i broke the tensioner bolt , [ square compressor ] can i still put the belt on and run it ?or what size is it

the ones i saw were a total of 58 bucks, but remember shipping is higher going saskatchewan,

ebay had them ,40 bucks + 18 shipping , us dollars or pay-pal

my 88 spfi d/r dl. wagon does the same thing ,but only when it is colder out side , but since i do not have a tach ,i am not sure what the rpms would be , after i cleaned the maf it started to do this, but it does have 197,000mi on it

no problem pat, or what size is it ? i could go and buy 1 , it will be aleast sunday before i am back home

the alt belt is new along with alt, water pump, + i check things out during oil changes

yes tensioner bolt, if i remember right counter-clock wise will tighten it up , after i get 1 ,thanks pm me and i will give you my address

i took the ac belt off because the compressor locked up , yes i could have just unhook the power to the compressor , but the ac belt was very loose , since i bent the long bolt ,on the square type compressor , and have not replaced the bolt, it must be the colder weather ,because the ac belt has been off for awhile , pat do you have the long bolt ? for the square type compressor ,it's the bolt for the pully on the tension pully , about 8 inches long [ 12 mm ]

sounds like a bad compressor , the belt is squealing , but the alt belt is new , along with alt, new napa water pump, seems the colder it gets the more it squeals , and it only lasts about 5-10 seconds , the car sits over night , the wheel is straight , ,it is not the compressor ,because the belt has been removed , the alt belt is not wet or oily also

if it is not the power steering pump then what else should i look at , the wheel is straight car is running and still makes the noise?

now if i can find the spare 1:eek:

as the weather gets colder here the power steering pump is making a loud noise , after afew seconds it goes away , i am thinking the pump is bad any comments ?[ 88 turbo a/t full time 4wd wagon] new alt belt, new alt, and it is tight, i have a spare , it should be fairly easy to change

not sure the name brand of my muffler ,but the muffler shop put on a turbo muffler, it's on my 88 turbo a/t full time 4wd wagon, with no cat, make sure you run aleast 2in pipe from the curve part back , and yes it makes a difference , the shop i went to did not put a flange ,so if i have to take it apart it will be harder, , and where the cat was i wrapped , my mpg did not really go up ,but alot more power , 24 city, 25 hi way, but mine is a automatic tranny

ok,it only did it 1 time,and only a small cloud , the plugs are new ngk + good new wires, will see if it does it again , thanks

we did get gas from a different station , 87 octine, , i think the idle problem is that i am running 87 octine instead of 90 or higher, on my 88 turbo , the station she always gets it from has 10% ethanol in it , mpg is 23-24 city.the air cleaner is a k-n ,cleaned out 5,000mi ago

wife came home and said that BLACK smoke came out the tail pipe, and ran fine after that, right before that the car got real dogish, no cat , everything looks good, no major oil leaks, that might cause burning,

yes had the car for 2 years, i was thinking about running higher octine, but it does cost more , , instead could i put something into the fuel tank ?average mpg is 23-24 city hi way 25

after the car is warmed up and driven , a few miles , shut the car off for like 1/2 hour , restart it the idle is real low almost ready to stall , if the car sits over night the idle is fine new, oem pvc, nkg plugs, good wires, new cap /rotor , cleaned maf , timing set, no cat, running 87 octine, this is on a 88 turbo a/t full time 4wd wagon, , also new fuel filter, ,thanks

i also bought a 2 row radiator from them , very quick shipping , + fit great :D :D :D

no real change mpg 24 , city ,but have been using cheaper gas, this time i filled up with better gas :-\

my update on cleaning maf , cleaned turbo wagon today , no affect , on the spfi dl wagon mpg seem to be up

i have used 20w-50 weight oil, and it worked , i know some guys using 15-40 also
