Looks sweet, but those bottom lights won't last through the winter!

Getting all excited and going through my good photos from the last rally...Here's another of the Mighty Max for you Matt, and since you love VW's I threw one in of a rally Sirocco. Other cars that have participated include a early 90's Sentra, a couple of Saabs, Neons, a Geo, Mazda 3, Datsun Z, Celicas, Corollas, and an old BMW. Of course though, the majority of the cars are Subaru or Mitsubishi.

I'm sorry Jon, I forgot to answer your question about how far it is from me and what it's like! From Kingston, it takes me ~1 hour to get there, but it doesn't seem that far since about 40 minutes of the drive is in the territory I work in on a daily basis. I take 209 South to RT. 17 for this rally usually. I think you could hop on 84 west and cut up north somewhere pretty easily. It does cost $5 to watch the rally, which you pay at the spectator area...the $5 goes to the boy scout reservation they hold the event on. You get a wristband and the $5 is for both days/all spectator areas. The local fire department also sets up a grill for dogs and burgers, soda, water, ect and they don't charge much. As far as the $10 admission charge to see the cars at Monticello Raceway, it's not really worth it IMO. Last year it was $8, I paid, and I did enjoy getting up close and personal with the cars and the drivers. Will I pay again? Probably not... It's a really friendly atmosphere. There can be a lot of down time sometimes, but the rush of exitement for seeing the car for 5, maybe 10 seconds (if they go off) makes the wait worth it every time! People are nice, the Polish and Irish guys chain smoke like you can't believe, and the sensory overload you experience will stay with you for quite some time. You will hear the anti-lag systems in your sleep for the next week...you will smell clutch...brakes...race gas.... Hey everyone, Put "Mahls Pond Road, Narrowsburg, NY" into your mapquest. This is pretty much the general focal point of the rally (focal point being the intersections of routes 26, 22, and 23 as seen on the mapquest map) Blind pond road, Cochecton Turnpike...these are the roads you want to find while you're researching your trip. It's easy to find your way around once you get there. Anyhow, once you punch that into mapquest, download the spectator guide/maps to try and figure out where you are. They may seem a little cryptic and hard to read, but I guarantee that if you get your car to Mahls Pond Road, you will figure out where the rally action is. If you need more hints, PM me. Yep, It's that time of year again! What time you may be asking? INTERNATIONAL RALLY NEW YORK September 22-23, 2006 in the southern Catskills in Sullivan County. All gravel stages for this rally, as opposed to the all tarmac event in April. An easy drive from anywhere and well worth it. This will be my 5th RNY, and although I can usually say that I will definately be there for both days, this event may only be a 1 dayer due to "life":rolleyes: Kevin A few pictures I took from rallys past....lots of fun

I got a 2001 Legacy L wagon with 45k a little less than a year ago for about $12g. It's the base model with a 5-speed, power windows/locks, rear wiper, temp gauge, ect....really decent for a base model in my opinion. Quiet on the interstate at 70, and good manners for day to day driving...and it can handle some more "agressive" driving pretty ok as well:D Good luck with the hunt! Kevin

As per conversation with SOA, you can fax them a copy of your registration and they can get you the "premimum site" or whatever it's called. I did not have to notify them of the previous owners address, and there were a couple of services already listed in the mysubaru.com VIN account for my newly acquired wagon. Another option is running a carfax on it...sometimes service intervals show up there was well, but you won't know what was actually done or where it was done at.

Three thoughts: 1) Was this car dealer maintained its whole life? Some people just drop their car off every xxx miles for a service, and they pay whatever the bill is, no questions asked. The previous owner may have been one of these people, and you may be worrying for no good reason 2) Enter the VIN number at www.mysubaru.com by starting a free account for your car. It has an online owners manual as well as service history...some cars have more reported services than others; even if all of the service has been completed, it may not show up online. 3) Contact the past service provider and see what's up. If the CEL is flashing, it's the motor screaming for your sweet, sweet mercy...usually indicating a misfire situation. Plugs and wires at minimum and see if that helps. If you could though, getting the CEL code read would probably answer a lot of your questions.

No fuse on 5-speeds.

At approximately 86,000 miles, the steering rack in my Impreza had to be replaced becuase it would not pass NYS inspection. Apparently, the tie rod boots had tears in them which allowed the rack to get all funky on me. Maybe I was taken to the cleaners, but the car steered a whole lot better after it was replaced for mucho $$. Kevin

We have the same roofs and the same stock racks. Budget? Go with my idea. Have some extra cash? You want the 450 Crossroad foot pack and 50" bars (probably sturdier than my way, but my way works great!). Visit www.thule.com for prices and a dealer near you. My way: -Thule Ride-On Adaptor (comes with 30" bars good for 2 bikes...I switched them out for 50" bars so I could fit my ski rack) -Velo Vise V2 (disc brake) or the Velo Vise (non-disc) rack. Here are a few pictures of my setup...if you have any questions, ask me! Here we see the "Ride-On" adaptor and how I clamped it to the stock rack.
