86subaru replied to wp96's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i agree way to high, i got mine for 85 bucks , no rust, good interior, but if you must buy it , look at the front axles, rust underneith, radiator, clutch, oil leaks, windshields are 270 bucks, -
if you need parts send me a email and i might have extra parts,

new ethanol plant being built in LIMA, OHIO,
-
did research today at alocal dealer, there should not be any damage done, but run it out as soon as possible ,run it down to 1/2 tank then add 87 octine , your fuel system will be cleaned out
-
in any case i will not run it again, decided to run it down and add 87 octine at 1/2 tank,+ change filter, i hope no damage
-
thanks for the help.should i change the filter now or wait, did more research , i have read about bigger injectors etc.. but nothing about eating away the fuel line or plastic parts,
-
well aleast it will clean out the fuel system,it does seem to take off like a rocket after 40 mph, so may question now is will it hurt it ? and yes after i run it out change the filter, or should i run it down to 1/2 tank and add 87 octine or run it all the way out
-
well live and learn, well run it down and add 87 octine or wal- mart gas,
-
ok, so i guess it will not hurt the 02, or injectors ? to late now, full tank ,so it will be aleast a week to run it out , so running it in spfi motor would really screw it up ?
-
DO NOT RUN IT , it's on a 88 turbo a/t full time 4wd wagon with 125,000mi on it , runs very bady , jerks , pops , no power on lower end, i mixed 10 gal 85% ethanol to 3gal 87 octine , , it was running fine on mid-grade or higher , plugs are gapped, new, cap, rotor, good wires, new fuel filter, no cat,

wal-mart, some times they have tires on sale this time of year, but if your going to off road with them ,they might blow out -
wait until you go off roading with it , like i did , but make sure you have good tires ,because i had to replace 3 tires after i got back , 1 blew, 2 other i broke the inner belt ,

you must remember that around here there is very cheap gas out there , but i do not think it is the gas , john in ky is also suggesting alot of things also , it sure does help when i have a ea82 turbo motor [ blown hg] sitting there with good parts on it ,thanks guys will post today after starting it
-
well i changed it ,and it seemed to help, + fuel filter ,but it was only 15,000mi old, but the gas station my wife got gas from was 87 octine or less , in the morning i will be able to tell ,thanks
-
i do have a new 1 that i can put in ? oem in fact ,it only happens on cold start ups, and lasts a few miles, another subaru person said it could be a smog censor behind the glove box ,after the car warms up a few miles it is ok,, like a timer
-
check cap, wires, plugs, fuel filter changed, timming right on, seems to be a vacuum leak around the passanger side towards the fender , but could not find anything wrong
-
still having the problem , in fact getting worse, even when it idles :confused:no codes showing up ? i am thinking bad gas ?
