel to prevent the CV's from being literally torn apart. If you get axles with like a slip yoke in em, then you could get IMHO up to 30" if not more of suspension travel.
  18. The 79 won't have the same torsion bars like on the gen II. Lowering it would require reclocking the torsion bars in the rear, you'd have to take em out and stuff that I'm really not too up to speed on. The front, you'll have to either get lower springs, or cut the existing ones. Lotsa luck.
  19. Mine run, but needed a fuel pump, and got it for 450. Being as it's an EA81T it's definatly a getter. SAVE THIS ONE! You can always convert it to a D/r if'n you want.
  20. Yeah, look under the rear seat, there will be a large rubber plug in the middle, take out the plug and you will be stareing a 19mm (or 17, but I think 19, I could go out to one of mine and check, but I'm too lazy ) bolt in the face. Jes tighten the bolt and it will raise the rear end. The fron has the two nuts on the struts.
  21. They weren't expecting to get to the end of the trail till like Thurs or Friday, so we prolly won't hear anything from em till at least Friday. There ain't a whole lot of cell service out there. We'll see soon enough. I know how everyone feels though, I'm seriously antsy to see how well they did.
  22. Sounds good. I'm hopeing to hear from 3eyedbandit, and the other guy. I want this to be a big outing. I've wanted to host a meet n greet thing in Southern Oregon for a LONG LONG time now, and finally something is comeing together. I'm loving it. ALthough I with that the Brat was coming together a lot faster.
  23. Is it a SPFI? I'm reckoning it is, cause of the disgust in the MAF. It's a hot wire, so it's a problem trying to get another one for it. It has a pretty specific voltages that it runs off of, and sends to the computer. I would get the specifications for it, the voltages, and what pins are whot, and then look around for another one that looks the same but is bigger, and has the same specs, then see if it will work. Lotsa luck.
