  1. i cleaned the tps , and yes it was dirty, but i think i did something else to cause this and not the oil cap , but it could be ,
  2. it's my 88 turbo a/t full time 4wd wagon , changed the plugs [ ngk] proper gap, good wires, new cap ,rotor, higher octine fuel, newer fuel filter 5,000mi ago, new air filter, here is the problem , car starts fine , idle seems up and down now, this is from a cold start, when you drive it it real slugish for a few miles , then kicks in and runs fine , a few times black smoke came out the exhaust , the cat has been removed , comments ?? thanks
  3. after afew days of a tighter cap , i have noticed less oil leaking , here i was thinking it was a power steering fluid leaking around the fitting and dripping onto the spash plate , i should have noticed it sooner
  4. maybe 1/2 qt every 3000 miles, it drips it from the rear main
  5. my oil cap on my 88 turbo wagon seems to be leaking , so i switched it with another 1 , you can see oil leaking down the neck , can the seal underneith the cap go bad ? , what i did was back it off alittle and is tighter now, or is there something else causing it, ? oil level is good, and fresh,
  6. ok if it was a older one ea82 motor ,then i could judge a better price or work involved +part cost, but since it was a newer one ,i was not sure of part cost, etc... thanks
  7. ok, but on the for sale it does say transfer case which i know there isno transfer case , i have not driven it ,so may pass , , but no harm in calling the guy ,no i really do not need another car , but something newer would be nice
  8. yes , i replaced the crossmember , infact both sides were rusted bolts were rusted bady , alot of work +parts were put into it,
  9. just a few questions, owner says it needs , knock sensor, front axle, and the rear transfer case needs work, a shop says 1200 bucks total , 160,000mi on motor, black ,leather interior, i can get it for like 2000 bucks or lower , it's in area that there are not to many subaru's , just your comments ,good price ? bad price? etc.... thanks
  10. so would it really gain anything , is it worth it ? i did it on my 88 turbo wagon and it helped alittle , yes turbos are different + 2 inch pipe all the way back + turbo muffler
  11. i can get a y-pipe made with no cat ,but with a O-2 sensor port , how loud will it be ? or what type of muffler needed ? and no center also , what is the thread size for the O-2 sensor port ? any adjustments after wards on motor ? this is on a spfi d/r wagon , has anyone else done this ? what improvement ,mpg , cooler motor , etc... ea82 motor ,thanks
  12. read the manual , using the house charger, 4 hours , the car charger will charge it very fast , and alot of people leave leave it on the car charger to long and forget about it
  13. just a quick note, using the cigarette lighter cord all the time for a cell phone ,will shorten the life of the battery pack
  14. clean the idle air control , or tps , it really helped my 88 turbo , mine had the same problem ,
  15. i have used it to flush a motor out before , but always change the oil / filter, i wonder what affect it would have on a ea82 turbo with no cat ?but it's like 3.00 bucks a gal
  16. i have heard that before , in fact pouring it into a carb ,they say will seal a carb up from it leaking , i have never tried it
  17. my 88 turbo a/t gets 23-24 mpg ,hi -city mix driving , mine seems to run better on higher octine , but mpg is the same , if you can take the big fat cat off , 2in pipe all the way back , + everything else said before
  18. use dealer only gaskets , i went though so many aftermarket ones
  19. yes, noise is gone , i guess i learn something every day , belt is holding good , without tensioner bolt
  20. cold beer ,soooo when your buddies come over they have something to drink
  21. saturday evening ,i put ac belt back on , unpluged ac , tighted up alt belt, tighted bolt on front of the pully , it seems to be ok and not alot of slack in the belt , no slipping of belt or noise , but i think it would be better to have the tensioner bolt on , thanks pat ,when ever you can dig 1 up
