  1. there was post some time back about using a ford f-150 fuel pump, but something about using different clamps or buying smaller hose kit
  2. so using rotella 5w-40 year around is ok, + mobile1 oil filters in OHIO
  3. how hard is it to replace the carrier bearing in the drive shaft ? or just different drive shaft ? if it is going out what might happen if it is not replaced ?
  4. exhaust is ok, all new, so it could be carrier bearing then , guess we will find out when we leave to go back home
  5. ok, yes the rear end noise could be alot of things , but after pulling over and stopping ,the car is ok now , i am thinking the tranny could have been between gears climbing the steep hills , but my wife remembers smelling something like rubber burning
  6. have all parts ready to be installed , so when miles gets down there then the job will go smooth , ebay has good priced timing belt kits , + other parts that might need to be replaced
  7. also a new radiator + tranny cooler was added , but i remember checking everything before the trip ,and the coolant was ok in the over flow tank, after the turbo wagon sat for several hours the coolant level went down several inches ,
  8. while driving to cincinnati the turbo wagon ran great , 70mph , temp gauge in the middle , after 100 mile trip we stopped , i popped the hood to check a coolant leak ,which was a loose radiator clamp , i noticed the over flow tank full of coolant , no bubbles , oil good, ? 2nd question , also while driving there was a strange noise from the rear end , sounded like a flat tire at first , so we stopped ,i checked everything , no flat tire , cruise was set , pretty big hills to climb, , it is a 88 turbo a/t full time 4wd wagon , 123,000mi , rear diff fluid serviced , tranny fluid changed, good tires,after we started the car ran fine ,no noise , thanks, could i have had to much coolant in the over flow tank ?
  9. a local quick lube place would not flush out my 88 turbo a/t wagon , so had to do it myelf
  10. ok, been on the road for the last 5 weeks , so as soon as i get home + get back on city work ,i'll work on it, the turbo ea81 heads are sold , thanks
  11. i have 2 ea81 wagons , 1 turbo 1 carb , the carb one has a bad tranny ,some rust, the turbo wagon has no rust but motor needs alot of work , thanks
  12. i tried to send you a private message ,but your box was full , miles fox would be the one to do the work , i live in the western part of the state ,and he has done alot of work for me + i have learned alot
  13. what i did was drain and fill , poured it into jugs then i knew how much i drained out , do this, drive it a few thousand miles and do it again
  14. will a carb ea81 motor work into turbo ea81 ,both 1983 , no digital dash on either one , 1 is a manual 1 is a a/t
  15. what i ment was a tranny cooler , light duty, i always change the oil very 3,000mi also , drain and fill the tranny will also help,i got my new radiator from the radiator barn 2 row, , advance auto had the tranny cooler on line
  16. a/t or manual.,? if it's a/t then mpg will be 23-24 city 25-26 hi , main thing to do is keep the turbo motor cool , good 2 row radiator + tranny cooler ,
  17. i have a 83 a/t 4wd wagon , will the fuel tank fit onto my 84 4sp 4wd brat ?
  18. must be a mix up ,because i got the same and they fit great 5,000mi later
  19. i run 1 on my 88 turbo a/t full time 4wd wagon , and like it , got mine from advance auto ,on line [ light duty]
  20. not to hijack the post,on mine you have let out the clutch almost all the way before ingauging
